I don't know how to rate different editions separately, so they are both here。 The board book version gets 3 stars because I liked the art, but it was too simple。 The regular version gets 4 stars。 Same art, but more text and information。 I don't know how to rate different editions separately, so they are both here。 The board book version gets 3 stars because I liked the art, but it was too simple。 The regular version gets 4 stars。 Same art, but more text and information。 。。。more

Although I knew Ada Lovelace is considered the first computer programmer, I didn’t know of her rather lonely childhood, nearly abandoned by her famous parents, or that those parents had gendered flip-flops of careers to some extent, or that she was sickly in her youth。 Amazing what so much unstructured free time can do for a kid。 Kinda like becoming your own teacher, like Maria Montessori taught (just finished reading that Big Dreams book)。

The true story of Ada Lovelace, mother of the computer and the first computer programmer。

A picture book biography of Ada Lovelace。I've read a couple of picture books about Ada now。 This still managed to introduce 1 or 2 things I hadn't learned in the other books about her。 This just gives a very vague idea of what she did to invent the code that would eventually be the basis of computer coding, some other picture book biographies go into more details。 So if you want just the basics, this is a good pick for a biography on this math genius。 A picture book biography of Ada Lovelace。I've read a couple of picture books about Ada now。 This still managed to introduce 1 or 2 things I hadn't learned in the other books about her。 This just gives a very vague idea of what she did to invent the code that would eventually be the basis of computer coding, some other picture book biographies go into more details。 So if you want just the basics, this is a good pick for a biography on this math genius。 。。。more

Sukaaa。。。 Meskipun nunggu bukunya datang dari bwb cukup degdegan, karena udah sebulan lewat。 Biografinya cukup menarik, walopun sederhana bgt。 Ya iyalah ya, ini kan buat anak-anak。 Bentuknya boardbook pula。 Cakep deh pokoknya。

Such an adorable, simplified short story on the life of a great woman in a series of Little People, Big Dreams! Love it!

What a great addition to the series, featuring this prominent female mathematician and first computer programmer who built on Charles Babbage’s invention, the Difference Engine。 Yamamoto’s illustrations are enjoyable without overpowering the narrative。 As usual, the text biography with photos as backmatter, including that Ada’s mother was an accomplished mathematician, and her father was the poet Lord Byron。

This introduction to Ada Lovelace's life and work is short and cute, with enough basic facts to make it an alright fit for children interested in history, programming, or Ada Lovelace specifically。 It seems like a good place to start, since there are other picture books with more/better details。 I'm not exactly in love with the art for this one。 It probably wouldn't be the first Ada Lovelace book I'd recommend, but it isn't a bad starting point。 This introduction to Ada Lovelace's life and work is short and cute, with enough basic facts to make it an alright fit for children interested in history, programming, or Ada Lovelace specifically。 It seems like a good place to start, since there are other picture books with more/better details。 I'm not exactly in love with the art for this one。 It probably wouldn't be the first Ada Lovelace book I'd recommend, but it isn't a bad starting point。 。。。more

This is another lovely addition to the “My first Little people, BIG DREAMS” series。 It tells the story of Ada Lovelace, a talented mathematician and the world’s first computer programmer。 I adored the illustrations in this, and how well they told the story。 I’m so happy that there is a book introducing kids to Ada Lovelace now that a big part of our lives contain a sort of computer, be it in one form or the other。

I used this book, among others in the series, in a unit about biographies for seventh grade。 Even among my seventh graders, who initially were annoyed that I'd brought them children's books, they found this set quite enjoyable (and wanted to make their own)。From a teacher-perspective, these are super-helpful as ways to build student recognition of how images are used to tell stories (information within the picture, messages from parts of the image, symbolism, etc) and how we tell stories to make I used this book, among others in the series, in a unit about biographies for seventh grade。 Even among my seventh graders, who initially were annoyed that I'd brought them children's books, they found this set quite enjoyable (and wanted to make their own)。From a teacher-perspective, these are super-helpful as ways to build student recognition of how images are used to tell stories (information within the picture, messages from parts of the image, symbolism, etc) and how we tell stories to make them easy for younger children to digest。 。。。more

2。5 stars。 It was good to see that the illustrations in this book were not anachronistic as most in this series seem to be, particularly regarding the clothes worn which gives the reader a visual setting for the time period so is important to get right。 I did find this one very vague, however young the reader might be I don't think they needed to say that Ada was bedridden for several years with an illness。 I have no idea why the author didn't say she had measles。 Also the text mentions Ada's fa 2。5 stars。 It was good to see that the illustrations in this book were not anachronistic as most in this series seem to be, particularly regarding the clothes worn which gives the reader a visual setting for the time period so is important to get right。 I did find this one very vague, however young the reader might be I don't think they needed to say that Ada was bedridden for several years with an illness。 I have no idea why the author didn't say she had measles。 Also the text mentions Ada's father loved poetry, I don't know why his name wasn't mentioned or why he was described as someone who loved poetry rather than saying he was a poet。 I prefer the illustration style to some of the more cartoon like styles they have used in this series but these do have the oversized heads and I think oversimplified drawings along with the oversimplified text, leaves the reader feeling they haven't gained much from this book。 。。。more

-Pre-K to second grade -Ada Lovelace was the first female computer programmer。 Read about her as a child and what happened to lead her to program computers。 - While Ada Lovelace had a very interesting left this book gives only the most important information。 this book is easy to follow and does not come off as a long history book。 It's interesting and short。 -Create a timeline of her life and special events。 What do you want to do one day?
