This book put me in an excellent and positive frame of mind before we got our puppy。 Tons of great points and techniques and tidbits included in this and several parts had me laughing out loud too。 Some of these tips don't apply to my yet until our puppy is a bit older, but I can always re-listen and enjoy again。 This book put me in an excellent and positive frame of mind before we got our puppy。 Tons of great points and techniques and tidbits included in this and several parts had me laughing out loud too。 Some of these tips don't apply to my yet until our puppy is a bit older, but I can always re-listen and enjoy again。 。。。more

My puppy bible! I’m gonna return to this book so many times。。。

Some great tips but the author seems to think his way is perfect and universal for any puppy - it's not。 And his cockiness made it annoying to read sometimes。 There were a few good jokes and good tips etc, and we have adopted some of the training advice, but the 'my way or the highway' approach just annoyed me。 A happy and healthy approach is much better in my opinion。 Some great tips but the author seems to think his way is perfect and universal for any puppy - it's not。 And his cockiness made it annoying to read sometimes。 There were a few good jokes and good tips etc, and we have adopted some of the training advice, but the 'my way or the highway' approach just annoyed me。 A happy and healthy approach is much better in my opinion。 。。。more

A lot to learn! I thought I knew so much about dogs, after all I’ve had them all of my life。 But this book has allowed me to see that I can learn so much more。 An entertaining read, but informative too。 I am aquiring a little pup during the third lockdown, and mean to make my new pup a wonderful companion during my older years。 As an elderly new owner, I am looking forward to some fun, and this book has encouraged me to show the naysayers, what I CAN do rather than what I can’t。

I really like this training book。 It seemed to be doable。 I wish that there were more pictures or descriptions。 But, this has been one of my favorites。 I especially loved his idea of going on a rucksack walk, which is a relaxing short walk and then sit in the grass with the dog and one at a time pull out special things that you brought to share with the puppy—a new object, a new special food, etc。 Put these items in a Tupperware container and slowly take it out。 It helps to build a special relat I really like this training book。 It seemed to be doable。 I wish that there were more pictures or descriptions。 But, this has been one of my favorites。 I especially loved his idea of going on a rucksack walk, which is a relaxing short walk and then sit in the grass with the dog and one at a time pull out special things that you brought to share with the puppy—a new object, a new special food, etc。 Put these items in a Tupperware container and slowly take it out。 It helps to build a special relationship and helps to soothe and calm the mind。 。。。more

If you don't follow me on Facebook (and if not, why not?!) you may not have seen the news that we have put down a deposit on a puppy。 We can't bring her home for another fortnight, but we are in love with her already。So, as is my way, I have immediately bought and read a load of books about dogs。 Oh, maybe not a load, but I have bought two for myself and two for my girls。 And yes, I have read them all already。The first of these is Easy Peasy Puppy Squeezy and it contains a wealth of information。 If you don't follow me on Facebook (and if not, why not?!) you may not have seen the news that we have put down a deposit on a puppy。 We can't bring her home for another fortnight, but we are in love with her already。So, as is my way, I have immediately bought and read a load of books about dogs。 Oh, maybe not a load, but I have bought two for myself and two for my girls。 And yes, I have read them all already。The first of these is Easy Peasy Puppy Squeezy and it contains a wealth of information。This is a really well written book。 It is casual enough that you feel like you are having a conversation with Steve, yet it is full of solid advice, ways to approach your pet, tips and tricks (though in reality, there is no trick, other than starting training your dog right and don't use violence or aggression to them)。I'm not going to go into what the book teaches too much, because this is a book that I think is worth you buying, but I now have a list of key words stuck to my fridge, and I feel more confident looking after a new member of the family。If you have a puppy, or want one, read this book, and if you have an older dog, you may be interested to know that Steve Mann has a book aimed at older dogs too。 。。。more

