A sweet new-sibling book featuring what I interpreted as a biracial Black and Indian-American big sister learning to love her new little sibling。 Very cute, and a great example of reframing a situation you're not sure about to be more positive。 While this book is gendered ("It's big Sister time") and there's an accompanying It's Big Brother Time, you could easily swap out "sibling" for "sister" or "brother" while reading。Themes: New Sibling, Love, FamilyAge range: Toddler-Preschool A sweet new-sibling book featuring what I interpreted as a biracial Black and Indian-American big sister learning to love her new little sibling。 Very cute, and a great example of reframing a situation you're not sure about to be more positive。 While this book is gendered ("It's big Sister time") and there's an accompanying It's Big Brother Time, you could easily swap out "sibling" for "sister" or "brother" while reading。Themes: New Sibling, Love, FamilyAge range: Toddler-Preschool 。。。more

It's Big Sister Time! and It's Big Brother Time! are essentially the same book with almost identical wording and illustrations。 The gender of the main character is different, and that leads to some gendering of background items in the illustrations that I'm not a fan of (sister dresses up; brother builds with blocks)。 There are some other choices that I don't mind but do stand out--grandparents are different people in each book teaching the kids to make different things, and the clothing items t It's Big Sister Time! and It's Big Brother Time! are essentially the same book with almost identical wording and illustrations。 The gender of the main character is different, and that leads to some gendering of background items in the illustrations that I'm not a fan of (sister dresses up; brother builds with blocks)。 There are some other choices that I don't mind but do stand out--grandparents are different people in each book teaching the kids to make different things, and the clothing items they play with are different (scarves in one book, headwraps in the other)。 I like the representation, though this duo might have benefited more from being one book with less of a focus on gender。 。。。more

A cute, positive book about getting a new sibling! Very heartwarming。
