Winter Santiaga hit time served。 Still stunning, still pretty, still bold, still loves her father more than any man in the world, still got her hustle and high fashion flow。 She’s eager to pay back her enemies, rebuild her father’s empire, reset his crown, and ultimately to snatch Midnight back into her life no matter which bitch had him while she was locked up。 But Winter is not the only one with revenge on her mind。 Simone, Winter’s young business partner and friend, is locked and loaded and Winter is her target。 Will she blow Winter’s head off? Can Winter dodge the bullets? Or will at least one bullet blast Winter into another world? Either way Winter is fearless。 Hell is the same as any hood and certainly the Brooklyn hood she grew up in。 That’s what Winter thinks。

A heartwarming, heart-burning, passionate, sexual, comical, and completely original adventure is about to happen in real time—raw, shocking, soulful, and shameless。 True fans won’t let Winter travel alone on this amazing journey。

Confusing, unpredictable, masterful & entertaining。。。wrapped up the story nicely。 Well done!I too am a writer (though I'm not nearly at Sister Souljah's) level。 So I understand how hard it is to write a sequel when the first story was so successful, ALOT of time has passed, and people were so invested in the characters。 About 97% of the story went in a direction that I didn't understand and didn't like。 But the more I read it the more I understood the messages in the book and the more I rooted f Confusing, unpredictable, masterful & entertaining。。。wrapped up the story nicely。 Well done!I too am a writer (though I'm not nearly at Sister Souljah's) level。 So I understand how hard it is to write a sequel when the first story was so successful, ALOT of time has passed, and people were so invested in the characters。 About 97% of the story went in a direction that I didn't understand and didn't like。 But the more I read it the more I understood the messages in the book and the more I rooted for Winter's growth and maturity。 If you're not a spiritual person you may not like this book, regardless of what or whom you worship。 But now that I've read it I can say that I thoroughly enjoyed it。 。。。more

I'm a tad bit disappointed, but I also see where Sister Souljah was going with this story。 The message was received, it was an original story and clever in some parts but mostly bad writing。 The growth that Winter was supposed to have after experiencing “Life After Death” never came。 She remained immature, self-centered, arrogant, and petty throughout the book, right up to the very end。 Her infatuation with fashion and material things annoyed me so bad and how does a 30-year-old woman not know a I'm a tad bit disappointed, but I also see where Sister Souljah was going with this story。 The message was received, it was an original story and clever in some parts but mostly bad writing。 The growth that Winter was supposed to have after experiencing “Life After Death” never came。 She remained immature, self-centered, arrogant, and petty throughout the book, right up to the very end。 Her infatuation with fashion and material things annoyed me so bad and how does a 30-year-old woman not know anything。 I think S。S。 overdid it with Winter’s arrested development。 I was way too annoyed with her ignorance and how she talked。 I think S。S。 didn't think about her audience when she sat down to write this book。 She went completely left and tapped into a whole new genre that I believe her followers were not expecting。 I appreciate the message I just think the story itself was too juvenile for me。 。。。more

I tried。。。I tried。。。I tried。。。。。seriously who approved this book to be published。 It reminds me of Eddie Murphy just putting together and starring in several movies to fulfill his contract。 HE DIDN'T CARE IF THEY WERE GOOD OR BAD。This book was Awful。 I almost made it to chapter 4。 I want my money back for the book and I want my time back。 The story line was RIDICULOUS, from what I could gather。Sister Soulja no redeeming yourself from this。。。 I tried。。。I tried。。。I tried。。。。。seriously who approved this book to be published。 It reminds me of Eddie Murphy just putting together and starring in several movies to fulfill his contract。 HE DIDN'T CARE IF THEY WERE GOOD OR BAD。This book was Awful。 I almost made it to chapter 4。 I want my money back for the book and I want my time back。 The story line was RIDICULOUS, from what I could gather。Sister Soulja no redeeming yourself from this。。。 。。。more

I wish I had heeded the reviews of this book and had not still decided to purchase it to sate any curiosity。 Life After Death is aggressively awful。 I have already wasted £17 on this book and refuse to devote further energy to it, beyond this review。 Other reviews have summarised just how abominable it is, much better than I can be bothered to。I will summarise with: - Winter remains irredeemable and her adoration for her father is borderline incestuous - The author's failure to research or under I wish I had heeded the reviews of this book and had not still decided to purchase it to sate any curiosity。 Life After Death is aggressively awful。 I have already wasted £17 on this book and refuse to devote further energy to it, beyond this review。 Other reviews have summarised just how abominable it is, much better than I can be bothered to。I will summarise with: - Winter remains irredeemable and her adoration for her father is borderline incestuous - The author's failure to research or understand some of the worlds she references is embarrassing to read: a failed dope dealer was released from a life without parole prison sentence to participate in a peripheral role in a reality show。 The star of said show, a woman with no discernible public profile, earned $800,000 for her part and was able to strong arm ridiculous demands from producers whilst languishing in a prison cell。 The show was titled 'Bow Down, Winter Santiaga' and became the highest rated TV series globally in that year。 What???- Why would anyone care to give a reality show to the daughter of a sloppy drug dealer, who was caught because he didn't adequately cover his paper trail?- Midnight's wife is a pilot, with nine children, living in a palace with jewelled doors in the UAE - author does not care to expand further - Author projection of their own ideologies is unending, particularly anti-blackness。 Also has obsession with 'silky' hair。 It's weird - The beastiality: WHY?It is zero stars from me。 Awful。 。。。more

