Summary

A bride’s dream honeymoon becomes a nightmare when a man with whom she’s had a regrettable one-night stand shows up in this psychological thriller from the author of Eight Perfect Murders。 Abigail Baskin never thought she’d fall in love with a millionaire。 Then she met Bruce Lamb。 But right before the wedding, Abigail has a drunken one-night stand on her bachelorette weekend。 She puts the incident—and the sexy guy who wouldn’t give her his real name—out of her mind, and now believes she wants to be with Bruce for the rest of her life。

Then the mysterious stranger suddenly appears—and Abigail’s future life and happiness are turned upside down。 He insists that their passionate night was the beginning of something special and he’s tracked her down to prove it。

Does she tell Bruce and ruin their idyllic honeymoon—and possibly their marriage? Or should she handle this psychopathic stalker on her own? To make the situation worse, strange things begin to happen。 She sees a terrified woman in the night shadows, and no one at the resort seems to believe anything is amiss… including her perfect new husband。

Peter Swanson! You know how to write some twists! I listened to this book in audiobook form and finished within 24 hours because it was that good! If you like any kinds of twists and turns read this one!! Abigail is engaged to be married when she meets a handsome stranger。 On her honeymoon something just isn’t quite right。 Twists and turns galore。

I’ll preface this by saying: this was a good book! If you like thrillers I would definitely recommend it!However。。。 not my favorite Peter Swanson novel, by a long shot。 I’m always excited to see a new release by him, one of my favorite authors, but this one was a bit of a disappointment。 The general plot is a bit of an overdone trope (woman goes to beautiful remote resort on what should be a dream vacation but turns out to be a nightmare — I’ve read SO many books that fit this description。) It’s I’ll preface this by saying: this was a good book! It’s more of 3。5 stars。 I enjoy a good thriller。 However this seemed slow at the beginning, almost predictable。 Still well written and enjoyable。

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 Yeah, Every Vow You Break wasn't good。 The basis of the story: Abigail not making smart decisions and not trusting her gut instincts, and rich men being trash (but that is nothing new)。 I ended up guessing where the majority of the story was going, the ending felt implausible as well。 The only reason that this is getting 2 stars is because I couldn't put it down and I ended up reading it in one day。I read this book for the Literary Dead Book Club。 I'm looking forward to the liveshow and seeing w Yeah, Every Vow You Break wasn't good。 The basis of the story: Abigail not making smart decisions and not trusting her gut instincts, and rich men being trash (but that is nothing new)。 I ended up guessing where the majority of the story was going, the ending felt implausible as well。 The only reason that this is getting 2 stars is because I couldn't put it down and I ended up reading it in one day。I read this book for the Literary Dead Book Club。 I'm looking forward to the liveshow and seeing what other people thought of this book。 。。。more

I really liked his other books, but this was creepy and disturbing。 I also didn't feel the characters were well developed。 Would not recommend, but his other books are definitely recommended。 I really liked his other books, but this was creepy and disturbing。 I also didn't feel the characters were well developed。 Would not recommend, but his other books are definitely recommended。 。。。more

Boring and predictable。 Poor judgment brings on so many difficulties。 How can these characters be surprised (maybe even stunned) when things turn out badly? Once things start going downhill, it just keeps picking up speed。I didn't finish the whole book, however I skimmed and then read all the spoilers。 Yep, just what I expected。 Glad I took the short cut。 Boring and predictable。 Poor judgment brings on so many difficulties。 How can these characters be surprised (maybe even stunned) when things turn out badly? I probably only enjoyed 2 chapters of this book。 It was on everyone's most anticipated thrillers list, but honestly the first 1/2 didn't even feel like a thriller, not saying that the last half is any better。 I probably only enjoyed 2 chapters of this book。 It was on everyone's most anticipated thrillers list, but honestly the first 1/2 didn't even feel like a thriller, not saying that the last half is any better。 。。。more

Okay enough。 A little creepy。 Not as twisty as I like my psychological thrillers。

3。5 stars。I find it rather dull at first but the plot managed to pick up in the middle till the end。 Overall still a good read。

There were parts of this book that were definitely predictable, but that didn't take away from my enjoyment of it。 The way the author built up the tension was masterful, and after a certain point I couldn't stop reading because I had to see how it would end。I have a few more books by this author on my TBR and will definitely check them out。 There were parts of this book that were definitely predictable, but that didn't take away from my enjoyment of it。 The way the author built up the tension was masterful, and after a certain point I couldn't stop reading because I had to see how it would end。I have a few more books by this author on my TBR and will definitely check them out。 。。。more

Not really sure how I feel about this one。 I loved the isolated setting and the story kept me entertained enough, but the ending was so ridiculous that I couldn’t stop rolling my eyes。

I have to say I really liked this story and it kept my attention until the end。 I gave this book 4-4,5 stars。 I do and don’t like the character of Abigail。 I do like her toughness and determination during it all, but I don’t like the fact that she plays the victim in the betrayal, because she chose to cheat on her fiancé and wasn’t forced。 I think the characters of Bruce and Eric are a bit flat, because not much inside was given。 I would recommend this book to others。

