Summary

Enter the Wastelands: a Battleworld realm where heroes have been wiped out and villains rule with an iron fist。 In the midst of this dystopian chaos, one man may make a difference。 A reluctant warrior who was once the greatest mutant of all。 A man known as Old Man Logan。 Never before has the former Wolverine been needed as much as he is now, but even the best there was at what he did may be outmatched by the evil lurking in nearby realms! Now, Logan must battle the horrors of mutantkind unleashed, the sins of genocidal machines and the rampaging hordes of the undead。 And as Logan traverses Battleworld and learns its secrets, he must face the patchwork planet’s thundering police force! He may be old, but Logan’s job is far from finished。

Millar's original comic had some really dumb ideas, but it's Shakespeare compared to this tie-in multiverse nonsense with godawful art。 Millar's original comic had some really dumb ideas, but it's Shakespeare compared to this tie-in multiverse nonsense with godawful art。 。。。more

It was fine for what it was。 The affected dialogue got on my nerves a little, as did the rapid-fire introduction of different worlds w/o appropriate exposition。 I got that that was the point, but it just got in the way of understanding and the world。 The art didn't do it for me either, but I can see a lot of merit in it。 It was fine for what it was。 The affected dialogue got on my nerves a little, as did the rapid-fire introduction of different worlds w/o appropriate exposition。 I got that that was the point, but it just got in the way of understanding and the world。 The art didn't do it for me either, but I can see a lot of merit in it。 。。。more

This starts off strong。 Bendis writes a good world-weary Old Man Logan, and Andrea Sorento's realistic art makes this feel like Bendis' classic Jinx and Goldfish books。 I was really set to like this after the first issue。But then Logan goes on a journey between the realms of Battleworld through a series of ridiculous contrivances and ultimately accomplishes nothing。 This starts off strong。 Bendis writes a good world-weary Old Man Logan, and Andrea Sorento's realistic art makes this feel like Bendis' classic Jinx and Goldfish books。 I was really set to like this after the first issue。But then Logan goes on a journey between the realms of Battleworld through a series of ridiculous contrivances and ultimately accomplishes nothing。 。。。more

This book has an extra star for the art。 Andrea Sorrentino outclasses Bendis here。 THe story starts well but ends up reading like a Wikipedia entry of a better story as Old Man Logan is flung from Battleworld to Battleworld (sometimes literally) to encounter several different versions of familiar characters。The first issue was a five star book, and I was really excited to see where it went, but the plot ended up playing second fiddle to How Many Alternate Universe Characters Can I Throw In A Fiv This book has an extra star for the art。 Andrea Sorrentino outclasses Bendis here。 THe story starts well but ends up reading like a Wikipedia entry of a better story as Old Man Logan is flung from Battleworld to Battleworld (sometimes literally) to encounter several different versions of familiar characters。The first issue was a five star book, and I was really excited to see where it went, but the plot ended up playing second fiddle to How Many Alternate Universe Characters Can I Throw In A Five Issue Story。This is still one of the top tier Secret Wars books that I've read so far, but that's more a condemnation of other books than a praising of this one。If you loved Mark Millar's original Wolverine: Old Man Logan, you'll at least enjoy the first part of this book。 I also recommend it for people who were reading the post-Secret Wars Wolverine: Old Man Logan, Vol。 1: Berzerker, as I'm reasonably certain that this is the same version of the character that shows up in the post-Secret Wars Marvel Universe。 。。。more

I loved this。 Best Secret Wars tie in by far。If you liked Mark Millar’s original run of Old Man Logan, this provides some much needed resolution。 If you’ll remember, that story was bleak and had a very unhappy ending。 The last we saw of Logan was a man searching for purpose after losing everything。 It was very much an origin story (which is strange, considering it’s。。。 well。。。 Old Man Logan)This is what we needed。 New sense of purpose, new quest, same old Logan。 It’s fun watching him explore bat I loved this。 Best Secret Wars tie in by far。If you liked Mark Millar’s original run of Old Man Logan, this provides some much needed resolution。 If you’ll remember, that story was bleak and had a very unhappy ending。 The last we saw of Logan was a man searching for purpose after losing everything。 It was very much an origin story (which is strange, considering it’s。。。 well。。。 Old Man Logan)This is what we needed。 New sense of purpose, new quest, same old Logan。 It’s fun watching him explore battleworld and make sense of Doom’s universe。 It ends with the exciting promise of more to come。 There were some fantastic meetings and interactions, and it was cool to see Logan go full Logan a few times。 It definitely fits well with the original while still embracing the current Marvel landscape。Really cool, really weird art and layouts。 You definitely feel like you’re seeing events through a fractured lens, and it fits。I give this a solid recommend。 。。。more

