Took a few chapters to get into as disjointed。 Enjoyed content and found it an easy read。 Lovely ending。

Tami Bartshe

Don’t understand all the hype about this book。 I found the different voices telling the story, very confusing。 Seems to me that the story really didn’t pick up til half way through the book。 Lots of twists and turns。 It was just OK to me。

A good psychological thriller。 Very interesting。 The story is told by three characters。 Libby, Henry and Lucy。 Written in such a way so the reader won't get confused。 I really enjoyed the book。 A good psychological thriller。 Very interesting。 The story is told by three characters。 Libby, Henry and Lucy。 Written in such a way so the reader won't get confused。 I really enjoyed the book。 。。。more

Great book! Quick pace, multiple narrators, creepy ending。

Jeanette Rimmer

I absolutely loved this book, the pace was perfect and the story dark with lots of twists and turns。 It was easy to imagine the tension between the characters and the situations。 It's also the first time I've read a book containing a character with my husbands name which I found strangely amusing。 Will be looking for more Lisa Jewell now。 I absolutely loved this book, the pace was perfect and the story dark with lots of twists and turns。 It was easy to imagine the tension between the characters and the situations。 It's also the first time I've read a book containing a character with my husbands name which I found strangely amusing。 Will be looking for more Lisa Jewell now。 。。。more

I really enjoyed this book。 It was serious, yet whimsical。 I was able to predict some of the ending but not all。 So when I thought I knew, I didn’t!

this was DEEPLY STUPID and the end made me actually howl with laughter, but i flew through this and read the whole thing in like three or four hours and i think i enjoyed it。 i cannot wait to describe what happened in this book to my friends because i'm gonna get the most joy out of retelling this plot with cackling glee, which is what it deserves! it's just that kind of nonsense! my wee dumb mysteries that i give a three star。 does it deserve it? who knows。 what a fucking dumb wild ride this was DEEPLY STUPID and the end made me actually howl with laughter, but i flew through this and read the whole thing in like three or four hours and i think i enjoyed it。 i cannot wait to describe what happened in this book to my friends because i'm gonna get the most joy out of retelling this plot with cackling glee, which is what it deserves! it's just that kind of nonsense! my wee dumb mysteries that i give a three star。 does it deserve it? who knows。 what a fucking dumb wild ride 。。。more

A bit ridiculous, but a whole lot of fun。

This book was kind of a slower start but I think it really began to pick up in the middle。 It had me on my toes and I enjoyed the different stories that all met up。

What an intense read- so dark and twisted。 Amazing character development and the story continues to twist and get darker by each page, right up until the last。 I’m excited to read the sequel when it comes out next year。 In the mean time, I look forward to reading more Jewell books。

Sarah Meyer

I enjoyed this quick read and mystery。 It kept me on my toes and wanting more。

Melanie

That ending。。。 So twisty and I loved the different POVs - it just worked so well with the perspective changes keeping out guessing, then slowly filling you in as to what actually happened。 And it just got crazier and weirder the more I read。 Really enjoyed this one。

Karynn

Twisted family story includes a cult, a few murders, a cats missing tail and a totally dysfunctional living arrangement。 The story is told from 3 different points of view which helps give you a well rounded picture。 Enjoyable read and kept me turning the pages and guessing。

Tessa Childers

This is a pretty dark one for Lisa Jewell and I loved every moment of it。 A fine domestic thriller!

This was one of those books that makes me ask "how do people come up with this stuff?" Libby is a 25 year old English woman who works at a kitchen design store and gobsmacked to find out she's inherited a London home worth millions。 She knew she was adopted, but didn't know she had been found abandoned in a home where three adults had died in a suicide pact。 Apparently there were other children in the home at the time of this pact, but they've disappeared。 We learn about the story from Libby and This was one of those books that makes me ask "how do people come up with this stuff?" After an entire book of suspense and not being able to put it down, that’s the ending we get? This book was 4 stars, the ending was 2 so I averaged it at a 3。 It was easy to guess a lot of the plot ahead of time but it was still a very good read。 I imagine the real ending is Henry sitting on a beach with a drink in his hand after he’s killed everyone。

Eszter Molnár

A good read。 I especially liked the bits about Lucy in France。

Jan Talkington

This book kept me engaged。 It's not a thriller per se, but an interesting story that kept me thinking about where it was going。 Another book with an open ended ending - which I like。 This book kept me engaged。 It's not a thriller per se, but an interesting story that kept me thinking about where it was going。 Another book with an open ended ending - which I like。 。。。more

So many interesting twists and turns。 You think you have it all figured out but you don’t! There are so many dynamic characters, but Jewell rounds them all out so nicely in the end。

Lesley

Loved this book, a proper page turner, I couldn’t put it down。

this book us not for me I was reading it around Sept 2020 and got halfway then just stopped as I wasnt enjoying it。 Thought to go back and finish it but i just dont like it。 too much jumping around of the characters with no clear connection to draw me in so decided I will cut my losses and not finish。

2。5 The way in which this story is written keeps you entertained and captured enough to keep going。 Didn't enjoy the ending however the book surprised in telling a story I didn't predict from the synopsis。 2。5 The way in which this story is written keeps you entertained and captured enough to keep going。 Didn't enjoy the ending however the book surprised in telling a story I didn't predict from the synopsis。 。。。more

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 Excellent realistic fiction! Wish it had come with a rating on it like on Netflix where it tells you ahead of time “violence, sexual violence, child abuse”, etc。 Was not ready for 2 of the scenes in the book and had to take a break for a day to recover from what I read。 However, it was 4 lives woven together and unraveled by flipping from present tense to past tense。 Kind of like an unsolved mystery and all the gory details。 Good read。