I’m not going to lie after the reading all the bad reviews I still wanted to read it for myself。 So I did read and I can honestly say I was intrigued at the beginning and the more I read I didn’t feel as though it was a horrible read but I felt anxious to know how it was going to play out。 Throughout the book I genuinely felt bad for Winter。 It was 19 year old Winter that never grew up and still had some very hard lessons to learn。 I definitely don’t agree with everything was written but I got t I’m not going to lie after the reading all the bad reviews I still wanted to read it for myself。 So I did read and I can honestly say I was intrigued at the beginning and the more I read I didn’t feel as though it was a horrible read but I felt anxious to know how it was going to play out。 Throughout the book I genuinely felt bad for Winter。 It was 19 year old Winter that never grew up and still had some very hard lessons to learn。 I definitely don’t agree with everything was written but I got the message they were trying to portray even though I felt it could have been presented in a better way because most things came off to me as pretty offensive as I’m sure a lot of people felt as well。 Definitely not an normal sequel by far but an very interesting read。 I don’t know if the author will be writing more books but I would still give an honest chance at any new works 。。。more

I love Sister Souljah and to this day Coldest Winter Ever is one of my favorite books。 However, I tried with this book and I couldn’t even finish it。 Not sure where she was going with this one but it wasn’t for me。 It made no sense and the storyline was ridiculous。 I know it’s hard to write a book but this was far from what I expected from her。 I’m glad that I didn’t purchase this and rented from the library。

I tried my best。 I told myself to man up and get through this, but somewhere around Chapter 14, I had to put it down。 The final nail wasn’t the writing style or Winter’s lack of growth。。。 In all seriousness, I felt like this book stole part of the last gleaming shard of innocence left within me。 There is a girl on YouTube who made the narration palatable, but even she couldn’t honey glaze the infamous dog scene。 In addition, I think Sister Souljah has either lost her touch, ran out of time on he I tried my best。 I told myself to man up and get through this, but somewhere around Chapter 14, I had to put it down。 The final nail wasn’t the writing style or Winter’s lack of growth。。。 In all seriousness, I felt like this book stole part of the last gleaming shard of innocence left within me。 There is a girl on YouTube who made the narration palatable, but even she couldn’t honey glaze the infamous dog scene。 In addition, I think Sister Souljah has either lost her touch, ran out of time on her editing deadline, or does not respect her readers’ intelligence。 Maybe all three。 I won’t detail all of the criticisms that I have of this novel because I’m sure most of them have been thoroughly canvassed by other reviewers。 But I will state a few thoughts。I actually appreciated Winter’s character stagnation, to a point。 There really are people in the world who are fatally narrow-minded and don’t aspire to anything higher than landing front and center spot in a music video or winning Miami’s Biggest Booty Competition。 And seeing a brain that has been frozen in time, largely due to a stint in prison, was mildly interesting, though not poetically highlighted。 I didn’t get far enough into the book to witness Winter’s arc, but I remain hopeful that Sis used her juvenile mindest to weave a clear cautionary tale。I also liked Winter’s continued focus on (see: obsession over) Midnight。 It’s obviously unhealthy and I was interested in seeing how it would play out。 On to opportunities for growth。。。One huge mistake on Sis’ part was taking a hard turn into a, for all intents and purposes, fantasy realm。 Once your story becomes a hit, the characters do not only belong to you and therefore, it’s prudent to keep in mind what your readers want to see。 At the very least, it’s reasonable to either continue the narrative within the the boundaries of the original genre or gradually shift into a new setting。Finally, I smiled a bit when we saw little bits and pieces of Winter’s ignorance of the world。 For example, when she doesn’t recognize the flags of other countries。 But those pleasant drip drops of details soon went to hell when the author beat us over the head with the knowledge that Winter doesn’t know anything。 That is an example of the many times Sis does not trust us to read between the lines。If I could, I’d give this book a benefit-of-the-doubt extra half star just because I didn’t finish to the end。 But I couldn’t bring myself to fudge a whole three。 Ironically, considering that this story may as well be a proselytizer’s pamphlet, I would not recommend it for anyone who likes to keep their purity intact。 。。。more

