I already knew a lot of things while reading this book, hence my low rating。This book does provide some great short and punchy tips, easily applicable to any speech。 I appreciate the examples he gives, i。e。 the TED talks。 They help the readers see how the techniques are used in context。Quick and to the point! I would have loved some exercises at the end。 3。5/5

The simple book that can cover most of the common mistakes of amateur slide designers。 But it is only suitable for the newbies, the beginners。 I wonder if the writer had not mention the situation that we can not transit the word to the picture and some abstracting information。 If anybody read my comment, can you please show me some books discussing about the slideshow design like this one? Thanks alot!

As a public-speaking reference, this is fairly solid: a quick read that gets right to the point, no fluff or wasted words (plus chapter summaries and a tips reference list at the end)。 However, this also means concepts are simplified and expressed in absolutes, and there's some repetition where some of the 23 tips could be easily combined or are just the same idea framed differently。Worse, there's a lack of human empathy which leads to a TED Talk about domestic abuse being distilled to "Look at As a public-speaking reference, this is fairly solid: a quick read that gets right to the point, no fluff or wasted words (plus chapter summaries and a tips reference list at the end)。 However, this also means concepts are simplified and expressed in absolutes, and there's some repetition where some of the 23 tips could be easily combined or are just the same idea framed differently。Worse, there's a lack of human empathy which leads to a TED Talk about domestic abuse being distilled to "Look at this powerful example of [narrative] conflict" and to an in-depth discussion of the graphic details of sheep castration。 。。。more

A very good tool to really improve your storytelling。I have been a natural storyteller my whole life with almost no formal training and I learned a tremendous amount of key things I can do to improve my technique。 It is a very good improvement tool。

Practical (analyzing well known TED talks and explaining why they were constructing their speeches as they did), but a rather short one to read。 Those things could have been written in an article, rather then a book。

This isn't so much a book as it is a blog post。 Very short, and without depth。 On the other hand, the bullet points are solid。 And the brevity matches the TED Talks to which it refers -- it took about 18 minutes to read, if that。 This isn't so much a book as it is a blog post。 Very short, and without depth。 On the other hand, the bullet points are solid。 And the brevity matches the TED Talks to which it refers -- it took about 18 minutes to read, if that。 。。。more

This information is 100x more effective than the public speaking class i took in college! This book is the perfect size for everyone, especially science and engineering students I usually have to listen to on regular basis。 If more scientists adopt some of the friendlier aspects described in this book when they speak to the public, I’m sure science will be better received by our society。

The book has straight forward points on good presentations with some key ideas on how to execute them。 If you don't have a lot of time and you prefer a book to know more about the presentation give it a go。 It's a small book with 72 pages。 However, I found myself reading the same stories, again and again, also a lot of unstructured explanations of the process author trying to explain。 I feel like it could all put into 17 min video instead of 70 pages。 The book has straight forward points on good presentations with some key ideas on how to execute them。 If you don't have a lot of time and you prefer a book to know more about the presentation give it a go。 It's a small book with 72 pages。 However, I found myself reading the same stories, again and again, also a lot of unstructured explanations of the process author trying to explain。 I feel like it could all put into 17 min video instead of 70 pages。 。。。more

Easy read with lots of great, easy to implement advise。 Can definitely read it in one sitting。 I will definitely keep it close by when writing my speeches from now on。

A book (well, looks more like a long article) that squeezes the most essential commonalities in a variety of popular TED talks and puts the learning points there on the table。 This piece of reading can be finished in around half-hour if not counting the referred TED videos。 I've got some mixed feelings of both empowerment and emptiness like I am reading cheat-codes :| A book (well, looks more like a long article) that squeezes the most essential commonalities in a variety of popular TED talks and puts the learning points there on the table。 This piece of reading can be finished in around half-hour if not counting the referred TED videos。 I've got some mixed feelings of both empowerment and emptiness like I am reading cheat-codes :| 。。。more

A quick ready reference to remind us of the power of communicating well。 I particularly found the end of chapter summaries helpful。 Works best if used alongside watching the Ted talks featured。 Keep this book to hand for inspiration and to keep storytelling alive and well。

Not a bad one。I this book, author talks about a very significant & important part of public speaking-Story Telling。If you have already read Talk Like TED,the masterwork of public speaking, you can also check this book for a bit more advice of mastering public speaking。Here author describes the basic to advanced structure of a story。In a good story, you have to have a charecter,a conflict,a spark,a change of the charecter & most important,a clear tkeway。In addition of reading this book, you also get Not a bad one。I this book, author talks about a very significant & important part of public speaking-Story Telling。If you have already read Talk Like TED,the masterwork of public speaking, you can also check this book for a bit more advice of mastering public speaking。Here author describes the basic to advanced structure of a story。In a good story, you have to have a charecter,a conflict,a spark,a change of the charecter & most important,a clear tkeway。In addition of reading this book, you also get access of som of the paid course, ebook etc from the author totlly free。I suggst you, just check it out once。。you won't regrate for that。。 。。。more

A very fascinating and useful guide。 Reading it in half an hour, I did very much enjoy the ride through ideas Akash so mesmerizingly illustrated。 Somewhere in the middle of the book, it gets somehow obscure and dull although overall a delightful swift read。

Very shallow principles for telling stories。 Could be summed up as follows: Tell stories, use sensory details and dialogues, give conflict and make characters overcome conflict with the help of a principle that the listeners can take home and use themselves。

This was a quick yet informative read about TED Talks, with lots of tips for telling a better story。 Near the end of the book, there was a section about Seth Godin and how he tells a great story。 I'd recommend this one to others who are interested in becoming better public speakers。 This was a quick yet informative read about TED Talks, with lots of tips for telling a better story。 Near the end of the book, there was a section about Seth Godin and how he tells a great story。 I'd recommend this one to others who are interested in becoming better public speakers。 。。。more

3。5/5 🌟This isn't the book that tells multiple stories though it gives you examples which are very relatable as most of them are very popular Ted talks of all timesFacts highlighted in this books are undeniable and almost true in all regards there are few things that I wouldn't be using as there is a professional code which partially apply to the people whose example is given 。。。You have to see the videos too which is referred in the book they are very excellent and my all time favorite。 3。5/5 🌟This isn't the book that tells multiple stories though it gives you examples which are very relatable as most of them are very popular Ted talks of all timesFacts highlighted in this books are undeniable and almost true in all regards there are few things that I wouldn't be using as there is a professional code which partially apply to the people whose example is given 。。。You have to see the videos too which is referred in the book they are very excellent and my all time favorite。 。。。more

A quick easy read (maybe like 15 min?) but should probably be used more as a guide while actually writing a talk so you can remember to add in his strategies while crafting。 Storytelling is incredibly powerful and he uses some great examples to bring home his points。 A good book to have with you as you write your next talk!
