Summary

Set in the Night Huntress World, ancient deities are poised to wreck havoc, unless vampires Veritas and Ian can stop them!

A gift from the gods…

Veritas and Ian have finally defeated their worst enemy, but the power it took to pierce through to the netherworld has unexpected consequences。 Soon, Veritas is forced to rely on the last person she trusts—a golden deity named Phanes, who seeks far more than a temporary alliance with the beautiful vampire。

Can unleash hell…

But an escape from the netherworld soon pits Veritas and Ian against supernatural beings seeking to rule over mortals once again。  Now, they must rally friends and foes alike—if the vampire council doesn’t execute Veritas first。 Plus, a wedge between Veritas and Ian threatens to destroy their love。 Can they stand together against the unearthly powers about to be unleashed? Or does their love—and humanity—not stand a chance?

It was great to see Ian, Veritas and the group again。 As always a great read。

Exciting and action-packed。 The only real downer was that the ending felt extremely abrupt。 I'm not usually a fan of epilogues, but this book needed a little something more at the end。 Exciting and action-packed。 The only real downer was that the ending felt extremely abrupt。 I'm not usually a fan of epilogues, but this book needed a little something more at the end。 。。。more

Yes! I didn't realize that had been out for almost two months and now I'm finally getting the next Ian and Veritas adventure! It was great but I couldn't help but feel like the ending was a bit too abrupt。 And anticlimactic。 Also, I felt that I was robbed of seeing the full extent of my fave heroine's badassery (but that's just me lol)。 Still enjoyed it nonetheless。 ((: Yes! There has never been a character I've been more in love with than Ian and this book was so disappointing。 His character was still great but this story could have been so much better。 So much unnecessary filler and banter and convenience。 I'm just so disappointed。 There has never been a character I've been more in love with than Ian and this book was so disappointing。 His character was still great but this story could have been so much better。 So much unnecessary filler and banter and convenience。 I'm just so disappointed。 。。。more

My only complaint about the audiobook is that the voice for Bones is just awful。 Otherwise, it was a great listen。

This was really such an amazing book。 Jeaniene Frost finished this series in such a good way。 It was so intense in spots I think I actually held my breath waiting to see what happened。 Lots and Lots of action and of course passion。 This is the 3rd and final book of the series, Night Rebel)。 I had a hard time putting it down Also answered some questions I had from the other 2 books。 Highly recommend。

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 I really loved the story of Ian and Veritas, it was maybe even nearly better than Vlads, which I thought was the best。But what in the world was that end?! It left so many things open。 It's like Story - Story - Story - Story ends - END。 but the end is lacking so much! what does Veritas Life now look like? can she finally be happy and free? will she be a law guardian again? what will happen with Ashael after being hurt? and will she see her father again, after he finally told her his feelings? can I really loved the story of Ian and Veritas, it was maybe even nearly better than Vlads, which I thought was the best。But what in the world was that end?! It made me really sad that Ashael just left him after they got friends。 who will care for him after Phanes can never go back?I always loved the whole Cat&Bones Bookstory, but this open end partly disappointed me, mostly, because the rest of the book was so good end the end is like just cutted off。。 。。。more

I can only repeat what I said before, it was such a relief that this series delivered unlike the extremely disappointing Vlad books。 Ian is such a fun character and I'm so glad that he found happiness with Veritas, who is obviously all kinds of awesome。 That said, while I did like the final book,I agree with others who said that it lacks *something*。 New main villains are introduced but we don't learn much about them and towards the end everything feels extremely rushed。 I actually thought it woul I can only repeat what I said before, it was such a relief that this series delivered unlike the extremely disappointing Vlad books。 Ian is such a fun character and I'm so glad that he found happiness with Veritas, who is obviously all kinds of awesome。 That said, while I did like the final book,I agree with others who said that it lacks *something*。 New main villains are introduced but we don't learn much about them and towards the end everything feels extremely rushed。 I actually thought it would end on a cliffhanger and there'd be another book because there is still so much story left when you are already at the 90% mark and then suddenly it's over。 I was waiting for an epilogue too then, now it all feels a bit unfinished。 I also missed more scenes that deepened the (emotional) connection of Ian and Veritas。 In between all the action and urgency, the story needed more breathing room and more *quiet* scenes!Oh well, overall I loved the series and the characters so I'm mostly satisfied with how it was wrapped up :) 。。。more

