Summary

When Elizabeth Bennet meets Fitzwilliam Darcy for the first time at a ball, she writes him off as an arrogant and obnoxious man。 He not only acts like an insufferable snob, but she also overhears him rejecting the very idea of asking her for a dance!

As life pits them against each other again and again, Darcy begins to fall for Elizabeths wit and intelligence and Elizabeth begins to question her feelings about Darcy。 When Darcy saves her youngest sister, Lydia, from a scandal, Elizabeth starts to wonder if her pride has prejudiced her opinion of Darcy。

Through this tale about two warring hearts, Austen weaves a witty satire about life in eighteenth century England。 And though it was published more than two centuries ago, Pride and Prejudice continues to enthrall readers to this very day。

I really enjoyed the story and the chemistry between the characters, the way Mr。darsi was portrayed was spot on and went with the flow,,,I can't give 5 starts cause the translation was completely a mess in my language I really enjoyed the story and the chemistry between the characters, the way Mr。darsi was portrayed was spot on and went with the flow,,,I can't give 5 starts cause the translation was completely a mess in my language 。。。more

So initially I really didn’t enjoy this book I couldn’t get into it。 It frustrated me。 However, as I kept reading I myself was enjoying the story more and more。 I want to read this again and really focus on it, to see if the same vexation returns in the first part。 Other than that I loved Lizzy’s wit and no bull***t mentality!

Por diversos momentos me peguei rindo alto e outros tantos soltando o famoso "hehe"。 Já era apaixonado pelo filme e agora pelo livro。 Não a nada que eu possa dizer sobre Jane Austen ou Orgulho e Preconceito que alguém já não tenha dito。 Que livro gostoso de ler。 E muito engraçado! took me a while to finish just like every classical book that i’ve read because the pace isn’t as fast as i’m used to with contemporary fiction。 the movie plot is different and more entertaining, i was sad to find out that the conversation darcy and lizzy have at the end of the movie is not in the book ;( it was a good book

I thought it was about time I read this classic, seeing as I've lived in Hertfordshire for a few years now and WOW I LOVE THIS BOOK! I love everything about it。 I can't wait to read more of Austen's books。 It took me a few chapters to get used to the writing style but I was quickly hooked on the story, setting, and strong characters。 I have a newfound love of my regular walking route between Hertford and Hertingfordbury, and other local walks in the countryside。 This book has inspired me to expl I thought it was about time I read this classic, seeing as I've lived in Hertfordshire for a few years now and WOW I LOVE THIS BOOK! Re-reading this book was the sensory equivalent of sinking into a plush armchair by a crackling fire, with a heavily buttered, well-toasted crumpet。 Austen's wit and heart make me want to go back in time and apply to be her best friend。 Re-reading this book was the sensory equivalent of sinking into a plush armchair by a crackling fire, with a heavily buttered, well-toasted crumpet。 Austen's wit and heart make me want to go back in time and apply to be her best friend。 。。。more

I hate to admit that she was right in saying "the passions are perfectly unknown" to jane austen。 where was the,,,, where was any of it?? chemistry, sparks, drama, love, anything?I was enjoying the start quite a bit, and I rlly liked some of the setup for the romance, but Lizzi and Darcy's sudden change in behaviour felt too fast and too unfounded to follow through with the romantic premise satisfyingly。 Also the book's just a little tedious。 I wasn't doing too as a proud charlotte brontë hater, I hate to admit that she was right in saying "the passions are perfectly unknown" to jane austen。 where was the,,,, where was any of it?? chemistry, sparks, drama, love, anything?I was enjoying the start quite a bit, and I rlly liked some of the setup for the romance, but Lizzi and Darcy's sudden change in behaviour felt too fast and too unfounded to follow through with the romantic premise satisfyingly。 Also the book's just a little tedious。 I wasn't doing too hot when I was reading so I can't fully blame the book for not engaging me much but that doesn't change the fact that what I wanted just wasn't there。 Things I liked: the setup, everything abt Mr Bennet, and when Lizzi called Mr。 Collins a silly little man。 Another quote from Brontë that really hits the nail on the head lol (my A-Level English teacher would be proud): "I had not seen Pride and Prejudice, till I read that sentence of yours, and then I got the book。 And what did I find? An accurate daguerreotyped portrait of a common-place face; a carefully fenced, highly cultivated garden, with neat borders and delicate flowers; but no glance of a bright, vivid physiognomy, no open country, no fresh air, no blue hill, no bonny beck。 I should hardly like to live with her ladies and gentlemen, in their elegant but confined houses。" 。。。more

I have to admit that I have never read a Jane Austen novel and had no interest in reading one until I watched the movie ‘Pride and Prejudice and Zombies。’ That led to watching the ‘Pride and Prejudice’ film (the shorter 2005 one), and since I thoroughly enjoyed both of them, I figured it was time to finally read the book。The story is impressively thorough and elicits emotions ranging from joy to sadness to worry, despite already knowing how the book was going to end。
