Summary

Nesta Archeron has always been prickly-proud, swift to anger, and slow to forgive。 And ever since being forced into the Cauldron and becoming High Fae against her will, she's struggled to find a place for herself within the strange, deadly world she inhabits。 Worse, she can't seem to move past the horrors of the war with Hybern and all she lost in it。

The one person who ignites her temper more than any other is Cassian, the battle-scarred warrior whose position in Rhysand and Feyre's Night Court keeps him constantly in Nesta's orbit。 But her temper isn't the only thing Cassian ignites。 The fire between them is undeniable, and only burns hotter as they are forced into close quarters with each other。

Meanwhile, the treacherous human queens who returned to the Continent during the last war have forged a dangerous new alliance, threatening the fragile peace that has settled over the realms。 And the key to halting them might very well rely on Cassian and Nesta facing their haunting pasts。

Against the sweeping backdrop of a world seared by war and plagued with uncertainty, Nesta and Cassian battle monsters from within and without as they search for acceptance-and healing-in each other's arms。

Yup。 Thats it for me and SJM。I read it for Nesta cause she is the only character I like in the book。 But the way everyone was patronizing her, I couldn't take it。 And I didn't even get much of Nesta, even though this book is about her。 A lot of the plot was just too 'convenient'。Technically I read till the end, though I skimmed through most of the book。 Its more erotica than fantasy, a lot of 'purring', 'growling' and 'hissing'。 If you know what I mean。Read for the pleasure of it, not for the fa Yup。 Thats it for me and SJM。I read it for Nesta cause she is the only character I like in the book。 But the way everyone was patronizing her, I couldn't take it。 And I didn't even get much of Nesta, even though this book is about her。 A lot of the plot was just too 'convenient'。Technically I read till the end, though I skimmed through most of the book。 Its more erotica than fantasy, a lot of 'purring', 'growling' and 'hissing'。 If you know what I mean。Read for the pleasure of it, not for the fantasy, world building or the plot。 Cause you could pretty much guess where the plot is going from the first few chapters。 。。。more

HECK YES! Elaine, I'm sorry to say has the personality of a cardboard box again, but the BOYS WERE AMAZING AGAIN。 Cassian and Azriel were utter perfection。 I have one issue with the book, though。 Rhys was SO。 TOXIC。 And that maddened me because I loved him。 His overprotectiveness was just not it for me, and I get that his mate was pregnant, but didn't she deserve some sort of freedom too? That aside, the plot kinda confused me, but I didnt care because i read these books purely for the characters。 Cassian's and Nesta's romance was great, but what made this book the marvel that it is the the entire valykrie concept, and the new friend group we had。 Nesta's character development SHONE in this book and I was there for it。 I wanted to like her before but never could, and now she is probably one of my favourite characters in the series!:) - Gwyn, Emerie, Cass, Nesta:( - I needed more Feysand content, and I wish the plot was a tad less complicated 。。。more

This fantasy world makes my heart beat faster。 Beautiful story。。

So different from the other books in the series。 But it is amazing, the writing style is so different but that does not effecht the book at all。

