Summary

When children go missing in the small coastal town of Astoria, people look to Wendy for answers。

It's been five years since Wendy and her two brothers went missing in the woods, but when the town’s children start to disappear, the questions surrounding her brothers’ mysterious circumstances are brought back into light。 Attempting to flee her past, Wendy almost runs over an unconscious boy lying in the middle of the road, and gets pulled into the mystery haunting the town。

Peter, a boy she thought lived only in her stories, claims that if they don't do something, the missing children will meet the same fate as her brothers。 In order to find them and rescue the missing kids, Wendy must confront what's waiting for her in the woods。

Such an odd book。 Very different。When Aida announced this book In The Neverwoods, I was exited。 I’m such a lover and sucker of Cemetery Boys that I was on board to go back to my childhood and return to Neverland with Peter Pan。 I love this movie so, so much。 Always triggers me on the folk tale of Peter Pan taking the kids to The Second Star on the right。 People forget when they grow and is scary。 It triggers me because I have memories that I can’t remember but the way Aidan describes what is Nev Such an odd book。 Very different。When Aida announced this book In The Neverwoods, I was exited。 I’m such a lover and sucker of Cemetery Boys that I was on board to go back to my childhood and return to Neverland with Peter Pan。 I love this movie so, so much。 Always triggers me on the folk tale of Peter Pan taking the kids to The Second Star on the right。 People forget when they grow and is scary。 It triggers me because I have memories that I can’t remember but the way Aidan describes what is Neverland in this book just made a tightrope on my stomach。 I enjoyed the book。 There were parts that were slow but the story was interesting。 Tho’ I’d have loved that it was once more in England but that’s just my personal taste。 Oregon worked for me awesomely。 Also I’d have love to see more of the shadow。 It was very creepy when it showed。 But above all, Aiden did a great job with the twist, with the characters and finally giving us that kiss between Peter and Wendy, he definitely try to change the ending! Peter losing Wendy ahh ahh ahh。 Yes is the song。 I hope Aiden keeps on working on more books and goes back to out beloved Latix boys。 I need more dead people。 。。。more

I wish I could give this less than one star。 The plot is completely predictable and the novel is poorly written。 Everyone mumbles, chews their words, cries, etc。 it’s a lot。

5 stars! Peter Pan was one of my favourite fairytales growing up and I’ve always wanted to read a really amazing retelling of it。 Well let me tell you, this is that retelling。 I was wearing my heart on my sleeve all throughout reading this book and I cannot stop thinking about it。 I cannot stop tearing up when I think about it。 I think there was just something in the story and something about Wendy’s character that really resonated with me; I’ve never felt so seen before, but in a very subtle wa 5 stars! *NO SPOILERS*The simplest way I can describe this is Peter Pan meets IT by Stephen King。 Oh boy。 OH BOY。 I went in with really high expectations because I loved Cemetery Boys so much and I was not disappointed。 This book brought me right back to my Peter Pan obsession in middle school in all the best ways。 The way I'm feeling right now cannot be put into words。 I don't even like men and I was in love with Peter Pan by the end of the book。 I was a crying mess!! Love Aiden Thomas and even like the writing in this title。 I am unfortunately am in the minority of not connecting with Peter Pan stories。 I'll likely pick it up again to finish when the hold list goes down though。 Love Aiden Thomas and even like the writing in this title。 I am unfortunately am in the minority of not connecting with Peter Pan stories。 I'll likely pick it up again to finish when the hold list goes down though。 。。。more

3。5 stars Peter Pan is one of my all time favorite stories EVER, so I was super excited to read this book。 I really liked the premise, but it's lacking depth。 The characters were pretty bland, especially Wendy。 I had a rough idea about what was happening, so the twist wasn't really a twist to me because I've sort of always thought Peter did what he's described as doing here (trying not to spoil!) The biggest strength of the book is its very honest portrayal of grief and trauma。 3。5 stars Peter Pan is one of my all time favorite stories EVER, so I was super excited to read this book。 I really liked the premise, but it's lacking depth。 The characters were pretty bland, especially Wendy。 I had a rough idea about what was happening, so the twist wasn't really a twist to me because I've sort of always thought Peter did what he's described as doing here (trying not to spoil!) 3。5 - A modern reimagining of Peter Pan where Wendy’s two brothers have been missing for years and Wendy herself suffers from amnesia about her own missing six months。 When “Peter” turns up years later out of the blue the two work together to find out what exactly happened to her brothers。 A deep dive into the grief a family suffers from the loss of a child/children。 Creative and imaginative but it was a little too dark and sad for my personal tastes (by dint of the nature of the topic)。 If you’ 3。5 - A modern reimagining of Peter Pan where Wendy’s two brothers have been missing for years and Wendy herself suffers from amnesia about her own missing six months。 When “Peter” turns up years later out of the blue the two work together to find out what exactly happened to her brothers。 A deep dive into the grief a family suffers from the loss of a child/children。 Creative and imaginative but it was a little too dark and sad for my personal tastes (by dint of the nature of the topic)。 If you’re looking for a happy magical realism story this one isn’t for you。 。。。more

