Summary

Will Robie and Jessica Reel are two of the most lethal people alive。 They're the ones the government calls in when the utmost secrecy is required to take out those who plot violence and mass destruction against the United States。 And through every mission, one man has always had their backs: their handler, code-named Blue Man。

But now, Blue Man is missing。

Last seen in rural Colorado, Blue Man had taken a rare vacation to go fly fishing in his hometown when he disappeared off the grid。 With no communications since, the team can't help but fear the worst。

Sent to investigate, Robie and Reel arrive in the small town of Grand to discover that it has its own share of problems。 A stagnant local economy and a woefully understaffed police force have made this small community a magnet for crime, drugs, and a growing number of militant fringe groups。

But lying in wait in Grand is an even more insidious and sweeping threat, one that may shake the very foundations of America。 And when Robie and Reel find themselves up against an adversary with superior firepower and a home-court advantage, they'll be lucky if they make it out alive, with or without Blue Man。。。

In general another great book, but the fact that Reel and Robie dropped the ball on JC Parry and Luke’s phone (they even mention it is traceable, doh!), make it feel like Baldacci took a few shortcuts。

It's no game when Will Robie and Jessica Reel are sent on a mission to find out what happened to the missing Blue Man。 But it may spell the end for all of them。 Out of their typical element of being assigned to make a specific takedown, Will and Jessica are instead having to play detective in a small Western town out in the boonies。 While the town is small, it and the surrounding area are filled with colorful characters, fringe groups, and, of course, bad guys。 Blue Man's past may provide clues It's no game when Will Robie and Jessica Reel are sent on a mission to find out what happened to the missing Blue Man。 But it may spell the end for all of them。 Out of their typical element of being assigned to make a specific takedown, Will and Jessica are instead having to play detective in a small Western town out in the boonies。 While the town is small, it and the surrounding area are filled with colorful characters, fringe groups, and, of course, bad guys。 Blue Man's past may provide clues as to what happened to him, but it may also lead to the end of his story。 Baldacci's book keeps the reader on the edge with tons of action (guns! explosions! missile silos!) as well as interaction (romantic, social, and physical)。 The plot has plenty of twists which keep the reader mentally engaged and intrigued。 And when the end of the book comes, the reader will be sorry the adventure is over。 。。。more

Great book

Loved it as I have all Baldacci books! The characters have grown in experience and skill level over the books and I appreciate that。 I also appreciate how the author makes you want Will and Jessica to kill the scum。 Great, quick read!

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 As a romance lover, this book made me very happy, but it didn’t have the same edge as the other books in the series。 It’s good; just don’t expect to get the same thrill。

Best one of the series! Loved it!

Atco1Certainly hope this in not the last of the Will Robie & Jessica Reel novels。 Great read and actions I hope is actually being done by an agency charged to protect the Republic

Lots of bodies, lots of action, typical "superhero" abilities for Robie and Reel, a nice twist for the ending。 Lots of bodies, lots of action, typical "superhero" abilities for Robie and Reel, a nice twist for the ending。 。。。more

This was a book given to me and so was the fifth in a series but it works really well as a stand-alone。 It follows Will Robin an agent who is sent in when things get bad。 When his manager, the Blue Man, goes missing whilst visiting his rural hometown, Will and fellow agent and love interest Reel are sent in to investigate。 Queue lots of action packed shoot outs, undercover investigation and misdirection as the pair race against time to find their boss。 I did not expect to like this book at all b This was a book given to me and so was the fifth in a series but it works really well as a stand-alone。 It follows Will Robin an agent who is sent in when things get bad。 When his manager, the Blue Man, goes missing whilst visiting his rural hometown, Will and fellow agent and love interest Reel are sent in to investigate。 Queue lots of action packed shoot outs, undercover investigation and misdirection as the pair race against time to find their boss。 I did not expect to like this book at all but I really did。 It was fast paced and didn’t take itself too seriously。 There were loads of different groups under suspicion and it meant a lot of sleuthing whilst reading to try to get to the answer first。 The only thing that unstuck me is that it was so heavy on the gore and weaponry。 They referred to gun names and for someone with my zero knowledge I couldn’t tell if it was a big or little gun until the context helped me out!For people who love the action genre, this book is a great read。 。。。more

Love。 death and family。

Half way through I thought it was a good story。 But it seemed to drag and the plot was unbelievable。 Robie and Reel over their heads as an alone twosome against some wild characters set against some reclaimed missile silos in Montana searching for Blue Man。 The number of deaths were unbelievable。 I was glad to reach the end。 Baldacci just churns out books。 Hemingway and Steinbeck didn’t churn out novels the way the current crop of writers do。 Quality is always better than quantity。

Another good read!

Like being stuck in a lift。。。。。。。5th book of this series。General trend of ‘readability’ drops as the books pile up。1st was sparky, quick and clever。Down to this, aimless plot, boring dialogue, honestly like watching a 5hr film of a couple of people stuck in a lift who don’t quite get on。That’s about it。I strongly recommend the first book。 The rest however are a cure for insomnia or otherwise the onset of a migraine。Approach with caution, not recommended。

David Baldacci is one of my most favorite authors。 love his books。

Im such a baldacci fan。 This one fell short just a smidge。 It was rather long and I started getting antsy。 Come on—let’s get it done。

Little long in the tooth。。。。plowed through some sections that were verbose

It was not what I expected。 Stopped after reading about 1/3 of the book。

I will always love Will Robie。 The characters all took a major detour from their usual way of being which was a bit disconcerting, but I guess it's called character development。 I guess it is hard to create a happy ending for an assassin。 I was glad I read this series。 I will always love Will Robie。 The characters all took a major detour from their usual way of being which was a bit disconcerting, but I guess it's called character development。 I guess it is hard to create a happy ending for an assassin。 I was glad I read this series。 。。。more

David Baldacci once again delivers with the return of superspies Will Robie and Jessica Reel in the fifth entry in the beloved series!! As much as I enjoyed it, my only reason for not giving it a 5-star rating, is the book started out really slow, and seemed to start as a spy thriller, which is what we'd all expect who've read all the other books in the Robie series, then it turns into more of a mystery thriller, which there's nothing wrong with that。 Months after the events in where we lef David Baldacci once again delivers with the return of superspies Will Robie and Jessica Reel in the fifth entry in the beloved series!! Just when I keep thinking it couldn't get any better, Baldacci does it again with his power punched thrillers。 What a fantastic thriller。 And to bring in elements from real life like the doomsday bunker made it all the more interesting。 The duo of Will and Jess just gets better with each new thriller adding to their journey。 I still remember not warming up to Jess's character only to be proved wrong pleasantly with each new story。 Just when I keep thinking it couldn't get any better, Baldacci does it again with his power punched thrillers。 What a fantastic thriller。 And to bring in elements from real life like the doomsday bunker made it all the more interesting。 The duo of Will and Jess just gets better with each new thriller adding to their journey。 I still remember not warming up to Jess's character only to be proved wrong pleasantly with each new story。 。。。more