Admittedly this book took me longer to finish than the others in the series, partially due to the shift in focus of characters as I was never a huge Nesta and Cassian fan。 Having finally finished the book, I have mixed feelings about everyone and everything that had happened。 But yes, I liked it。。。?I will give it a 2, but maybe it’s a heavy 2。5Things I did like:-the character building。 Call me crazy but I love a good book that spends a good chunk of time on this, and often find it hard to get at Admittedly this book took me longer to finish than the others in the series, partially due to the shift in focus of characters as I was never a huge Nesta and Cassian fan。 Having finally finished the book, I have mixed feelings about everyone and everything that had happened。 But yes, I liked it。。。?I will give it a 2, but maybe it’s a heavy 2。5Things I did like:-the character building。 Call me crazy but I love a good book that spends a good chunk of time on this, and often find it hard to get attached to a story if I don’t feel like I at least somewhat understand what the characters I am reading are feeling/thinking。 Admittedly, the book did feel a tiny bit heavy handed with this。。。especially since we really didn’t see some of the larger parts of the plot that had been touched on play out。 BUT。 I can’t say that I didn’t enjoy it sooooo。。。-the smut。 I literally laughed out loud at a few particular descriptions throughout the book, if I am honest。。。but ultimately I enjoyed SJM ramping it up this round。 I enjoyed the kind of unabashed freedom that comes with Nesta and her sex drive。 Girl likes to get it on and I am here for it。-Nesta and her love for music。 I found this to be a really humanizing (haha) character for her, as well as an easy way to give us more backstory of why she is the way that she is。 Also I don’t care if it was random, I am here for her dancing with Eris as a plot point because WHY NOT。 -the library and the priestesses。 I could do with an entire novel about the library。 (Despite the bit of a downer that spoiled a tiny bit of its mystery in this book。) Bryaxis and his dark adventures, maybe lol。 -female friendship。 I am HERE for the female relationships in this book。 We have had a lot of the magical bat boy brotherhood bonding, and it felt like a treat to watch these friendships bloom。 I love Gwyn and Emrie, and I hope to see more of them in the next book。-the writing and the subtle hints that we will undoubtably see come back around further on in the series。 As a HUGE fan of the TOG series, I know SJM loves to bring it all the way back and surprise us, and I am excited for the little bits and pieces she dangled for us。 That vision from the harp has to be important, RIGHT? Okay, now what I didn’t like。-the rite。 I just。。。can’t。 I know that Nesta is a badass now, and the trio worked super hard。 But。。。come ooooooon。 Just felt a little bit of an easy move, if that makes sense。 -the inner circle。 wtf guys。 All I can think of is “what happened to the original plot of the movie?” Rhys lying to Feyre? Amren, who? I felt like I got even less of Elian, if that’s even possible。 Lucian is reduced to a grouchy after thought。 I wish that SJM had really gone for a less is more strategy here because I felt like so much time was spent on the character development of others that the inner circles seems off and uncomfortable at best。 Also, her bar tab is what set them off? WUT。-the baby。 I hate it and it’s whole storyline。 And it’s stupid name。 That’s it。- the way that SJM recycles plot and characters。 Without giving too much away, I felt this ending was too reminiscent of my darling Aelin and the tragedy that was SJM stripping her of her scars and powers, leaving her a mere morsel of the great and terrible being that she was。 Which, in my SJM tolerating opinion, feels like it contradicts the entire character arch。 WHYYYY。 -the entire concept that Nesta, bad ass Nesta, is thinking about her own “physique” and just HAPPENS to tweak her shit just enough in that pivotal moment? What kind of baby loving, gender norm driving bs is that。。。 Did Stephanie Meyer help edit this book? Ultimately I feel like this could have been it’s own novella。 Like。。。Nesta, her growth, and the training/ rite replacing a majority of the fluff we got from ACOFAS 。 And then all the other plot points that happened in this book (minus the baby because ICK) that were overshadowed could really be fleshed out like Nesta was。 。。。more

This tells a great story with intriguing characters。 I particularly appreciate the strong women character and the story of surviving trauma。 I could have lived without so many sex scenes。 Kind of felt like filler after a while。

4。5? This may very well be my favorite of the series, but not the one I’d rate most highly。 Because while I felt so completely seen in its pages, in Nesta, that I broke into sobs in my car listening, that catharsis was interrupted too frequently by a certain piece of shit high lord。 Pros: sisterhood, smut, and gentle/badass warriorsCons: toxic male fae bullshit (ahem Rhys) and by extension people being excluded from conversations that were not only pertinent to and about them, but necessary for 4。5? I could do without the sex scenes。 It felt unnecessary and overly graphic, and long。 Otherwise I enjoyed getting to know Nesta in a new way。 Nesta is not my favorite character but it was good to read more about her thoughts and I like her more than I did based on the other books。 This series is one of my all time favorites in general and this book was a great addition。

