Summary

Before Peter Pan belonged to Wendy, he belonged to the girl with the crow feather in her hair。 。 。 。

Fifteen-year-old Tiger Lily doesn't believe in love stories or happy endings。 Then she meets the alluring teenage Peter Pan in the forbidden woods of Neverland and immediately falls under his spell。

Peter is unlike anyone she's ever known。 Impetuous and brave, he both scares and enthralls her。 As the leader of the Lost Boys, the most fearsome of Neverland's inhabitants, Peter is an unthinkable match for Tiger Lily。 Soon, she is risking everything—her family, her future—to be with him。 When she is faced with marriage to a terrible man in her own tribe, she must choose between the life she's always known and running away to an uncertain future with Peter。

With enemies threatening to tear them apart, the lovers seem doomed。 But it's the arrival of Wendy Darling, an English girl who's everything Tiger Lily is not, that leads Tiger Lily to discover that the most dangerous enemies can live inside even the most loyal and loving heart。

This was a dark tale told from Tinkerbell's point of view with all the Peter Pan characters; Hook, Smee, The Lost Boys & Tinkerbell。 There were new characters Tiger Lilly, Tik Tok, Pine Sap and Moon Eyes to name a few。This is not a baby lambs and fluffy chicks story。 It deals with some very strong subject matter and at times is quite sad and shocking。 Definitely for older 14+ readers。 This was a dark tale told from Tinkerbell's point of view with all the Peter Pan characters; Hook, Smee, The Lost Boys & Tinkerbell。 There were new characters Tiger Lilly, Tik Tok, Pine Sap and Moon Eyes to name a few。This is not a baby lambs and fluffy chicks story。 It deals with some very strong subject matter and at times is quite sad and shocking。 Definitely for older 14+ readers。 。。。more

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 Where the heck should I begin?Going into this, I had no knowledge of the story beyond Peter Pan, the Lost Boys, Neverland, let alone Tiger Lily。 I have never heard of such a character。 When I Googled her though, I recognised the little native girl animated fit for any Disney film。 But heck should I have known that she was Tiger Lily。 Again, I had no knowledge or interest prior to reading this book。But alas, hello, 💔💔💔。Getting to know and reading Tiger Lily’s story is another fairytale to behold。 Where the heck should I begin?Going into this, I had no knowledge of the story beyond Peter Pan, the Lost Boys, Neverland, let alone Tiger Lily。 I have never heard of such a character。 When I Googled her though, I recognised the little native girl animated fit for any Disney film。 But heck should I have known that she was Tiger Lily。 Again, I had no knowledge or interest prior to reading this book。But alas, hello, 💔💔💔。Getting to know and reading Tiger Lily’s story is another fairytale to behold。 It was a journey full of heart-churning events interwoven together until all you can ever think of is empathising with her。 This book isn’t too long with only a couple hundred pages, but it was one that I wanted to savour each word, chapter and twist and turn。 I loved the ending。 It showed life the way it is—purposeful。 However hard we try to go against the current of our lives, in the end we always go back to our destined course。 I leave this scatterbrained (trust me, that it exactly what I am as of the moment) review with some words from the last chapter of the book。 “Some words meant something different to Tiger Lily than they ever had before; some sentences waited years to grow full in her mind。 Many people in the village wanted her to be more of a girl, and Peter had wanted her to be large and brave but a little less large and brave than him。 But Pine Sap was sure enough to want her to be exactly who she was。 And though there were many people who loved Tiger Lily in her tribe, and many people Tiger Lily loved, that was what she was left with。”No doubt this magnificent book deserves all the fairy dust and golden stars it deserves。 ❤️❤️❤️ 。。。more

So this is the fastest I’ve read in a hot minute huh? I got to a certain point *cough cough Wendy’s arrival *cough cough* where I just had to finish the book and find out what happens and what happens hurts a lot。 It was a great story and my only thing about it was that it actually felt a little slow at times for me。 Like almost like parts felt like filler。 But that was just a small part。 4。5 stars really。

Tiger lily is a great love story and spin off of Peter Pan。 It is very adventurous and a quick moving book which makes it impossible to put down on top of fact that it is very the suspenseful。

