Summary

Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III was an awesome sword-fighter, a dragon-whisperer and the greatest Viking hero who ever lived - but it wasn't always like that。 Hiccup's memoirs look back to when Hiccup was just an ordinary boy, and finding it very hard to be a hero。

It was good, I liked the first one better。 But I loved the movies and show so much more!

I adore this series。 Sticking with the audiobooks cause David Tennant。 Swoon。

Brilliant。 Just like the first in the series。

As a fan of the show, I continue to be disappointed by the books。 Still, this one was better than the first。 Snotlout is very irritating, and Hiccup's character shines all the brighter (a detail lost in the tv adaptations)。 Stoick's awesomeness was pretty cool。 Mixed feelings I guess。 Will continue, while trying to appreciate the book as something independent and previous to the movies and shows。 As a fan of the show, I continue to be disappointed by the books。 Still, this one was better than the first。 Snotlout is very irritating, and Hiccup's character shines all the brighter (a detail lost in the tv adaptations)。 Stoick's awesomeness was pretty cool。 Mixed feelings I guess。 Will continue, while trying to appreciate the book as something independent and previous to the movies and shows。 。。。more

How to be a Pirate continues to do what the first book was best at, being a simple, silly, but interesting story。 Experienced readers will find the story a bit too predictable probably, and movie watchers will be potential disappointed that it has no obvious influence on the DreamWorks films, but I think it's a great book for early readers to get a taste of。My main complaint is that the story is presented as a volume of a memoir, but there's a scene that takes place between two dragons, and woul How to be a Pirate continues to do what the first book was best at, being a simple, silly, but interesting story。 Experienced readers will find the story a bit too predictable probably, and movie watchers will be potential disappointed that it has no obvious influence on the DreamWorks films, but I think it's a great book for early readers to get a taste of。My main complaint is that the story is presented as a volume of a memoir, but there's a scene that takes place between two dragons, and wouldn't make sense for a memoir, which breaks the in world lore a bit。 。。。more

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 Not as good as the first one, but still pretty good。 There's quite a lot to like here, but there's also a couple things I really don't like。 Alvin the Treacherous's introduction is excellent, I love the treasure hunt plot set up in the story, and Hiccup's realization that he's left handed is one of my favorite moments of the whole series。 The book doesn't really go anywhere with the other characters though, other than Hiccup and Alvin。 I don't really have much to say about this book, other than, Not as good as the first one, but still pretty good。 There's quite a lot to like here, but there's also a couple things I really don't like。 Alvin the Treacherous's introduction is excellent, I love the treasure hunt plot set up in the story, and Hiccup's realization that he's left handed is one of my favorite moments of the whole series。 The book doesn't really go anywhere with the other characters though, other than Hiccup and Alvin。 I don't really have much to say about this book, other than, it's good。 。。。more

I liked this book sooooo much better on a second reading。 My kids didn't remember me reading it to them almost 2 years ago, but I remembered some of the twists and turns that happened, and it was a bit more fun seeing my left-handed son brighten up when he was able to relate to Hiccup being left-handed。 I love the twist toward the end regarding the monstrous strangulator and Hiccup's very mature decision regarding some treasure。Initially, this series was one of those EXTREMELY rare cases in whic I liked this book sooooo much better on a second reading。 My kids didn't remember me reading it to them almost 2 years ago, but I remembered some of the twists and turns that happened, and it was a bit more fun seeing my left-handed son brighten up when he was able to relate to Hiccup being left-handed。 I love the twist toward the end regarding the monstrous strangulator and Hiccup's very mature decision regarding some treasure。Initially, this series was one of those EXTREMELY rare cases in which I prefer the movie to the books, but when I keep them separated in my mind, I don't mind the books so much now。 Very entertaining series to read, and my 7-year-old sure loves them。 。。。more

Reread。 I couldn't focus on the audiobook (though it is still great - I just wasn't in the right mood) so I read the book。 An extremely quick read! This book introduces Alvin the poor but honest farmer and does a great job of moving on from the first book。 The finale of this book is perhaps the most memorable and spectacular of the series (though the first book gives it a run for its money)! I really did not like the first book in this series and had no intention of continuing with it。 I was reading Goodreads reviews and someone had written that they listened to the audiobook read by David Tennant。 What?!? Tennant is one of my favourite actors。 I knew that I had to listen to the audiobook。 It was a wise choice。 I now plan to continue the series as audiobooks since Tennant does them all。 David Tennant brings an element to the audiobook that I did not get with the physical book。 He br I really did not like the first book in this series and had no intention of continuing with it。 I was reading Goodreads reviews and someone had written that they listened to the audiobook read by David Tennant。 What?!? It wasn't nearly as good as I expected and very different from the movies。 though that is to be expected 😅 I would probably read them before watching the movies if I got the chance to but it was better than the first book in my opinion so three out of five。 It wasn't nearly as good as I expected and very different from the movies。 though that is to be expected 😅 I would probably read them before watching the movies if I got the chance to but it was better than the first book in my opinion so three out of five。 。。。more

There's something special about children literature, especially when a book was about children, you just see read a story from the eyes of a kid。 Grown up or kids, children literature is really fun to read, Cowell knew how to make you fall in love with Hiccup Horrendous Haddock the at third。 I love watching 'How to Train your Dragon' with my goddaughter。 I share a connection with a movie but I feel book and movies are absolutely different。 'How to Be a pirate' is the second book of How to Train There's something special about children literature, especially when a book was about children, you just see read a story from the eyes of a kid。 Grown up or kids, children literature is really fun to read, Cowell knew how to make you fall in love with Hiccup Horrendous Haddock the at third。 I love watching 'How to Train your Dragon' with my goddaughter。 I share a connection with a movie but I feel book and movies are absolutely different。 'How to Be a pirate' is the second book of How to Train your Dragon series。 Book is more inclined to the childhood of hiccup and the world of dragons and Vikings。 P。 S。 Best book to gift to kids and for some adults too。 。。。more

Yassss! How To Be A Pirate is the second book in the How To Train Your Dragon book series。 I read the first book last year after I found it in a charity shop。 I’d before watched the first film and absolutely fell in love with the story and wanted to see where it originated from。 I actually purchased the book series from the Scholasticinc website, which meant that a portion of the money I spent would be sent to a school of my choice for them to spend on books for their students。 I thought this was a real How To Be A Pirate is the second book in the How To Train Your Dragon book series。 I read the first book last year after I found it in a charity shop。 I’d before watched the first film and absolutely fell in love with the story and wanted to see where it originated from。 I actually purchased the book series from the Scholasticinc website, which meant that a portion of the money I spent would be sent to a school of my choice for them to spend on books for their students。 I thought this was a really lovely idea, and will definitely be making either a post or video about soon! I'll also for sure be using the site again in the future! -In regards to the book, I didn’t feel the same connection and excitement as I felt for the first book, but I still thoroughly enjoyed it。 I enjoyed learning more about little Toothless’ strange personality and seeing the subtle ways that he cares for Hiccup, even if he doesn’t want to show it。 I love the way that the Hairy Hooligans are always somehow finding themselves mixed up in some sort of trouble that they need to wriggle their way out of。 The whole How To Train Your Dragon franchise has really helped keep me company and distracted during this strange time and so I felt a really strong sense of comfort when reading through the second book。 I just felt as though I was able to chill out and enjoy an easy-to-get-into story and not have to worry about anything else that was going on in the real world。 You can read an extended version of this review on my Wordpress blog at: https://loiereads。wordpress。com/2021/。。。 。。。more
