Bought this for my bestfriend’s kid for his birthday and I hope to one day read this book to my future class and kids as well! This is such a great story to start discussing and explaining what it means to be transgendered to children。

A must read。

I thought this was a good story depicting that although you may be labeled as something, you can break out of that and become your own person。

A not very disguised message book。 Because sometimes the label doesn't match the crayon。 or the person。 Perhaps not as clever as it thinks it is。 But I'm a sucker for crayons and crayon stories。 3。5 of 5。 A not very disguised message book。 Because sometimes the label doesn't match the crayon。 or the person。 Perhaps not as clever as it thinks it is。 But I'm a sucker for crayons and crayon stories。 3。5 of 5。 。。。more

A good book for kids to learn colors。 Not much more to it than that。

For your future world leadersThis is the best。 I a, reading it as often as possible to my children because it is such an amazing message

A beautiful metaphor for gender as a fluid concept rather than binary。 I love when identity politics can be explained in a way that is accessible to children of all ages; though I know plenty of adults that would also benefit from reading this book。

Reflections and lessons learned:Gah! Mind bending perception and description of colours strikes again!! My own trauma with this soothed by the clever little twist around short story

This book is colorful (literally) and also gives a deeper meaning, which makes the book a good read for children。 If you are planning on discussing the topic of transgender to your child or student, this book would be the perfect fit。 I think this book does not give too much detail about the meaning, which gives you the reader a guidance as to where the child/students mind will take them after reading this。 Overall, a cute reading full of color! 。。。more

This story is about a mis-labeled crayon。 Nobody apart of his life can see past his paper。 This books main message is personal growth。 This shows children how to do normal day to day stuff as well。This book was given 4 stars because of how relatable it can be。 Its normal for kids to not look past their "paper" and not go out of their way。 This book shows to take that step。 This story is about a mis-labeled crayon。 Nobody apart of his life can see past his paper。 This books main message is personal growth。 This shows children how to do normal day to day stuff as well。This book was given 4 stars because of how relatable it can be。 Its normal for kids to not look past their "paper" and not go out of their way。 This book shows to take that step。 。。。more

I got this for one child, who is struggling with identity, and they didn't enjoy it, but their older brother found it spoke to his soul, and absolutely loved it。 Struggles and labels come in all shapes and sizes, and I have to remember everyone struggles with their colour。 I got this for one child, who is struggling with identity, and they didn't enjoy it, but their older brother found it spoke to his soul, and absolutely loved it。 Struggles and labels come in all shapes and sizes, and I have to remember everyone struggles with their colour。 。。。more

All child therapists need to get this book! It's a good one for any kid who feels different from others in any way, but especially those who might fall into the transgender category。 LOVE IT!!

gr/kokkino-i-is。。。 gr/kokkino-i-is。。。 。。。more

Parfait pour parler de la diversité。 Très bel album pour aborder la transidentité。

A surprisingly inspiring book about identity。 And crayons。 Not blatantly about trans/nonbinary but would appeal to those questioning。 The story could be about anyone struggling to fit in。 Anyone that came from the factory with the wrong label。

Ariel Jensen

Poor Red faces criticism for coloring blue。 A meaningful story that shows you can’t judge a crayon by its label。 But those dang older crayons in the beginning, man, they’re harsh。

No matter how hard he tried, Blue (who was wearing a red wrapper and mistaken for Red) could not draw red strawberries or stop lights。 Once given the chance he drew fantastic blue oceans and jeans and blueberries。 Great story about recognizing and embracing our individuality。

Red is having a tough time as a crayon because his color doesn't seem to match his wrapper。 His parents, teacher, and grandparents all have ideas about what the problem is, but their solutions don't solve anything。 When a friend asks for help with a drawing, Red discovers that maybe he's not Red after all。 A unique story about finding your own purpose, friendship, and acceptance。 Red is having a tough time as a crayon because his color doesn't seem to match his wrapper。 His parents, teacher, and grandparents all have ideas about what the problem is, but their solutions don't solve anything。 When a friend asks for help with a drawing, Red discovers that maybe he's not Red after all。 A unique story about finding your own purpose, friendship, and acceptance。 。。。more

It is a good book that encourages children to be themselves, to respect others, and even if they are not good at one thing, they will be better at another。 There are a number of possible discussion points in this story。 It is a blue crayon story that was mislabeled as red。 So, all the other crayons cannot figure out why the red things cannot be colored red。 As an aspiring teacher, because I think it has value for older kids and even adults, I can see this book being used beyond the primary grade It is a good book that encourages children to be themselves, to respect others, and even if they are not good at one thing, they will be better at another。 There are a number of possible discussion points in this story。 It is a blue crayon story that was mislabeled as red。 So, all the other crayons cannot figure out why the red things cannot be colored red。 As an aspiring teacher, because I think it has value for older kids and even adults, I can see this book being used beyond the primary grades。 。。。more

I knew nothing about this book when I picked it up。 But I loved it! I got strong transgender vibes early on and I’m still unclear if that was intentional or not。 Either way, I thought the book beautifully touched on the transgender topic for kids with a perfect metaphor。 Everything about this book is great: the talking crayons, celebration of diversity, the wit, and even the flow of words on the page。 Heartfelt and a definite read!
