Summary

Poor Duncan just wants to color。 But when he opens his box of crayons, he finds only letters, all saying the same thing: We quit!

Beige is tired of playing second fiddle to Brown。 Blue needs a break from coloring all that water, while Pink just wants to be used。 Green has no complaints, but Orange and Yellow are no longer speaking to each other。

What is Duncan to do? Debut author Drew Daywalt and New York Times bestseller Oliver Jeffers create a colorful solution in this playful, imaginative story that will have children laughing and playing with their crayons in a whole new way。

The Day the Crayons Quit is such a fun read! I really liked the message of the story that if you are upset or feel mistreated to speak up to make a change。

The Day the Crayons Quit features a young boy who wants to color。 But when he grabs his box of crayons, he finds that all of the crayons have gone on strike。 Each crayon has written a letter to protest their use and Duncan is shocked, he never knew his crayons felt this way! Personification is a key element of this story。 Each crayon has to come to life to write their own letters。 Without this personification factor, the story would not be the story that it is。 I give this book a five star ratin The Day the Crayons Quit features a young boy who wants to color。 But when he grabs his box of crayons, he finds that all of the crayons have gone on strike。 Each crayon has written a letter to protest their use and Duncan is shocked, he never knew his crayons felt this way! Everyone should read this amazing book The Day The Crayons Quit。 The book has super good pictures and many funny surprises。 The first reason you should read this book is because in the pictures it looks like a kid really made it with crayon 。 For example, on the cover of the outstanding book it looks like real crayons made it with wax。 Another reason to read this amazing book is because it has a surprise ending。 For example, Duncan used all the crayons to make the rainbow looking colors happy。 I Everyone should read this amazing book The Day The Crayons Quit。 The book has super good pictures and many funny surprises。 The first reason you should read this book is because in the pictures it looks like a kid really made it with crayon 。 For example, on the cover of the outstanding book it looks like real crayons made it with wax。 Another reason to read this amazing book is because it has a surprise ending。 For example, Duncan used all the crayons to make the rainbow looking colors happy。 In my opinion The Day The Crayons Quit is the best book ever made and if you see the book some where you should read it or even better you should buy the book。 。。。more

This was another book I remembered after reading a "must-read picture books" list。 I've heard about it for years but had never picked it up。 I'm glad we read it now, though! L had already read it in her kindergarten class this year but was happy to hear it again, and F was amused by it, too (although she's only 3 and some of the funny parts were too sophisticated for her grasp, I think)。 I particularly liked the illustrations with each crayon's distinct handwriting on their letters to the child。 This was another book I remembered after reading a "must-read picture books" list。 I've heard about it for years but had never picked it up。 I'm glad we read it now, though! Definitely a clever book, and I can see why it has become a modern classic。 。。。more

This is definitely one of the most delightful books I have read recently!!! It would be a fun gift for someone (or lots of someones!) ---and include a box of crayons。

This book is really wonderful。 It takes on the perspective of the crayon。 The red crayon is tired of being used for valentines day。 Black is tired of being only used for outlines。 Beige wants to be colored in the lines。。。 As the person that always use the item, we never really take the time to think about how they might feel。 Maybe we should。 the art looks like a 5 year old drew it, which ads character to the story。 This book reminds me so munch of how I would bring inanimate objects to life as This book is really wonderful。 It takes on the perspective of the crayon。 The red crayon is tired of being used for valentines day。 Black is tired of being only used for outlines。 Beige wants to be colored in the lines。。。 As the person that always use the item, we never really take the time to think about how they might feel。 Maybe we should。 the art looks like a 5 year old drew it, which ads character to the story。 This book reminds me so munch of how I would bring inanimate objects to life as a child and would be wonderful for 3-7 year olds。 。。。more

I loved this book and the illustrations! This story is about a box of crayons who are tired of being mistreated/ overused by their owner。 They each write letters about how they are feeling to their owner, Duncan。 At the end of the story Duncan uses all of his colors to create this fun pictures for his teacher。 I think that this is a great book to have different voices for the characters to keep the students interested。 You could have so much fun with it!

The crayons have some words for you, Duncan ┗|`O′|┛Will he be able to make the crayons happy again?

Sasha

Read aloud to the kids, I think it’s just ok, but they love it and I’ve had to read it everyday for about a week。

Brenda

Funny book about how each crayon color feels about being used for coloring books。

Gwynith Camp

This book is really funny and enjoyable and personifies the crayons, giving them personalities。 It would be a good way to teach younger children what color certain items are normally colored, and also help them learn about feelings and emotions。

Book is about crayons who want to quit。 They write letters to their owner Duncan explaining how they are feeling。 Used this book to get children to come up with adjectives to describe how the crayons were feeling and then act them out in a still image。 Could use it in literacy for letter writing e。g。 write a letter from Duncan convincing the crayons not to quit。 Could also be good for PSHE lesson about feelings。