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 Reading Marvel Comics in whatever order I feel like is confusing。 I got that X-23 / Laura Kinney was the All New Wolverine (written by Tom Taylor) because Logan died and I knew X-23 from a while back。 So I read the Death of Wolverine and yep, he died (but he got better since then)。 Then, there is an old Logan appearing in All New Wolverine that reminded me of Old Man Logan (from the Mark Millar mini) in the 616 universe。。。 It’s like when one Wolverine dies, many Wolverines pops up。 This volume i Reading Marvel Comics in whatever order I feel like is confusing。 I got that X-23 / Laura Kinney was the All New Wolverine (written by Tom Taylor) because Logan died and I knew X-23 from a while back。 So I read the Death of Wolverine and yep, he died (but he got better since then)。 Then, there is an old Logan appearing in All New Wolverine that reminded me of Old Man Logan (from the Mark Millar mini) in the 616 universe。。。 It’s like when one Wolverine dies, many Wolverines pops up。 This volume is where his transfer from the wastelands to the 616 universe happens, during the Battleworlds event (the line wide « crisis » like reboot Marvel had said they would never ever do, never)。 I’m still somewhat confused, but the characterization and pacing are good。 The art and atmosphere excellent。 。。。more

3。5 stars。 So now I see how Old Man Logan got to the 616, sort of。 The beginning of this story was the best。 Continuing on after the original old man Logan by Millar, we see Logan has now gotten back to being a hero and is brutally slicing his way thru bad guys。 He ends up going over the wall into battle world looking for something。 I was one of the few people who really enjoyed Secret Wars by Hickman。 So it was nice to be able to re-visit this world again。 The part with the zombies where he got 3。5 stars。 So now I see how Old Man Logan got to the 616, sort of。 The beginning of this story was the best。 Continuing on after the original old man Logan by Millar, we see Logan has now gotten back to being a hero and is brutally slicing his way thru bad guys。 He ends up going over the wall into battle world looking for something。 I was one of the few people who really enjoyed Secret Wars by Hickman。 So it was nice to be able to re-visit this world again。 The part with the zombies where he got to team up with a certain character was awesome。 But yeah, he basically bounces around the different zones of battle world wondering what the hell is going on before he ends up in the 616。 Now I’m hyped to read the ongoing portion by Lemire。 。。。more

A story that's much better at the beginning。 The rest of the book has Old Man Logan visiting various alternate realities and having the same reaction each time。 The art, thankfully, is gorgeous and makes each chapter worth reading alone。But, all in all, this is mainly to bring this version of Logan into the Marvel Universe proper and not much else。 A story that's much better at the beginning。 The rest of the book has Old Man Logan visiting various alternate realities and having the same reaction each time。 The art, thankfully, is gorgeous and makes each chapter worth reading alone。But, all in all, this is mainly to bring this version of Logan into the Marvel Universe proper and not much else。 。。。more

Poor Logan, he gets completed abused in this。 This starts shortly after the events of the original Old Man Logan, Wolverine has decided he’s tried of villains running amok and has decided to stand up to make a difference。 His main problem is that he’s now in battleworld where things are a little more complicated。 If that wasn’t enough he’s up against people the regular Logan couldn’t handle by himself, he still goes for it though。 The art is phenomenal, if you like it, I’d check out Jeff Lemire’ Poor Logan, he gets completed abused in this。 This starts shortly after the events of the original Old Man Logan, Wolverine has decided he’s tried of villains running amok and has decided to stand up to make a difference。 His main problem is that he’s now in battleworld where things are a little more complicated。 If that wasn’t enough he’s up against people the regular Logan couldn’t handle by himself, he still goes for it though。 The art is phenomenal, if you like it, I’d check out Jeff Lemire’s Green Arrow! This was very episodically, which works in its favour as you get to see a lot more of battleworld。 My only gripe with this was a little continuity error, as Cyclops was in a panel in his red x suit where he should be in the phoenix suit as that’s what he was wearing in Secret Wars。 。。。more