In 'Every Vow You Break', Abigail is on a honeymoon with her millionaire husband Bruce。 The opulence and exclusivity of it all is marred by the unexpected appearance of Scottie, whom she slept with on her bachelorette weekend。 The honeymoon is about to get bitter…I was drawn by the remote setting and the suspenseful atmosphere。 Unfortunately, the bulk of the story was repetitive, revolving around Abigail mulling over him, keeping her infidelity a secret and analyzing her relationship。The charact In 'Every Vow You Break', Abigail is on a honeymoon with her millionaire husband Bruce。 The opulence and exclusivity of it all is marred by the unexpected appearance of Scottie, whom she slept with on her bachelorette weekend。 The honeymoon is about to get bitter…I was drawn by the remote setting and the suspenseful atmosphere。 Unfortunately, the bulk of the story was repetitive, revolving around Abigail mulling over him, keeping her infidelity a secret and analyzing her relationship。The characters were unlikeable and extremely boring。 Abigail's poor judgment and slew of bad decisions were exasperating。 Bruce was blah to the max, Scottie was pesky rather than creepy, Abigail's best friend was written in only when required and the others were forgettable。The denouement was abysmal, mainly due to the far-fetched and moronic revelation: (view spoiler)[- The honeymoon place was founded and funded by wealthy men whose aim was to punish their unfaithful wives。 The atrocious writing failed to convince me as to why anyone would waste so much time and money on that when there are many other viable options at hand。- Bruce hired Scottie (real name Eric but who cares) to test Abigail through seduction。 Even though she failed, he continued to wine and dine her。 Illogicality at its prime。- Throughout the ordeal, she prioritized feeding and hydrating herself。 Why run for the hills when you've got a group of unhinged men looking for you, right?(hide spoiler)]The ending was predictable and too tidy。 Abigail (view spoiler)[escaped and the investigation was going well (hide spoiler)] The most unrealistic thing was her being (view spoiler)[emotionally unaffected。 She was not traumatized and did not feel anything concerning Bruce。 (hide spoiler)]Overall, 'Every Vow You Break' was a quick, mindless read that hit the high score in terms of monotony, unimaginativeness and inconceivability。 。。。more

This book is a pile of misogynistic trash。 Just because you can put out a book a year does not mean you should。

I discovered Peter Swanson when I read his "Eight Perfect Murders" earlier this year。 I enjoyed that disturbing novel - especially given that so much of the story took place in my old Beacon Hill neighborhood in Boston。This latest effort by Mr。 Swanson was hard for me to rate。 On one hand, I found it to be a captivating page turner, one I had trouble putting down。 I always avoid going into plot details in these reviews to avoid spoilers, but I was intrigued by the general premise of a newlywed c I discovered Peter Swanson when I read his "Eight Perfect Murders" earlier this year。 I enjoyed that disturbing novel - especially given that so much of the story took place in my old Beacon Hill neighborhood in Boston。This latest effort by Mr。 Swanson was hard for me to rate。 On one hand, I found it to be a captivating page turner, one I had trouble putting down。 I always avoid going into plot details in these reviews to avoid spoilers, but I was intrigued by the general premise of a newlywed couple not being who they appear to be。 And the impact of its isolated island setting reminded me of Lucy Foley's "The Guest List" and "The Hunting Party" - two other thrillers I enjoyed。But。。。I'm ambivalent about the overall novel for two closely related reasons。 First, the plot ends up being a little hard to believe once it plays out。 I just felt as if the author was asking a lot of the reader in terms of suspending his or her disbelief。 Second, and closely related, I'm not sure how I felt about the ending。 The climax not only strained credibility, but it seemed somewhat of a letdown after all the suspense leading up to it。Consequently, I struggled with what to rate this novel。 It definitely didn't warrant five stars, but I was torn between three and four。 I ultimately decided on four because I loved 85-90% of the book。 。。。more

4/5 starsThis thriller follows a woman named Abigail, who after getting married to her ridiculously rich husband, goes on honeymoon with him to a secluded island。 Abigail is shocked when she runs into the stranger she slept with at her bachelorette party and realized he's been stalking her all the way from her wedding。 She scrambles trying to find a way to deal with her seemingly unhinged stalker without her husband finding out she cheated on him right before the wedding。 - very mild spoilers 4/5 starsThis thriller follows a woman named Abigail, who after getting married to her ridiculously rich husband, goes on honeymoon with him to a secluded island。 Abigail is shocked when she runs into the stranger she slept with at her bachelorette party and realized he's been stalking her all the way from her wedding。 She scrambles trying to find a way to deal with her seemingly unhinged stalker without her husband finding out she cheated on him right before the wedding。 - very mild spoilers aheadI really struggled with giving this a 3 or a 4, but I think I'm gonna go with a 4 because overall this was a pretty fun and engaging read。 And although the "twist" was pretty predictable, I still think it was smartly done。 The reason I'm leaning more towards giving this a 3 is that the MC really is sooooooo dumb for not seeing all of the red flags, she couldn't see Bruce was a shady piece of shit past all of his money。 Also I'm not sure if this is a book that will hold up as time passes or if it's one of those I'm going to forget by next week。 Only time will tell haha。I see a lot of reviews saying that this book isn't as good comparable to Peter Swanson's other works, but since this is the first book I've read from him I'm gonna call it a success。 I definitely will be adding his backlist titles to my TBR。 。。。more

Well, that was a page turner。 Abigail decided to make a go of a last time fling while on her bachelorette outing and said fling follows her and her groom on their honeymoon。 The nerve, right? Wow。 The twists and turns and betrayals abound。 I like how dark and weird it got in the end。 Very fun read。
