A good intro to Stoicism for a childI was looking forward to the opportunity to read this new book from Ryan Holiday since his announcement。 I was introduced to Stoicism in large by Ryan Holiday’s previous books, and I was looking forward for this book thinking in my little niece, in my godson, and children from other friends。 It’s quite a good read, and one that I could imagine reading to a kid - if the quarantine allows it, and hopefully a son someday。 The message is clear and easy to understa A good intro to Stoicism for a childI was looking forward to the opportunity to read this new book from Ryan Holiday since his announcement。 I was introduced to Stoicism in large by Ryan Holiday’s previous books, and I was looking forward for this book thinking in my little niece, in my godson, and children from other friends。 It’s quite a good read, and one that I could imagine reading to a kid - if the quarantine allows it, and hopefully a son someday。 The message is clear and easy to understand, for a kid to be presented with destiny’s choice and being offered the support of his elders for his tasks ahead。 The illustrations are wonderful and give a true live image of the messages in the book。 These brief comments are based on the kindle version, and now more convinced to acquire a few hard copies that I will be giving and reading to my niece, godson and other children。 。。。more

I enjoyed this。 I am a fan of Ryan's books, in general, but think he did a wonderful job with this book。 In a talk he gave, he indicated how he wrote this book with his children。 He would read them the book and get their reactions and go back and tweak it to make things more clear when they were confused。 It's inspiring to know that he's passing along the love of reading to his children。 A short read, it'll take just a few minutes to read but packed with insight in ways that are approachable。 I enjoyed this。 I am a fan of Ryan's books, in general, but think he did a wonderful job with this book。 In a talk he gave, he indicated how he wrote this book with his children。 He would read them the book and get their reactions and go back and tweak it to make things more clear when they were confused。 It's inspiring to know that he's passing along the love of reading to his children。 A short read, it'll take just a few minutes to read but packed with insight in ways that are approachable。 。。。more

Designed I believe for reading to children, it's a well illustrated portrayal of Marcus Aurelius' early life。 Some liberties are taken with the story to make it easier to understand for the target audience but I don't believe this takes from the impact the book can have and most importantly the message it is trying to convey。 Well be a present for a young family member when they are older。 Designed I believe for reading to children, it's a well illustrated portrayal of Marcus Aurelius' early life。 Some liberties are taken with the story to make it easier to understand for the target audience but I don't believe this takes from the impact the book can have and most importantly the message it is trying to convey。 Well be a present for a young family member when they are older。 。。。more

Powerful Example Simply WrittenI read this with an eye toward my son Dalai who is just 17 months old。 I’m excited to share this with him as he grows older。 Marcus’s example is a powerful one for us all。

Teach teach teach thisThis is a great story of a great ancient。 To be taught to all youngsters a solid foundation in life。 Well done Mr。 Holiday。 There is a need to a renewed effort and attention paid to the ancients now more than ever。 The focus of the whole starts with the self。

Christian Tvede Steffensen

Great book with fantastic illustrations。

Great short read for kids, love the illustrations。 Kept my four year old entertained。 This length was perfect, the pictures kept his attention, and he asked two questions while reading through - always a good sign。 Good 'mini-biography' to introduce history to your youngest。 Great short read for kids, love the illustrations。 Kept my four year old entertained。 This length was perfect, the pictures kept his attention, and he asked two questions while reading through - always a good sign。 Good 'mini-biography' to introduce history to your youngest。 。。。more

“What does reading books have to do with being a king?” Marcus asked。 “Everything,” Rusticus answered。

Not as expectedNot what I expected from Ryan Holiday。 Maybe a good children’s book, not the typical deeper thinking I have come to expect。

Keep Reading, keep learningI read this before giving it to my 8 year old grandson。 The story of Marcus Aurelius was a real and inspiring read, instilling virtuous qualities that I hope my grands follow。 Illustrations are perfect。

Jeffrey

Nice quick story for my two sons and I but expensive for a 10 minute read。

Craig Carignan

I really liked the quick read。 Very worthwhile for a younger child or even an。 adult。

Great fable for children with many timeless lessons distilled from stoicism。

Abay Bektursun

ShortThe illustrations are so good, the lessons are amazing。 But it’s so short。 Why make a book when it could have been an instagram post?

Zak Clark

Great story for kids A gentle reminder to accept what life throws at you and make the best of it。 Great lesson for kids and adults。

Brian

Lessons that all of us, from young to old, could stand to heed。

A great little book that tells how Marcus Aurelius was trained to be a leader, a thinker, a learner, a reader, and a good person。 The illustrations, by Victor Juhasz, are beautiful。 This book will have special meaning to readers who have read Meditations by Aurelius (I recommend the Gregory Hays or Robin Waterfield translations) and know of his life story。 There are subtle references to concepts he wrote later on in his journals as well as the people who shaped him, one of those includes his tea A great little book that tells how Marcus Aurelius was trained to be a leader, a thinker, a learner, a reader, and a good person。 The illustrations, by Victor Juhasz, are beautiful。 This book will have special meaning to readers who have read Meditations by Aurelius (I recommend the Gregory Hays or Robin Waterfield translations) and know of his life story。 There are subtle references to concepts he wrote later on in his journals as well as the people who shaped him, one of those includes his teacher Rusticus。 This is a really good book for all ages, that should be read multiple times。 。。。more

A beautiful inspirational book that carries a message not just for children but for Adults as well。 This book could be one of those gifts one keeps on giving to family and friends with children。 I feel every parent will enjoy teaching the wisdom and the illustrations are a treasure on its own。

I bought it automatically as I buy all of Holiday's stuff。 Was shocked it was a "children's" book。 Was also shocked that it turned out *not* to be a children's book as I needed to read this today - and every few days just to keep my purpose in check。 I bought it automatically as I buy all of Holiday's stuff。 Was shocked it was a "children's" book。 Was also shocked that it turned out *not* to be a children's book as I needed to read this today - and every few days just to keep my purpose in check。 。。。more

ESSENTIALS Simple and focused, Ryan was able to summarize the most important points of stoicism and Marcus Aurelius。 His Daily Stoic keeps reminding us how valuable marcus' teaching。 ESSENTIALS Simple and focused, Ryan was able to summarize the most important points of stoicism and Marcus Aurelius。 His Daily Stoic keeps reminding us how valuable marcus' teaching。 。。。more