Entertaining but confusing as I don’t follow the MCU。 Otherwise, it was a nice introduction to the Old Man Logan series, even if the reason Logan changed time and universes wasn’t interesting。 The art was good, with a nice job done with the colors。

I love this series so much。 This alternate reality of Marvel gone bad with zombies, familiar faces, and mysteries。 This volume does not have any real answers yet。Logan is going through some stuff: is it just some form of old age or legit crazy town? Or perhaps minds manipulation。

I despise crossover events in comics。 I overall admire Brian Michael Bendis and his writing。 He's great at capturing the essence of characters and I feel some of his earlier work is just amazing。 This is an attempt to mash Old Man Logan into the revised/combined Marvel Universe of the normal comics and the Ultimate Marvel line。 It's a bit of a cluster-fuck。 Not horrible, but not good。 I despise crossover events in comics。 I overall admire Brian Michael Bendis and his writing。 He's great at capturing the essence of characters and I feel some of his earlier work is just amazing。 This is an attempt to mash Old Man Logan into the revised/combined Marvel Universe of the normal comics and the Ultimate Marvel line。 It's a bit of a cluster-fuck。 Not horrible, but not good。 。。。more

3。5 starsHaven't read Secret Wars, but I have an idea of what it was about。 This one is a tie-in to the event, and has the Logan from Mark Millar and Steve McNiven's heart-wrenching epic flung (literally) from one world to another meeting different versions of X-Men and other superheroes。 Being a tie-in, it does not have a clear standalone plot。 But I loved the art by Andrea Sorrentino。 A particular moment in the end when he meets his son from another dimension really got to me。 3。5 starsHaven't read Secret Wars, but I have an idea of what it was about。 This one is a tie-in to the event, and has the Logan from Mark Millar and Steve McNiven's heart-wrenching epic flung (literally) from one world to another meeting different versions of X-Men and other superheroes。 Being a tie-in, it does not have a clear standalone plot。 But I loved the art by Andrea Sorrentino。 A particular moment in the end when he meets his son from another dimension really got to me。 。。。more

Continuing the great x-read of 2017/18。。。3。5 stars。 Potentially the best of these Warzones books。Because it isn't like the other warzone books。 The others are content to stay in their lanes and just be their little alternate universe。 Logan figures it out right away and traipses across a few realities trying to figure it out。In that way, it ties into the main story as well - for better and for worse。 But it is what it is。 It makes for a well-written and entertaining story。 Continuing the great x-read of 2017/18。。。3。5 stars。 Potentially the best of these Warzones books。Because it isn't like the other warzone books。 The others are content to stay in their lanes and just be their little alternate universe。 Logan figures it out right away and traipses across a few realities trying to figure it out。In that way, it ties into the main story as well - for better and for worse。 But it is what it is。 It makes for a well-written and entertaining story。 。。。more

Brian Michael Bendis is a true superstar in the industry。 Reading his work makes me appreciate the medium more and more each time。 Here he takes a one-time idea from the recent past and adds nuance and timeliness to make a fantastic tale。 Andrea Sorrentino's art is breathtakingly beautiful。 I wish this team were in place for the next adventure but I'll take what I can get。 The only flaw to me was the read was incredibly quick。 Overall, a very good book。 Brian Michael Bendis is a true superstar in the industry。 Reading his work makes me appreciate the medium more and more each time。 Here he takes a one-time idea from the recent past and adds nuance and timeliness to make a fantastic tale。 Andrea Sorrentino's art is breathtakingly beautiful。 I wish this team were in place for the next adventure but I'll take what I can get。 The only flaw to me was the read was incredibly quick。 Overall, a very good book。 。。。more
