If you are looking for a book about networking and building your business， centering around all the normal avenues of networking， this is not the book for you。Chip Gaines gives us new and wonderful insight to networking by putting the emphasis on networking via relationships throughout your life that help build your character and teach you to use your ability to work hard for what you achieve。 We learn about the hard work he has done since childhood and how that influences his opinion of network If you are looking for a book about networking and building your business， centering around all the normal avenues of networking， this is not the book for you。Chip Gaines gives us new and wonderful insight to networking by putting the emphasis on networking via relationships throughout your life that help build your character and teach you to use your ability to work hard for what you achieve。 We learn about the hard work he has done since childhood and how that influences his opinion of networking。I would recommend this book， not only to Chip and Joanna Gaines fans， but to anyone trying to learn to achieve success through being a hard-working， good person and not expecting your success to just be given to you。I received a copy of this book from Thomas Publishing – W Publishing and NetGalley。 The opinions expressed are my own。 。。。more

I was a huge fan of Fixer Upper and of Chip and Joanna Gaines。 I enjoyed watching their sweet family on tv each week renovating older homes to back to greatness。 I was excited when I was offered the opportunity to listen and review Chip Gaines’ newest book， No Pain， No Gaines: The Good Stuff Doesn’t Come Easy。 Chip is such a high energy， positive person and that’s very clear throughout this book。 The main theory is not about networking， but building a network that can support you through life’s I was a huge fan of Fixer Upper and of Chip and Joanna Gaines。 I enjoyed watching their sweet family on tv each week renovating older homes to back to greatness。 I was excited when I was offered the opportunity to listen and review Chip Gaines’ newest book， No Pain， No Gaines: The Good Stuff Doesn’t Come Easy。 Chip is such a high energy， positive person and that’s very clear throughout this book。 The main theory is not about networking， but building a network that can support you through life’s trials and tribulations。 If you have a solid support network， they can help you bounce back from whatever may have happened。 This could be your romantic partner， your parents， your boss or colleagues， family friends or acquaintances。I really liked this book。 Chip has it filled with humor and solid advice as well as hysterical anecdotes and heartfelt stories。 I especially love his friend who encouraged him to run a marathon and the stories of his jeep that constantly overheated。Thanks to @chipgaines， @tlctours， and @thomasnelson for this gifted audiobook copy。 It’s available now and perfect for the fixer upper fan in your life！ 。。。more

I’ve read all the Gaines’ books with the first Magnolia Story being my favorite。 I wasn’t even going to venture into this one。 I thought the name was a little silly and I didn’t care for his first book， but this was in at my library as an audiobook so I snatched it up。 This book would be great for a young person who was struggling to find themselves。 Think of someone maybe going into the trades！ For me， I was past most of the content but did find so much of it refreshing。 I appreciate how Chip t I’ve read all the Gaines’ books with the first Magnolia Story being my favorite。 I wasn’t even going to venture into this one。 I thought the name was a little silly and I didn’t care for his first book， but this was in at my library as an audiobook so I snatched it up。 This book would be great for a young person who was struggling to find themselves。 Think of someone maybe going into the trades！ For me， I was past most of the content but did find so much of it refreshing。 I appreciate how Chip talks about his passion to win in life， his strong work ethic， （love who he attributes that to） and was especially endeared to his quest for humility。 I think that’s what most of us loved about Fixer Upper， right？ They made something so skilled look so easy。 They are incredibly talented and smart and you throw in that sense of humor and it’s a personality homerun！ I appreciate people that are lifelong learners - something Chip is proud to be。 Being a reader， that really resonated with me。 His leadership style is something to be admired， so giving this book to a young leader to read will allow it to be heard in it’s truest voice！ Enjoy！ 。。。more