😕😕😕😕😕 Really disappointing。 2。5 ⭐️For an idea that sounded really cool is was poorly executed。 I liked the ending but it wasn’t written in a way that had the right impact。 It felt too slow most of the time and writing it from Tink’s POV was interesting but I don’t know if it was the best decision, it felt too detached。

After The Forbidden Wish, I felt an overwhelming urge to pick up another retelling that I had been eyeing for a while。 I'm only familiar with the Disney version of Peter Pan and my feelings for the characters aren't particularly strong。 But if I had to pick some elements that intrigued me the most about Neverland, they would be the mermaids, the magic, Peter himself, and (after I read the blurb) Tiger Lily。 I was really looking forward to learning more about Neverland through one of the side cha After The Forbidden Wish, I felt an overwhelming urge to pick up another retelling that I had been eyeing for a while。 I'm only familiar with the Disney version of Peter Pan and my feelings for the characters aren't particularly strong。 But if I had to pick some elements that intrigued me the most about Neverland, they would be the mermaids, the magic, Peter himself, and (after I read the blurb) Tiger Lily。 I was really looking forward to learning more about Neverland through one of the side characters who was a part of it。 Tiger Lily has such a great concept, but I was really disappointed with the execution。The narration style was a really interesting choice。 At first, I liked the idea of hearing the story from Tinker Bell。 But it quickly became suuuper "tell, not show"。 Even though she can "hear into people's heads," I never really felt like I was getting to know the characters much and they didn't seem to be changing throughout the story。 The love between Peter and Tiger Lily was boring at best, insta-love at worst。 Thinking back on my feelings of the book, all I can remember is feeling either impartial or just sad at the dreary plot。 Speaking of the plot, it felt so stereotypical and pointless (view spoiler)[since our main characters don't do anything to change the outcome that had been predicted for them。 Also I feel pretty iffy about the whole natives vs。 foreigners conflict (hide spoiler)]。You'd think the characters would be fun to read though right? No。 Peter lost all the charm I remember him having。 He can't even fly。 Tiger Lily is such a not-like-other-girls character ((view spoiler)[fuck Wendy right? If there is a novel and a story that I am deeply in love with, it is "Peter Pan" by J。M Barrie。 And no, my favorite was never the rectory Wendy Darling, but the elusive Tiger Lily, whom people often forget (and let's face it, even Barrie didn't give her much space between the pages)。 I recognize myself a lot in her, which is why I couldn't help but buy this retelling as soon as I found it in its original language。I really appreciated the fact that the whole story was told through Tinkerbell's ey If there is a novel and a story that I am deeply in love with, it is "Peter Pan" by J。M Barrie。 And no, my favorite was never the rectory Wendy Darling, but the elusive Tiger Lily, whom people often forget (and let's face it, even Barrie didn't give her much space between the pages)。 I recognize myself a lot in her, which is why I couldn't help but buy this retelling as soon as I found it in its original language。I really appreciated the fact that the whole story was told through Tinkerbell's eyes, but above all I was struck by the rawness and gloomy atmosphere with which the whole novel was told: I saw Neverland with different eyes and experienced the love, between Tiger Lily and Peter, with a convoy of naivety, childishness and profound maturity to took my breath away。 Needless to say, the end made me miss the ground under my feet。 。。。more

My heart。 This book reads like an ache。 Like longing。 I read this book years ago, but it's always stuck with me, and after reading it I was in a melancholic state for a solid week。 It's lovely and tragic and beautiful and I have never been touched by a book the way I was while reading Tiger Lily。 My heart。 This book reads like an ache。 Like longing。 I read this book years ago, but it's always stuck with me, and after reading it I was in a melancholic state for a solid week。 It's lovely and tragic and beautiful and I have never been touched by a book the way I was while reading Tiger Lily。 。。。more

