Summary

The hunt for a killer in San Francisco becomes a dizzying game of cat and mouse in a thrilling novel of psychological suspense。

“Lombard is your Moriarty, Frost。 Taking him down will be the most dangerous thing you’ve ever done。”

San Francisco homicide detective Frost Easton hadn’t seen his estranged friend Denny in years。 Not until he dies in Frost’s arms uttering a final inexplicable word: Lombard。 Denny appears to be the latest victim in a string of murders linked by a distinctive clue: the painting of a spiraled snake near the crime scenes。 Is it the work of a serial killer? Or is Denny’s death more twisted and personal?

To find the answer, Frost reaches into a nest of vipers—San Francisco’s shady elite—where the whispered name of Lombard is just one secret。 Now, drawn into a cat-and-mouse game with an enemy who knows his every move, Frost finds there is no one he can trust。 And somewhere down the crooked streets of the city, Frost’s cunning adversary is coiled and ready to strike again。

Well this was a great book to end/not end this series。 There is too much up in the air for it not to continue, I hope。 This was a page-turner for sure and I enjoyed the couple of surprises at the end。 I didn't see the one coming at all。 As for the girlfriend, I hope Frost drops her and fast but alas, I don't think that will happen。 Good and entertaining series and I love Shaq, the little cat。 Well this was a great book to end/not end this series。 There is too much up in the air for it not to continue, I hope。 This was a page-turner for sure and I enjoyed the couple of surprises at the end。 I didn't see the one coming at all。 As for the girlfriend, I hope Frost drops her and fast but alas, I don't think that will happen。 Good and entertaining series and I love Shaq, the little cat。 。。。more

A rousing buildupFreeman is always a five in any of his books。 I tend to like the Stride series。 However, the great ones have no problem firing up any of the novels。 Entertainment, action, murder, criminals, intrigue, and devious plots。 All done masterly, try one and you will be hooked。

Oh so goodExcellent flow to the story。 The story was as twisted as Lombard Street in San Francisco。 Great characters, who have stayed true throughout the series。 Frost is a character who takes a beating and stumbles on。 No super powers just determination to find answers and right wrongs。

I loved this book until the ending, I love series and there are many times the endings are cliff hangers, both good and bad, but this one was bad and upsetting and annoying! That is the end of what I am going to say about the ending because I loved the rest of the book and will not give a bad review, but I am definitely going to write to Brian Freeman。 So, Frost is taken back when old friend (but not a friend for years) Denny bangs on his door near death and utters one word, Lombard。 This begins I loved this book until the ending, I love series and there are many times the endings are cliff hangers, both good and bad, but this one was bad and upsetting and annoying! Another great addition to Frost's story! What a gem。 These are one of my favorite stories。 Every time I pick up a book by Brian, I can not seem to be able to put it down。 Love the characters, setting, narrative, story line。 Spoiler Alert: Frost is simply the best detective ever。 I was rooting for him and Tabby the whole time and that was like: Noooo, what did you do Tabby? :-( Another great addition to Frost's story! If you haven’t dived into The Crooked Street yet, and this is your first of Brian Freeman’s Frost Easton series, hold off until you’ve read the first two。 Although this works as a stand-alone novel, reading the others is well worth your time。 This book captured and held my attention from beginning to end。 Wow, just wow!

Prompt 34 - A Book You'd Rate 5 Stars8/52I love this series。 While this really could be read as a standalone, I'm so glad I read the other two first。 He really is a remarkable writer。 He gives such life to these characters, and unfolds the story in an interesting, twisting, and psychological way。 He is definitely in my top 5 authors now。 Prompt 34 - A Book You'd Rate 5 Stars8/52I love this series。 While this really could be read as a standalone, I'm so glad I read the other two first。 He really is a remarkable writer。 He gives such life to these characters, and unfolds the story in an interesting, twisting, and psychological way。 He is definitely in my top 5 authors now。 。。。more

Well paced and totally engaging - guessing all the way through right up to the incredible surprise on the last page。 Lombard is enigmatic leaving too many open questions about what next? Frost however is the hero and sets the standard。

I really enjoyed this whole small series but I think this one was my favorite of the Frost Easten books。 The ending。。。 swoon! I cannot wait for the next book, maybe that is why I liked this one so much, it is actually much less of a standalone then the others。

Even though this is book 3 in a series, it was my introduction to Frost Easton。 This was no issue at all, 'The Crooked Street' works well as a stand alone novel。 After Easton witnesses the death of an old but estranged friend, he undertakes to get to the bottom of his murder。 The story builds momentum steadily with Freeman skillfully working his characters。 There are the usual twists along the way and the laying of the ground for the next story。 Well done again Mr Freeman, this is a book that wi Even though this is book 3 in a series, it was my introduction to Frost Easton。 This was no issue at all, 'The Crooked Street' works well as a stand alone novel。 After Easton witnesses the death of an old but estranged friend, he undertakes to get to the bottom of his murder。 The story builds momentum steadily with Freeman skillfully working his characters。 There are the usual twists along the way and the laying of the ground for the next story。 Well done again Mr Freeman, this is a book that will not disappoint fans。 。。。more

Frost does it againI've not read any other Brian Freeman books (yet) apart from this series。 I highly recommend the Frost Easton books, and it doesn't matter if you don't read them in order as all things are explained in each book, so they quite easily stand alone。Frost's life is a whirlwind of professional and personal drama, and you just can't help but wish him well in both。 I truly hope there will be a book 4 in this series。。。。。。 Frost does it againI've not read any other Brian Freeman books (yet) apart from this series。 I highly recommend the Frost Easton books, and it doesn't matter if you don't read them in order as all things are explained in each book, so they quite easily stand alone。Frost's life is a whirlwind of professional and personal drama, and you just can't help but wish him well in both。 I truly hope there will be a book 4 in this series。。。。。。 。。。more
