Summary

Can you find real love when you've always got your head in the clouds?

Maybell Parish has always been a dreamer and a hopeless romantic。 But living in her own world has long been preferable to dealing with the disappointments of real life。 So when Maybell inherits a charming house in the Smokies from her Great-Aunt Violet, she seizes the opportunity to make a fresh start。

Yet when she arrives, it seems her troubles have only just begun。 Not only is the house falling apart around her, but she isn't the only inheritor: she has to share everything with Wesley Koehler, the groundskeeper who's as grouchy as he is gorgeous—and it turns out he has very different vision for the property's future。

Convincing the taciturn Wesley to stop avoiding her and compromise is a task more formidable than the other dying wishes Great-Aunt Violet left behind。 But when Maybell uncovers something unexpectedly sweet beneath Wesley's scowls, and as the two slowly begin to let their guard down, they might learn that sometimes the smallest steps outside one's comfort zone can lead to the greatest rewards。

3。75-4 stars! it was such a cute read。 i loved that it was very different from regular books! the beginning however, was very difficult for me to get into。 i kept rereading the beginning and was lost but once i understood Maybell’s head, i got more into the book。 i loved both Maybell and Wesley so much。 both their personality was complementarity to each other and they were so incredibly cute。 Wesley was so different from other Heroes i’ve read but i loved him so much。 he was so pure and just so 3。75-4 stars! it was such a cute read。 i loved that it was very different from regular books! the beginning however, was very difficult for me to get into。 i kept rereading the beginning and was lost but once i understood Maybell’s head, i got more into the book。 i loved both Maybell and Wesley so much。 both their personality was complementarity to each other and they were so incredibly cute。 Wesley was so different from other Heroes i’ve read but i loved him so much。 he was so pure and just so adorable。 。。。more

Okay, where to start?I've recently read two books by authors whose first books really disappointed me。 The first one was "Second first impressions", and this was the other one, and I must say, this was way better。 It was too long ago to really remember, but I really didn't like "You deserve each other", so this one was an upgrade for sure。。。 but it still wasn't perfect。The characters were good, I liked the chemistry, and the plot was interesting enough, so I can only guess the problem I had was Okay, where to start?I've recently read two books by authors whose first books really disappointed me。 The first one was "Second first impressions", and this was the other one, and I must say, this was way better。 It was too long ago to really remember, but I really didn't like "You deserve each other", so this one was an upgrade for sure。。。 but it still wasn't perfect。The characters were good, I liked the chemistry, and the plot was interesting enough, so I can only guess the problem I had was the writing。 I just don't seem to connect with Sarah Hodges style and that's a pity。 To me this book felt like a lot of good ideas with a just fine execution。 Here are some things that explain what I mean:- The protagonist loses someone that was very important to her in her childhood, but doesn't seem to know how to mourn her or how to feel。。。 and she just moves one and never thinks about it again。- They have to declutter a mansion with years of history from a women both of the protagonists loved and whose life they where a part of in different stages of it。。。 and they never pause to try to understand her life and actions, or the history and memories the house has。 They basically forget whose house they are living in and focus on the material part of it。- One character has serious social anxiety problems, probably caused by childhood trauma, that keep him from living a "normal" life。。。 but they never talk about where does it come from or how to help him have a better life, they just ignore it and work around it。- The protagonist lived a very tough childhood, a teen mom without an stable home and money, and doesn't have a good relationship with her。。。 but she never talks about it, or the way those experiences might have changed her, and doesn't try to be closer to her mother or work their problems until the very end with a。。。 text。 Idk, there are like a hundred more examples, but I think I'm giving the impression that I hated this book, which isn't true。 It was a cute as heck read, and the chemistry between the protagonists was something else。 I loved that for once the male lead was the one that was shy and inexperienced, and I just think he was lovely。All that said, although this didn't hit the right mark for me, I think the author has a promising career going forward, and I'll keep an eye on future books。 。。。more

Okay Sarah Hogle is officially on my favorite author list。 I will say that both her books build slowly but it’s so worth it。 I loved this so much。 Cannot stop smiling。

Such a cute storyline! Maybell Parrish was stuck in a job she disliked, surrounded by coworkers that didn’t see her value。 That was until she inherited the home of her Great-Aunt Violet; however upon arriving at the grounds of her new inheritance she meets Wesley, the gruff groundskeeper and co-inheritor。 Yikes! What starts out as an awkward acquaintance, turns into a slow burn romance as she learns more about what makes Wesley tick。 I greatly appreciated the authors writing, humor, and most imp Such a cute storyline! 4。25I went into this book completely blind, which I feel is the right way to go about it。 As I've seen others stating, this book is just so sweet 。 Like, get a sugar high kinda sweet。 The beautiful backdrop and timeline of this house and land going from disarray into a magical home was a perfect setting。 The scenery felt like a character unto itself。 And how could I not mention Welsey? This is one of those books you have to hug when you finish。 Sarah Hogle packed so much joy, kindness, and sweetness into this little book, and I loved, loved, loved it。