Tiger Lily by Jodi Lynn Anderson📓Genre: Fantasy | Young Adult     Star: 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌠(4。8)🔖I know, for all those who've read & loved Peter Pan, the title itself can give away the backdrop of the plot。🔖But for those who aren't familiar with the lovely adventures of the fictional world of 'Neverland', this book is a fascinating retelling of the world-famous story, told from the perspective of the tiny fairy, Tinker Bell。🔖The story follows the fearless, free-spirited, 15-yr-old Tiger Lily ― and how meeting Tiger Lily by Jodi Lynn Anderson📓Genre: Fantasy | Young Adult     Star: 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌠(4。8)🔖I know, for all those who've read & loved Peter Pan, the title itself can give away the backdrop of the plot。🔖But for those who aren't familiar with the lovely adventures of the fictional world of 'Neverland', this book is a fascinating retelling of the world-famous story, told from the perspective of the tiny fairy, Tinker Bell。🔖The story follows the fearless, free-spirited, 15-yr-old Tiger Lily ― and how meeting, knowing and falling in love with Peter ― transforms her in more ways than one。🔖The tale doesn't really have a happy ending but like Tinker Bell explains ― it may be a love story, but unlike one you've ever heard before。 🔖The book explores the unknown facts about Neverland & the lives of the people belonging to the fantastical land。 You get to venture into the unknown woods, witness the mesmerizing sunset, explore the dark side of Neverland, feel the emotional highs and lows of Tiger Lily as she battles to win over Peter's love。🔖The writing style is so beautiful that it touches your heart。 The tale is enthralling from the very first page, but nothing beats the ending that reveals a letter written by Peter that's still fondly kept by Tiger Lily, several years after Peter leaves Neverland。🔖Overall, of all the retellings I've read, this book is one of my personal favorites。 I'm sure you too will love reading about the girl who also 'didn't grow up'。🔸Final Verdict: Great🔸Book Cover: Beautiful🔸Writing Style: Engaging, captivating🔸Character Development: Great 。。。more

Honestly amazing, one of the most beautifully written young adult books that I have ever had the pleasure of reading。 Tragic and sweet this is an amazing look at one of the characters we don’t often glance twice at。 The book was narrated by Tink which was my overall favorite part of this book。 This book is so quotable!

If the weird, unintentional parody of Native Americans wasn't enough to make this novel a cringey mess, the story itself was boring, aimless, and predictable。 It had a lot of potential。 Having the frame narrative be that the story takes place from Tinker Bell's perspective was neat but not really capitalized upon。 Tinker Bell's characterization was probably my favorite part of the book, along with some of the beautiful, flowery language Anderson weaves throughout。 But other than that, the charac If the weird, unintentional parody of Native Americans wasn't enough to make this novel a cringey mess, the story itself was boring, aimless, and predictable。 It had a lot of potential。 Having the frame narrative be that the story takes place from Tinker Bell's perspective was neat but not really capitalized upon。 Tinker Bell's characterization was probably my favorite part of the book, along with some of the beautiful, flowery language Anderson weaves throughout。 But other than that, the characters were all one-note and remained virtually unexplored for the duration of the novel。As an Indigenous person myself, I would have liked to see this story written from the perspective of someone Native American or Indigenous。 Anderson did not have the range or knowledge to represent or even comment on that aspect of the book, which is a shame because it makes up a huge part of the story and of Tiger Lily's character。 Anderson bungled it so badly it is genuinely laughable。I'm not usually this hard on books, but I really wasn't expecting this book to be as racist as it was。 It is baffling to see this book get so much praise, when it wasn't even well-written。 The plot disappears about halfway through and piddles along pointlessly until it ends: with the same, old narrative of the Native woman scorned--a favorite stereotype in a lot of white-made media about Natives。Pick this up if you like reading romanticized depictions of colonization, racism, and Native trauma。 。。。more

A good surprise !I was not expecting such a beautiful story。 I love every character, especially Tiktok。The story is by the Pov of Tinker bell which made it more interesting。 However, I have to say that if you are a hard fan of the original story you can be disappointed 。Besides that, the story is moving。 It’s a sweet story and a beautiful tragedy。

A very easy read that began with a slow pace but I didn't skip a single word for the entire second half。 Just so wistful, youthful, with some darker undertones that ground the story in realism。 It's a story about a young girl turning into a young woman, experiencing love in different forms without one type overpowering the others。 It's been a while since I shed a tear from a book rather than a movie but glad this was the one to do so。 A very easy read that began with a slow pace but I didn't skip a single word for the entire second half。 Just so wistful, youthful, with some darker undertones that ground the story in realism。 It's a story about a young girl turning into a young woman, experiencing love in different forms without one type overpowering the others。 It's been a while since I shed a tear from a book rather than a movie but glad this was the one to do so。 。。。more