Beautiful, lyrical, poetic, haunting and heart wrenching。 One of the best Peter Pan retellings I have ever read

I gave it 3 stars because of my undying love for all things Peter Pan。 However, there were a lot of issues。。。 Wendy was not a very interesting character。 There were a lot of issues with pacing。 For all of the urgency when Peter and Wendy spoke (in regards to finding the lost children), they lollygagged A LOT。 Overall, I was super excited for this book, but it left me feeling a little hollow。 Do I hate the book? Not exactly。 Will I read it again? Probably not。

This just didn't click with me the way Cemetery Boys did last year。 I like the Peter's shadow stuff as well as the creepy scenes throughout the book and the little murder mystery at the center of it, but that was about it。 I think the book is overwritten (which was a problem I did have with CB) and too long。 The plot drags and while the characters keep saying that time is running out, it seems like Peter and Wendy do a lot of wasting time by getting ice cream and hanging out at home。 Peter and W This just didn't click with me the way Cemetery Boys did last year。 I like the Peter's shadow stuff as well as the creepy scenes throughout the book and the little murder mystery at the center of it, but that was about it。 I think the book is overwritten (which was a problem I did have with CB) and too long。 The plot drags and while the characters keep saying that time is running out, it seems like Peter and Wendy do a lot of wasting time by getting ice cream and hanging out at home。 Peter and Wendy are flat and uninteresting as characters and I didn't really care about the romance forming between them。 This just felt unmemorable and didn't have the phenomenal character interaction that CB did。 。。。more

I absolutely LOVED this book!! It was such a comforting and cozy read even through the heartbreaking and dark moments of the book。 It had a bittersweet ending but I couldn’t have wished for a better one。

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 This is so painful for me to rate because I really enjoyed this book so much。 I love the writing and the concept and the pain/angst, but I really hated the romance。 When reading the book, I didn't feel very attached to the romance and it didn't bother me too much。 After I finished reading and reflected on the book, I found that the more I thought of Peter and Wendy's "romance" it made me feel uncomfortable。 Wendy is 18 years old and has been pinning over a 13 year old boy。 When Peter and Wendy m This is so painful for me to rate because I really enjoyed this book so much。 I love the writing and the concept and the pain/angst, but I really hated the romance。 When reading the book, I didn't feel very attached to the romance and it didn't bother me too much。 After I finished reading and reflected on the book, I found that the more I thought of Peter and Wendy's "romance" it made me feel uncomfortable。 Wendy is 18 years old and has been pinning over a 13 year old boy。 When Peter and Wendy meet again, Peter is 13。 It just rubs me the wrong way and I did not like it。 I wish it had a bit more focus on friendship。 I also found that there were quite a few parts were specific lines were repeated throughout the book。 I understand that it was to show importance to those things, but almost word for word repetition? The readers are more intelligent and don't need a word for word repeat of what happened a couple chapters ago。 It would have really added more depth if there were more illusions in those parts instead of recycling material。 Again, I really enjoyed my experience reading this book and would read it again。 I want to also make that clear。 Before reading this book, I didn't think I had any particular attachment to Peter Pan。 This book just brought me back to my childhood and made me so nostalgic。 I loved the whole premise of Neverland being a place to help children move on, and Peter being used as a guide for the children。 This concept is so much more beautiful and powerful than the original。 I loved the emphasis on grief and how grief carried the characters throughout the book, it was so beautiful。 。。。more

You have to give this one time。 About 3/4 of the way through I was hit by all of the feelings。 I learned while reading the beginning that I don’t think I like the Peter Pan story in general, but then what the author does with it is fresh, new, and meaningful。 It makes so much more sense this way, however gut wrenching。 Go read this book!

I love this book but it has destroyed me。 The writing is so magnetic and you fall into it almost instantly。 The romance is a perfect slow burn and all the characters are thought out so well。 The book took a direction I wasn’t expecting but I loved every bit of it。 Almost like Peter Pan fan fiction but darker and more real。 The ending hurts tho。

Man, I really wanted to like this book。 It's a Peter Pan retelling, so the premise automatically hooked me。 Unfortunately, this book just didn't do it for me。 I made it about 30% through, but the pace was so slow that it just didn't keep my interest。 I didn't feel strongly connected to any of the characters, which made it even more difficult to keep going。 Additionally, the writing just didn't connect for me either; it felt jilted and choppy。 For example: Wendy wasn't much of a hugger。 They al Man, I really wanted to like this book。 It's a Peter Pan retelling, so the premise automatically hooked me。 Unfortunately, this book just didn't do it for me。 I made it about 30% through, but the pace was so slow that it just didn't keep my interest。 I didn't feel strongly connected to any of the characters, which made it even more difficult to keep going。 Additionally, the writing just didn't connect for me either; it felt jilted and choppy。 For example: Wendy wasn't much of a hugger。 They always felt awkward and forced。 Sometime over the last five years, she'd forgotten how to do it。 She got teased for it a lot。 I will, however, still be checking out Cemetery Boys, I've read a number of reviews that preferred that book and I'm excited to see how that one reads。 。。。more
