Simple but packed with informationMy daughter (4) loved this book。 She mostly wanted to look at the pictures but I snuck in a few facts。 The text would enlarge if you clicked on it。 My only complaint is we couldn't zoom in on the pictures to get a better look。 Simple but packed with informationMy daughter (4) loved this book。 She mostly wanted to look at the pictures but I snuck in a few facts。 The text would enlarge if you clicked on it。 My only complaint is we couldn't zoom in on the pictures to get a better look。 。。。more

This is a great book to suggest to students who are interested or what to learn more about the ocean。 I liked that the book is divided into the different oceans with plants/animals that live in them。 The wording isn't too difficult for younger kids and there are plenty of pictures instead of a lot of paragraphs of information。 At the end of the book, there is a list of activities to build on what was learned from reading this book which is a helpful resource for teachers。 Teachers could use this This is a great book to suggest to students who are interested or what to learn more about the ocean。 I liked that the book is divided into the different oceans with plants/animals that live in them。 The wording isn't too difficult for younger kids and there are plenty of pictures instead of a lot of paragraphs of information。 At the end of the book, there is a list of activities to build on what was learned from reading this book which is a helpful resource for teachers。 Teachers could use this book with science lessons and experiments and then implement one of the activities from the book into another subject area to create integrated lessons。 。。。more

This series by National Geographic is wonderful。 Each page is filled with gorgeous photography that a preschooler would enjoy looking at by herself。 Each chapter is just a few pages, but filled with just the right amount of information to keep my granddaughters interested as we read together。 They are 5 and 7 yrs old。 Easily could be read to a younger child by skipping the paragraphs and just reading the short text statements in the colorful bubbles on each page。

They have a book for almost every subject。 I chose this book because it highlights on one of the ocean's most fierce predators, the shark。 If a child reads this and become interested about the animals, they may be more likely to learn about them further in a nonfiction text。 I would continue to recommend these text be read by intermediate grade level readers (grades 3-6)。 。。。more

This is probably one of my most prized future-classroom-library additions。 It includes ocean animals from all six oceans, and even has ideas for games and activities to do with your kids that help reiterate the facts in the book。 The pictures are absolutely amazing and so colorful that they are sure to hold any kids' interest。 I would pair this book with a personal favorite, Finding Nemo。 This book retells the movie Finding Nemo and even has 3D images。 Both of these books can help introduce the This is probably one of my most prized future-classroom-library additions。 It includes ocean animals from all six oceans, and even has ideas for games and activities to do with your kids that help reiterate the facts in the book。 The pictures are absolutely amazing and so colorful that they are sure to hold any kids' interest。 I would pair this book with a personal favorite, Finding Nemo。 This book retells the movie Finding Nemo and even has 3D images。 Both of these books can help introduce the topic of oceans or ocean animals, and many of the animals from Finding Nemo can be found in the National Geographic book like the orange clownfish, blue whale, deepsea anglerfish, sea nettle jellyfish, and sea turtle。 。。。more