Disappointed。 Narration on audible was poor & the book felt empty。 Didn’t have the same magic as the first three books in the series。 It actually didn’t have any substance until the last few chapters。 It was cringe worthy smut that was so ridiculous I actually skipped over it。 In fact I’d say 60-70% of the book was smut & Nesta training and brooding。 You could literally skip to chapter 65 of 80 and get the story。 Hoping SJM pulls through with the next books in the series。 I miss the old witty Rh Disappointed。 Narration on audible was poor & the book felt empty。 Didn’t have the same magic as the first three books in the series。 It actually didn’t have any substance until the last few chapters。 It was cringe worthy smut that was so ridiculous I actually skipped over it。 In fact I’d say 60-70% of the book was smut & Nesta training and brooding。 You could literally skip to chapter 65 of 80 and get the story。 Hoping SJM pulls through with the next books in the series。 I miss the old witty Rhys & Feyre, and the fun storyline。 。。。more

Always a huge fan of the series abs ACOSF was no exception。 While I appreciated the elevated smutty levels, what I appreciated even more was the grittier/darker emotions and the look into the emotional side of feminism and overcoming trauma/PTSD。 I am glad that Nesta didn’t come out perfect in the end though, and is still on her journey of healing,self-growth, and forgiveness。I did appreciate that while the story can continue, this book did seem to “come to an end”。 I can’t wait to read the 5th Always a huge fan of the series abs ACOSF was no exception。 While I appreciated the elevated smutty levels, what I appreciated even more was the grittier/darker emotions and the look into the emotional side of feminism and overcoming trauma/PTSD。 I am glad that Nesta didn’t come out perfect in the end though, and is still on her journey of healing,self-growth, and forgiveness。I did appreciate that while the story can continue, this book did seem to “come to an end”。 I can’t wait to read the 5th book and I’m really curious to see who it’ll focus on。 Would love to get more Azriel or Mor。 。。。more

I'm happy that Nesta was the main character of this book。 I enjoyed seeing her story develop, as well as the growth in Cassian。 I'm also happy to have been spared going through the full development of the small storyline with Rhysand and Feyre。 I think it would have been redundant and shallow。 Writing it this way from Nesta's POV added a more interesting angle to it。 I'd like to read more books from Nesta's POV。 I'm happy that Nesta was the main character of this book。 I enjoyed seeing her story develop, as well as the growth in Cassian。 I'm also happy to have been spared going through the full development of the small storyline with Rhysand and Feyre。 I think it would have been redundant and shallow。 Writing it this way from Nesta's POV added a more interesting angle to it。 I'd like to read more books from Nesta's POV。 。。。more

I did it! I managed to finish this one on the 2 month anniversary of when I started reading it haha。 There’s really nothing wrong with this book in general - it’s not bad and is actually edited well (comparatively)。 There just wasn’t enough compelling me to keep reading or want to pick up the book。 I really enjoyed Nesta (and her growth), Cassian, the priestesses, the frequent but not overbearing appearances from past book MCs。。。 But there wasn’t enough action? Wowowowwoowwoww ok。 So。 I originally had it as 4 but I broke I down even more after more consideration and now it’s a 3。5。 3 is like ok, COUKD have been better, tho there were some parts I liked, I would recommend it based on the person and I’d only read certain parts of it。 But i think I’d read it again tho bc I didn’t listen to the last 1/4 of it audiobook so it wasn’t rlly the same for me as physical。 And I thought rhys was horny😃🤚🏻 idk I’ll read it again and see then

Definitely my favorite of the series。 I appreciate it being rebranded as an adult series, as this one was more mature。 It felt more accurate to the characters and it was very enjoyable as an adult reader。 Plus, I loved watching Nesta work through her shit。 It took her a long time, but the payoff was worth it。 Realllllly hope the next one is Elaine’s book。 Would not recommend to young teens。