Two takeaways after finishing this book: 1。 The same person did not write both this and The Coldest Winter Ever。 No way。2。 Souljah wrote (Winter said) “I don’t think any book could cause the reader to feel the torture that occurs after death。” I’d imagine this book is pretty close。 If I could rate this less than a one, I would。 Sister Souljah has exhibited absolutely no growth, and in my opinion regressed in her writing abilities。 There was so much potential for a sequel to The Coldest Winter Ev Two takeaways after finishing this book: 1。 The same person did not write both this and The Coldest Winter Ever。 No way。2。 Souljah wrote (Winter said) “I don’t think any book could cause the reader to feel the torture that occurs after death。” I’d imagine this book is pretty close。 If I could rate this less than a one, I would。 Sister Souljah has exhibited absolutely no growth, and in my opinion regressed in her writing abilities。 There was so much potential for a sequel to The Coldest Winter Ever。 But, to call this a sequel is to use that word in the absolute loosest sense。 While I could potentially see that the terrible writing style was an intentional reflection of Winter Santiaga’s first person narration, (“I have felt teenage young my whole life。”) it added zero value to this already terrible story。 This is basically a rendering of life after death, purgatory, heaven and hell, etc。 Winter is wrapping up her 15 year mandatory sentence and slated to star in her own reality show。 Upon exiting the prison doors - white mink, red carpet and Bentley in place - she is shot dead, or so the author would have us think。 Like Souljah, Winter also showed no growth whatsoever during her 15 year bid。 She is still as narcissistic and shallow as she always was。 Still conniving and sneaky。 Still trying to get Midnight (who is happily married with many wives) into bed。 Still worshipping her drug-dealing kingpin father。 Still looking down on everyone who isn’t her or her dad。 Even in purgatory, Winter is most concerned about high-end fashion, good sex, and her appearance。 Now, within a good storyline, I could overlook all of that, because honestly this is the same Winter from TCWE。 But, this storyline is anything but good。 It’s full of religious and anti-choice rhetoric, beastiality, rape, and other graphic sexual situations, riding through hell with the devil and his son, misogyny, aborted children transformed into soldiers sent to purgatory to save the souls of the women who aborted them。 And that is only the beginning。 From the first chapter I was rolling my eyes。 I only finished this because it was our book club book of the month selection。 There was potential for a redeeming ending to the story。 But alas, the author missed the mark on that by pushing her Islamic-heavy agenda, instead of on Winters actual redemption, which could have been the silver lining in this tragedy of a story。 That said, I don’t mind the Islamic content, but at the cost of continually bashing all other religions, the delivery felt flat。 Bottomline, Souljah capitalized on the fans love of The Coldest Winter Ever, with this trash ass book。 It’s unfathomable to me how this got past an editor, a publisher, and beta readers。 Wonders never cease。 。。。more

This book was crazy, and not at all what I expected。 For most of it, I just couldn’t really believe what I was reading。 But then the last couple chapters sort of justified the effort。 I felt invested in Winter from the first book, and was eager to read what happened to her next。

I couldn't listen to others reviews because I rather take a dive into a book myself and come up with my own conclusions。 I will say, many may not have finished the book based on the genre the book is。 The Coldest Winter ever is known as an urban fiction book。 However, Life after death can be viewed as a book that takes a dive into Winter's life after her death basically。 It deals with the underworld, analyzing her life, her still being the same ol' Winter, and seeing if she could redeem herself。 I couldn't listen to others reviews because I rather take a dive into a book myself and come up with my own conclusions。 I will say, many may not have finished the book based on the genre the book is。 The Coldest Winter ever is known as an urban fiction book。 However, Life after death can be viewed as a book that takes a dive into Winter's life after her death basically。 It deals with the underworld, analyzing her life, her still being the same ol' Winter, and seeing if she could redeem herself。 People dove in with their own thoughts of what should happen and as Sister Souljah stated, plenty has written continuations of her book and she wanted something different。 I personally felt this was a really good book with a deeper message that went over a lot of people's head (similar to the coldest winter ever)。 Of course, some things happen that made me clutch my pearls but I understood where the author was going when it comes to speaking of hell。 Overall, this approach was different and thought-provoking to say as well。 I believe the genre of the book and people having their ideas of how the book should've gone is why so many have major issues with it besides their own personal reasons as well。 I would say, go into the book with a different mind frame and understand it's not the same genre。 Dump what you believe should happen and just experience the book。 Be prepared for shockers though! There were moments where I stated Winter was borderline insane。 。。。more

She takes us through Winter’s journey of going to hell/purgatory and her fight to get through it and make it to heaven。A lot of disturbing things happen throughout Winter’s afterlife and none of it was really addressed in detail, but rather brushed over throughout the story。 There are so many things that could be triggering for some people。 Rape, anti-abortion, suicide, incest, the works。 There was also no growth with the main character。 Winter is still the same ignorant, annoying, self-centred, money hungry female she was 15 years ago。 She is supposed to be a grown woman in her 30’s but she’s still acting like the same 17 year old spoilt brat from The Coldest Winter Ever。 Still allowing men to do her dirty but claiming that it makes her loyal and a rider 🙄I had high expectations for this book, which is probably why it hurts so much that it was a complete let down。If you want to read it, by all means do! Am I recommending it? That’s a strong no 🤷🏾‍♀️ 。。。more
