Summary

No, I didn’t kill the dead human。 If I had, I wouldn’t dump the body in the station mall。

When Murderbot discovers a dead body on Preservation Station, it knows it is going to have to assist station security to determine who the body is (was), how they were killed (that should be relatively straightforward, at least), and why (because apparently that matters to a lot of people—who knew?)

Yes, the unthinkable is about to happen: Murderbot must voluntarily speak to humans!

A solid Murderbot (Detectivebot) romp。 As per usual Wells loses me in the technical descriptions and the way the technology ties into the plot, but: fun times。 (reading time 1。4 hours)

a fun readit has been enjoyable to watch SecUnit get ‘fleshed out’ as a personality (pun intended), and it would be fun to read about it becoming a detective in future installments to this series。

My selection for the 'Published in 2021' square in the 2021 r/Fantasy Bingo。 One of the authors whose books go immediately to the top of my TBR pile。 Another Murderbot novella, complete with the usual snark and distrusting humans。 It's marked as a standalone, but it helps to know a bit about the background of some of the humans。 As with all the others in the series, it's a very enjoyable read and I'll be back for more (presumably next year)(Other 2021 Bingo categories for this novel are: "Found My selection for the 'Published in 2021' square in the 2021 r/Fantasy Bingo。 One of the authors whose books go immediately to the top of my TBR pile。 Another Murderbot novella, complete with the usual snark and distrusting humans。 It's marked as a standalone, but it helps to know a bit about the background of some of the humans。 As with all the others in the series, it's a very enjoyable read and I'll be back for more (presumably next year)(Other 2021 Bingo categories for this novel are: "Found Family", "First Person POV", "Mystery Plot" and "Comfort Read")。 。。。more

I'll admit, I was confused。Coming after Network Effect, I assumed this was another novel, so I was a bit put off by the relatively low stakes at first。 (And how annoying the humans were。) Also, it has, as they say, "been a year," so maybe my memory of the last book was a little foggy。 But it sure seemed like the story was eliding over events from the previous novel。I guess this is where reading digital versions and avoiding previews for anything I know I'm going to read/watch comes back to get m I'll admit, I was confused。Coming after Network Effect, I assumed this was another novel, so I was a bit put off by the relatively low stakes at first。 (And how annoying the humans were。) Also, it has, as they say, "been a year," so maybe my memory of the last book was a little foggy。 But it sure seemed like the story was eliding over events from the previous novel。I guess this is where reading digital versions and avoiding previews for anything I know I'm going to read/watch comes back to get me。 Because not only is Fugitive Telemetry a novella, but it takes place before Network Effect。 Which explains a lot, like the relative lack of character development and why the humans are still running around going, "Oh, no! A SecUnit!" And also, WHERE IS ART?!?!?!?!?Judged on its merits, Fugitive Telemetry is a perfectly serviceable mystery of the week episode of The Murderbot Diaries。 After the initial human bickering, the story reveals itself to be a locked room mystery with fun bot cameos and a memorable closing set piece。 And while it lacks the gradual character growth that makes the series compelling, it does hint at a some interesting directions for future installments。 (I, for one, am eager to see Muderbot reteam with Special Investigator Aylen to track down a space serial killer。)That said, it's still a bit of a letdown after Network Effect。 With Murderbot reluctantly growing as a person throughout the series, it feels weird to hit pause on that。 But I have faith this is going somewhere and continue to look forward to more adventures。As long as they're weird。 。。。more

My assessment module says this book takes place sometime between books 4 and 5, but I don’t think the book actually specifies。 It left me a little confused and sad at the beginning, but I just told myself this is more 4。5 than #6 in the series。 After that things made a lot more sense。

Oh my gosh, a Murderbot murder mystery? Two of my favorite things in one book!

I really enjoy the series。 I listened to the audiobook which I felt was a bit overpriced but I would do it again。

The worst thing I can say about this is that I thought it was going to be novel length and I only got novella length。I love the story。 I love the character growth we see in murderbot。 I love the mystery and the action sequences。 I love where things are sitting at the end of the story。 I love murderbot。So so so excited that Wells just signed the contract for more books。 Can't wait to read all of them。 The worst thing I can say about this is that I thought it was going to be novel length and I only got novella length。I love the story。 I love the character growth we see in murderbot。 I love the mystery and the action sequences。 I love where things are sitting at the end of the story。 I love murderbot。So so so excited that Wells just signed the contract for more books。 Can't wait to read all of them。 。。。more

As I finished Martha Wells's Fugitive Telemetry, I was asking myself: What makes Murderbot so lovable? After all, you know, all murdery。 I think it's the contradictions。 One of its purposes is to kill some people while protecting others, but it tries really hard not to。 #Admirable。 It's very shy, something so many people either are or remember from high school。 #Relatable! It's imminently capable, a superhero for a future society, and who wouldn't want to be a superhero? #IWish。 I am unashamably As I finished Martha Wells's Fugitive Telemetry, I was asking myself: What makes Murderbot so lovable? I'm also a Martha Wells completionist, and while I admit I haven't actually achieved that goal, I urge you to check out her Raksura series。 I love it as much as I love Murderbot! Thank you, Martha, for being so amazing, just like Murderbot! 。。。more

Huzzah Murderbot is back in fine form。 They never leave Preservation Station, so we get to see their continuing journey towards becoming a more independent person。 While also solving the murder, of course。