3。5 stars。 A lot of action, it was nice to see the full cast of characters。 I felt like it could have used an epilogue - especially if it is the last in the series。

Veritas and Ian are now my favorite couple in the Night Huntress Universe。 The love they have for another is all across the pages of this book。 I absolutely love that。 This book picks up where the one before left off and it starts with a bang。 Phanes turns out to be worse than I expected from our first meeting of him in book 2。 Old friends, new family and new allies (who were once enemies) have to join to forces to defeat an enemy no one saw coming。 And what a battle it turned out to be。 The boo Veritas and Ian are now my favorite couple in the Night Huntress Universe。 The love they have for another is all across the pages of this book。 I absolutely love that。 This book picks up where the one before left off and it starts with a bang。 Phanes turns out to be worse than I expected from our first meeting of him in book 2。 Old friends, new family and new allies (who were once enemies) have to join to forces to defeat an enemy no one saw coming。 And what a battle it turned out to be。 The book did not end in a cliffhanger as the other books in the series have done, and I was completely satisfied with were Veritas and Ian's story ended。 At the end of the day, these novels are filled with our heroes fighting for the the greater good, and loving along the way。 Now, I hope I get stories for Ashael, Marie, and Katie if no one else。 。。。more

Mixed feelings on what I'm hearing is the last book in this series。 And considered giving it a 3 but the storyline in itself kept us on a thrill ride。 But we lost the more intimate moments between Ian and Veritas。 And while the ending against the villains was satisfying, although with all the players at the table, only four really did anything。 And I always love to see the other characters we know and love。 But the ending felt abrupt to me。 I loved Book 1 and the last two couldn't match that one Mixed feelings on what I'm hearing is the last book in this series。 And considered giving it a 3 but the storyline in itself kept us on a thrill ride。 But we lost the more intimate moments between Ian and Veritas。 And while the ending against the villains was satisfying, although with all the players at the table, only four really did anything。 And I always love to see the other characters we know and love。 But the ending felt abrupt to me。 I loved Book 1 and the last two couldn't match that one, but it's still worth the read, if nothing else but to get Ian's golden barbs。 。。。more

Probably around 4。25 out of 5。 I won this book in a giveaway, but it took me a while to get to it, because I had not read a single one of this author's books before。 I had to find and read book 1 & 2 of the Night Rebel first, then circled back to the beginning of the Night Huntress universe for a bit to of background。 I've finished only two of them and still have not met Veritas in that series, but Ian seems to have done a lot of growing up since "One Foot in the Grave。"I finished the previous b Probably around 4。25 out of 5。 I won this book in a giveaway, but it took me a while to get to it, because I had not read a single one of this author's books before。 I had to find and read book 1 & 2 of the Night Rebel first, then circled back to the beginning of the Night Huntress universe for a bit to of background。 I've finished only two of them and still have not met Veritas in that series, but Ian seems to have done a lot of growing up since "One Foot in the Grave。"I finished the previous book only a few weeks ago, and I have no recollection of what happened to Ian at the end of that book, which is somewhat unfortunate。Veritas is still fairly annoying, still makes the stupidest decisions, and ends up getting duped AGAIN, but at least she finally learns some lessons toward the end, or so I hope。 I find it odd that the author that brought us Cat Crawfield came up with (and chose) this very unlikeable character as the heroine and Ian's soulmate。 For someone who has lived for millennia, she seems to have learned very little。 Ian himself, unfortunately, turns into little more than a chauffeur somewhere in the middle of the book。 I just finished "One Foot in the Grave", but I've missed Bones and Cat already, even though (especially?) because they are in this book a little bit。 As far as other characters go, I wouldn't mind getting to know Ashael more, assuming he hasn't had his story yet。I enjoy this book a lot more than the previous two。 The story is quite engaging until about page 250, when things suddenly get dull for a while。 If it's the calm before the storm, then it is way too quiet, because I stalled。 It picks back up when they finally get to the final showdown。I have no idea what the possible reference to Justice Ginsburg's death is all about。 I suppose I just don't want read too much into whatever it is。 To me, it's just a story of some beings who want take over the world, while committing genocide, and how the other beings are trying to defeat them。 。。。more