This book slowly grew on me like Maybell and Wesley did each other。 I was worried I wouldn't like this book as characters like Wesley are usually written so extremely gruff and hateful towards other that I just can't stand it, but thankfully Hogle managed to avoid doing that。 Did I love it as much as You Deserve Each Other? No。 But I definitely appreciate the differences between the two。 Growing up/living only two hours away from the setting of this book also made me appreciate it even more。 This book slowly grew on me like Maybell and Wesley did each other。 I was worried I wouldn't like this book as characters like Wesley are usually written so extremely gruff and hateful towards other that I just can't stand it, but thankfully Hogle managed to avoid doing that。 Did I love it as much as You Deserve Each Other? Sarah Hogle does it again! I cried, I laughed, I swooned and I awed。 This was such an amazing read full of funny and cute moments。Both Maybell and Wesley were super relatable and their arc was satisfying。 Their dynamic was my favourite thing about the story。 I loved that their personalities complement each other in such a subtle way。 They were not exactly polar opposites but they encouraged one another to come out of their comfort zone by being extremely supportive of each other。I was happy when Sarah Hogle does it again! Almost a DNF early on due to the writing style, I was confused on what was her daydreaming and what was actual life。 Glad I stuck it out as this was a cute romance。

I actually didn't like either of these characters。 I don't think it's okay to act like a jerk to people you don't know as a go-to defensive reaction。 Maybe they have trouble with anxiety too, and you've just made it worse for them。 If you know you have an issue, practice saying, "sorry, I'm not good with people。" Because we're all quirky and will understand。 And if someone is snide about it, THEN you can be a jerk to them!I could have liked Maybelle, but she is so far into fantasy land that she I actually didn't like either of these characters。 I don't think it's okay to act like a jerk to people you don't know as a go-to defensive reaction。 Maybe they have trouble with anxiety too, and you've just made it worse for them。 If you know you have an issue, practice saying, "sorry, I'm not good with people。" Because we're all quirky and will understand。 And if someone is snide about it, THEN you can be a jerk to them!I could have liked Maybelle, but she is so far into fantasy land that she actually blacks out for hours。 That's not healthy。 As written, she actually seems a bit bipolar, with the frantic planning followed by a crash, but that diagnosis is not hinted at in the book。 If she were my friend, I'd be worried about her。I love Helen Hoang's sensitive romances about people with Asperger's, but this book was not like those。 It left me feeling like they could both benefit from some counseling, perhaps together so they could provide mutual support。 The ending was sweet, but I'd like to see how they could help each other cope better in the wider scope of their lives, not just with each other。 。。。more

3。5 stars but I rounded up。 While I enjoyed Twice Shy, it didn't live up to the expectations that You Deserve Each Other (which was one of my favorite books last year) gave me。 Twice Shy was still an enjoyable romance and I'm glad I preordered it! I think the book suffered from trying to have too many pieces/aspects to the story, which made it more difficult to explore each one fully。 Like was the catfishing portion necessary? or the Loch Ness? I think I would've preferred if we focused more on 3。5 stars but I rounded up。 While I enjoyed Twice Shy, it didn't live up to the expectations that You Deserve Each Other (which was one of my favorite books last year) gave me。 Twice Shy was still an enjoyable romance and I'm glad I preordered it! This kept showing deeper sides to itself in such a lovely way。 It was funny and entertaining and heartwarming。 Not your typical romance hero and it was delightful。 Sarah Hogle is 2 for 2 so far and has a place on my auto buy list。

Grumpy guy and sweetheart of a girl both inherit half of a rundown home that they both have grand plans for that the other thinks is a stupid idea。I am loving the grumpy man character trope lately。 I fell in love with Wesley’s character and Maybell was just a sweetheart that filled your heart with warmth and sunshine。 I loved the unraveling of the characters and seeing them open up as the story progressed。 It took me a bit to get into the story initially, but once I did I couldn’t stop reading。 Wesley and Maybell were the absolute cutest。I recommend this book if you’re an enemies to lovers trope fan, like a slow burn, and want to meet some pretty amazing characters。TW: Catfishing, Death of a Family Member, Anxiety/Social Anxiety。*I received a gifted copy of this book from the publisher for my honest review。 。。。more

Meu coração ficou tão quentinho depois dessa história, o único motivo de não ser 5 estrelas pra mim é porque a protagonista ficou meio chata no final aí eu já não aguentava mais。 Vim correndo ler esse livro depois de you deserve each other da Sarah, que eu amei também, mas o Wesley foi tudo pra mim o que fez eu ter gostado um pouco mais desse livro。 Mal posso esperar pra Sarah lançar mais um romance maravilhoso!"I am seen。 I am hear。 Understood。 Somebody knows that I am here, an it matters to th Meu coração ficou tão quentinho depois dessa história, o único motivo de não ser 5 estrelas pra mim é porque a protagonista ficou meio chata no final aí eu já não aguentava mais。 Vim correndo ler esse livro depois de you deserve each other da Sarah, que eu amei também, mas o Wesley foi tudo pra mim o que fez eu ter gostado um pouco mais desse livro。 Mal posso esperar pra Sarah lançar mais um romance maravilhoso!"I am seen。 I am hear。 Understood。 Somebody knows that I am here, an it matters to them" 。。。more

God, I love this book。 I love Sarah Hogle's humor。 This male lead is so so so sweet。 You don't often see a book with a more confident heroine than male romantic lead。 I also really appreciated that he wasn't just stoic and quiet for no reason。 There is real substance to both of these characters。 I don't want to give too much away because I want you to read the banter and hilarity for yourself, but I found this book utterly charming。 God, I love this book。 I love Sarah Hogle's humor。 This male lead is so so so sweet。 You don't often see a book with a more confident heroine than male romantic lead。 I also really appreciated that he wasn't just stoic and quiet for no reason。 There is real substance to both of these characters。 I don't want to give too much away because I want you to read the banter and hilarity for yourself, but I found this book utterly charming。 。。。more