I was happy to find and hear this on Storytel, because the price is indeed steep。 I liked it but I couldn't stay as invested as I was in Network Effect。 Still, I laughed every time Murderbot said it would rather be quiet watching media。 (Wouldn't we all?) Love the direction this headed。 Murderbot is kind of taking on a Sherlock vibe in the most twisted of ways。 Great to see how they interact and exist when on Preservation。 Each new entry is just a damn joy。

More Murderbot Please! This is not a full length novel but one of the diaries。 If you are new to this series I encourage, no demand you stop scrolling the reviews and just commit。 Murderbot is the most fun I've had reading in forever。 Great storytelling, fantastic wit, and a character you will love more than your middle child。 More Murderbot Please! This is not a full length novel but one of the diaries。 If you are new to this series I encourage, no demand you stop scrolling the reviews and just commit。 Murderbot is the most fun I've had reading in forever。 Great storytelling, fantastic wit, and a character you will love more than your middle child。 。。。more

Perfect, as expected I couldn't put this book down, I love murderbot, I love murderbot solving murder mysteries。 Heck, I would love just reading about murderbot doing nothing but watching the rise and fall of sanctuary moon。 Now I want to re-read this book instantly! Maybe I'll re-read network effect? Thank you again Martha Wells, Murderbot is so good for my soul。 I was actually so surprised at who the murderer was! Murderbot solves a murder!I love it so much。Also the more I listen to these the more I appreciate Kevin R Free, who didn't make much of an impression at first but his understated sarcastic performance really is perfect for murderbot。 Murderbot solves a murder!I love it so much。Also the more I listen to these the more I appreciate Kevin R Free, who didn't make much of an impression at first but his understated sarcastic performance really is perfect for murderbot。 。。。more

It was fun to read。 My only complain is that there is no change, no progress in relationship between Murderbot and its humans (or Murderbot and itself), but it was clearly not the focus of this particular installment in the series。

If we exclude the fifth in the series, all of the books in the Murderbot series are novella length so I enjoyed reading Rin's story in a couple of hours spent just fine。This time too, the adventure, which could be considered a detective story, with Murderbot as Poirot, takes place on Preservation Station and the topic is paradoxically very timely。As always I can't wait to read the next one, I'm developing an addiction, like his to Sanctuary Moon。 Se escludiamo il quinto della serie, tutti i libr If we exclude the fifth in the series, all of the books in the Murderbot series are novella length so I enjoyed reading Rin's story in a couple of hours spent just fine。This time too, the adventure, which could be considered a detective story, with Murderbot as Poirot, takes place on Preservation Station and the topic is paradoxically very timely。As always I can't wait to read the next one, I'm developing an addiction, like his to Sanctuary Moon。 Se escludiamo il quinto della serie, tutti i libri della serie Murderbot hanno la lunghezza di una novella e quindi mi sono divertita a leggere la storia di Rin in un paio d'ore spese proprio bene。Anche stavolta l'avventura, che potrebbe essere considerato un giallo, con Murderboot nei panni di Poirot, ha luogo su Preservation Station e l'argomento é paradossalmente molto attuale。Come sempre non vedo l'ora di leggere il prossimo, sto sviluppando una dipendenza, tipo la sua da Sanctuary Moon。 I received a complimentary copy from the publisher in exchange for a honest review。 。。。more

My favourite ongoing series and honestly probably in my top three fav series of all time。 Murderbot is just the best

Dima

Reads super well, and as pleasurable as the previous adventures。 Would have preferred some more of the deeper exploration of the evolving personality, and perhaps something a bit more engaging。 It felt shallow-ish frankly, especially in comparison to previous work。

Wild

I think this might be my favorite of the series。

Karl

This series is so “more-ish”, I love the writing, I try to slowly savour it, but I consume it so quickly。 I love Murderbot’s internal voice, so dry, so fluid, so modern。 I really enjoyed this and continue to enjoy the Murderbot universe。

Steven Paulsen

I enjoyed this, although not as much as the previous books in the series。 Not sure why, it’s still very good, perhaps it was my state of mind, but somehow for me it lacked some of the vibrancy, humour, and intrigue of the previous books in the series。

It's Murderbot! This was always going to be 5 stars。 It could've been a hundred pages of Murderbot sitting alone watching serials and I would give it 5 stars。Anyway, obviously I absolutely adored it (view spoiler)[and blorp is my new favourite word (hide spoiler)] and I'll be buying the audiobook as soon possible。 It's Murderbot! I love Murderbot! I think it's one of my top favourite fictional characters in general。 Trouble is, I can never engage with any of its humans, except maybe Dr Mensah。 The rest are pretty generic and seem like they just serve a plot function; they are fundamentally replaceable (unlike f。ex。 the series' bot/AI/construct characters such as ART)。 Usually, it's Murderbot's interaction with those others constructs that rescues the books for me, but this one falls short。 I didn't find the investigation I love Murderbot! Another delightful entry in the Murderbot Diaries。 This one is a locked-room mystery and very compelling。

I don't think I can express enough how much I LOVE Murderbot。 It's sarcastic side comments made me laugh out loud several times。 As I was listening to the audiobook with narrator Kevin R。 Free, who I know think actually is Murderbot itself in disguise, he is that goood, I was glad I was alone at the time。 I really hope this series will continue, because I will be reading/listening with enthusiasm。 I don't think I can express enough how much I LOVE Murderbot。 It's sarcastic side comments made me laugh out loud several times。 As I was listening to the audiobook with narrator Kevin R。 Free, who I know think actually is Murderbot itself in disguise, he is that goood, I was glad I was alone at the time。 I really hope this series will continue, because I will be reading/listening with enthusiasm。 。。。more