I'm a little sad and a little happy that this is the end of this trilogy。 I think any and all issues I had with this book stem back to my issue with the series as a whole。 Was it nice to visit with lots of familiar faces in the big showdown? Absolutely。 When I heard there was going to be a series involving Ian I was super excited。 He's the lovable rogue who is a good bad guy and a bad good guy。 What's not to love? Veritas being the star here was a surprise, but she certainly grew on me。 We watch her grow into her powers, grow into her family (both blood and chosen), and she is really a good match for Ian。 This last book takes us through the wild rollercoaster that is Veritas and Ian。 Ian is dying at the start of the book。 Veritas is married, yet still somehow still betrothed to a god。 Things spiral from there and yet somehow end up wrapping up without a flaw。 This book really does end up having a big story about a war that both starts and finishes in record time。 While I was OK with a bit of "fast forwarding" for things like summoning spirits, but it really felt like portions of the book went way too fast。 Why introduce a war if we weren't going to spend a lot of time in it? Weird。 The smut was present, too, but it also felt oddly rushed。 So, to summarize, while I am happy where we ended up, this book did feel a little strange。 Maybe we will check in with them later? Here's hoping! 。。。more

I just started reading Jeaniene Frost this year and am working through the back catalog。 Always a fun solid PNR read。 Things I like about her writing: easy to read with a good ratio of sex/violence/plot。 Interesting heroines developing relationships with interesting partners。 She also isn't overly descriptive about stuff I don't care that much about: buildings, locations, what people are wearing, etc。 Things I don't like about this world: Bones' cockney vernacular is like needles in my brain。 (I I just started reading Jeaniene Frost this year and am working through the back catalog。 Always a fun solid PNR read。 Things I like about her writing: easy to read with a good ratio of sex/violence/plot。 Interesting heroines developing relationships with interesting partners。 She also isn't overly descriptive about stuff I don't care that much about: buildings, locations, what people are wearing, etc。 Things I don't like about this world: Bones' cockney vernacular is like needles in my brain。 (Ian has mostly been free of this but for some reason seems to have more of this in this book)。 Some of the names/nicknames are cringey。 Cat's mom is the worst。 So now to this book: Ian was not a favorite character of mine in the other books- I didn't dislike him but I wasn't eagerly anticipating this spin-off。 BUT the first book of his series was HANDS DOWN the best book of hers I read。 Veritas' background was interesting, their relationship development was well paced, Ian was funny。 I was really excited to read the rest of the trilogy。 The Wicked series started losing a little magic in the second book and then this one sort of fell flat to me。 Things that didn't work well for me in this book:The villians/plot。 This was such a departure from the other two books in the series and I guess I was just not as into the bad-guys-want-to-take-over-the-world Marvel plot。 The antagonists in previous books of the series seemed to have more personal vendetta/connection to the protagonists and the stakes seemed higher for it。 The romance。 Or lack of it。 I think there was one (?) sexy scene and it was 60% of the way through the book。 For an insatiable man-whore and his true-love wife, there wasn't much steam in this one。 The pacing of the ending。 They (the good guys) were fighting and then they weren't, the end。 It felt very abrupt。 Am I mad that I read this? No, I enjoyed it。 But it didn't live up to my expectations from Shades of Wicked。  。。。more

3。5 StarsOverall I thought the Night Rebel series was okay。 I loved Ian, he's always been one of my favorite characters。 I missed getting his POV in this book。 I thought many times throughout the series that Veritas sounded more like a young girl instead of the centuries old master vampire that she was。 She was just okay but a good fit for Ian。This book needed an Epilogue。 It's the last book in the series, I think it needed something more than that ending and I gave it half a star less because o 3。5 StarsOverall I thought the Night Rebel series was okay。 I loved Ian, he's always been one of my favorite characters。 I missed getting his POV in this book。 I thought many times throughout the series that Veritas sounded more like a young girl instead of the centuries old master vampire that she was。 She was just okay but a good fit for Ian。This book needed an Epilogue。 It's the last book in the series, I think it needed something more than that ending and I gave it half a star less because of it。 It was too abrupt finishing the book at the end of the fight。 I'll miss Ian。 I hope to see more of him in other books though。 。。。more