I enjoyed the book and the style in which it's written。 I'd have preferred a little more guidance as to order for training a new puppy。 As it is, I feel discombobulated in not knowing where to start, meaning which training exercises should I start with from day one? Don't get me wrong, it's a very useful book and I'd certainly recommend it, but like many others, I'm writing a review before the puppy has even arrived。 That happens in three weeks' time。 The book was also very useful in putting tog I enjoyed the book and the style in which it's written。 I'd have preferred a little more guidance as to order for training a new puppy。 As it is, I feel discombobulated in not knowing where to start, meaning which training exercises should I start with from day one? Loved this book, it's given me the confidence to think I may just be capable of training and caring for our new dog when he arrives。 I guess the proof will be in the pudding but Mann writes in a very reassuring and comedic manner。 Loved this book, it's given me the confidence to think I may just be capable of training and caring for our new dog when he arrives。 I guess the proof will be in the pudding but Mann writes in a very reassuring and comedic manner。 。。。more

It's a great guide but I found it lacking in places。 It talks a lot about training (as you'd expect) but would be good if it made it clear which to do first, or are you supposed to do all in one go。 Also doesn't cover leaving dogs to prevent separation anxiety。 This are however small points, it's an easy read and the writing style isnt preachy。 It's a great guide but I found it lacking in places。 It talks a lot about training (as you'd expect) but would be good if it made it clear which to do first, or are you supposed to do all in one go。 Also doesn't cover leaving dogs to prevent separation anxiety。 This are however small points, it's an easy read and the writing style isnt preachy。 。。。more

Great actionable advice and amazing "no-punishment" approach。 In the end it's still a little confusing with all the different exercises you need to do so I would have loved the inclusion of a daily/weekly training plan to help。 This way, I will have to go through it again and try to write my own。It's also riddled with spelling errors, but I didn't really mind。 Great actionable advice and amazing "no-punishment" approach。 In the end it's still a little confusing with all the different exercises you need to do so I would have loved the inclusion of a daily/weekly training plan to help。 This way, I will have to go through it again and try to write my own。It's also riddled with spelling errors, but I didn't really mind。 。。。more

A great dog training book that imparts a lot of practical knowledge in a fun, wholesome and humorous way。 I listened to it on Audible which brought the added benefit of the writer's excellent British accent, so I would recommend that option to fans of audiobooks。 Immediately before reading this book I read Zak George's Dog Training Revolution, so I couldn't help but compare the two trainers' approaches throughout。 Generally speaking their philosophies are very similar: train your dog with kindne A great dog training book that imparts a lot of practical knowledge in a fun, wholesome and humorous way。 I listened to it on Audible which brought the added benefit of the writer's excellent British accent, so I would recommend that option to fans of audiobooks。 Immediately before reading this book I read Zak George's Dog Training Revolution, so I couldn't help but compare the two trainers' approaches throughout。 Generally speaking their philosophies are very similar: train your dog with kindness and compassion, avoid shouting and telling them "no", redirect unwanted behaviours to acceptable ones, etc etc。 I did wonder, upon learning that Steve feeds his dogs a raw diet, if Zak's paragraph discouraging what he calls the 'BARF diet' (Bones and Raw Food) might have been a thinly veiled jab at his British counterpart。 And sorry Steve but I have to agree with Zak on that one - paleo is insufferable enough when humans do it, let's leave the pups out of this! 。。。more

Great tool for trainingThis is an excellent book that sets out the basics of puppy training perfectly。 The examples of why it's best to do things a certain way make so much sense that it makes you wonder why people haven't been training dogs like this all along! Plus the author's ability to humanise why you might do a certain training behaviour makes it difficult to argue with anything he puts forward。 Hopefully I'll be able to put this all into practice once the puppy arrives 🤞🏻 Great tool for trainingThis is an excellent book that sets out the basics of puppy training perfectly。 The examples of why it's best to do things a certain way make so much sense that it makes you wonder why people haven't been training dogs like this all along!