I'm a huge fan of Fixer Upper， so I was excited to read this book！ It was so much more than what I thought it would be--in a good way。 We've all seen Chip as that goofy， always having fun while working guy on TV--and this book highlights his work ethic， drive and determination in ways that are so inspiring。 He's authentic， honest， and encouraging。 He clearly articulates the value of networking and making real human connections。 There are so many fun stories and anecdotes along the way--even from I'm a huge fan of Fixer Upper， so I was excited to read this book！ It was so much more than what I thought it would be--in a good way。 We've all seen Chip as that goofy， always having fun while working guy on TV--and this book highlights his work ethic， drive and determination in ways that are so inspiring。 He's authentic， honest， and encouraging。 He clearly articulates the value of networking and making real human connections。 There are so many fun stories and anecdotes along the way--even from Chip's family。 There are even handwritten "Bottom Line" messages at the end of every chapter。 My favorite was "Living true to yourself is a nonnegotiable。" （page 32）。My favorite chapter was Chapter 10--"Interactions， Not Transactions。" He stated in the beginning of the chapter because he would afraid it would upset people because he talked about the challenges of being famous， and being reduced to "that guy on TV" instead of a real human。 However，he did an excellent job of showing how we do this to so many people in our lives--reducing them down to a specific role and not seeing them as a whole， real human。This book is absolutely worth the read。 I read the physical book--but I'm sure it would be fantastic on audio as well。 Four stars！Thank you to the publisher via TLC Book Tours for my copy of this book in exchange for my honest review。View my review on my blog at https://www。palmerspageturners。com/20。。。 。。。more

Chip narrates this book and talks about building networks。 This isn’t your normal business network or typical self help book。 It is filled with personal stories， anecdotes， analogies， and even guest chapters from both Chip’s and Joanna’s families。 （The family members narrate their own chapters。） NO PAINS NO GAINES is a roadmap on building and surrounding yourself with a network of people that will help you “find and be who you were meant to be”。My Thoughts: Honestly， I’ve watched a few episodes Chip narrates this book and talks about building networks。 This isn’t your normal business network or typical self help book。 It is filled with personal stories， anecdotes， analogies， and even guest chapters from both Chip’s and Joanna’s families。 （The family members narrate their own chapters。） NO PAINS NO GAINES is a roadmap on building and surrounding yourself with a network of people that will help you “find and be who you were meant to be”。My Thoughts: Honestly， I’ve watched a few episodes of Fixer Upper when it was on while I was at the gym and bought a comforter for my daughter at Target but I had no idea the scope of the Gaines’ success。 What I’m so impressed with in this book is that as I listened， I would stop and take notes because I felt like Chip was giving out so much more than a scripted celebrity giving canned advice。Some points that really stuck to me were: the preciousness of time， that we are ALL made out of the same raw materials and that we need to find “radical connectors” not make generic connections。 This book is perfect for everyone！ Chip is authentic， entertaining and gives wise counsel on finding outside support that complement the inside genuine you！ Thanks to TLC book tours for a copy of the audiobook to listen and give my honest opinion 。。。more

I love Chip and Joanna Gaines （how can you not？）， but this book has more well-intentioned enthusiasm than Biblical depth。 It’s part memoir， part pop-psychology motivational speaking。 There’s a lot of “find yourself， be who you were meant to be， follow your passion， be fearless， believe in your power， don’t conform，” etc etc。 Some of it aligns with Biblical truth， and some of it doesn’t。 While not everything has to be explicitly “Christian” to be helpful， the problem with books like this is that I love Chip and Joanna Gaines （how can you not？）， but this book has more well-intentioned enthusiasm than Biblical depth。 It’s part memoir， part pop-psychology motivational speaking。 There’s a lot of “find yourself， be who you were meant to be， follow your passion， be fearless， believe in your power， don’t conform，” etc etc。 Some of it aligns with Biblical truth， and some of it doesn’t。 While not everything has to be explicitly “Christian” to be helpful， the problem with books like this is that if you don’t start with the anchor of “God is the one who gets to define who we are and what is best for us，” you run the risk of being tossed everywhere by your own dreams， emotions， biases， and fears。 Chip says “The only one who can help you figure out how to live life according to your terms is you。” That is an incredibly toxic message， because I’m not the one who determines the terms of reality， right， and wrong。 God is！ The message of the Bible is not “believe in yourself，” it’s “Trust in the Lord with all your heart， and don’t lean on your own understanding。 In all your ways acknowledge Him， and he will direct your paths” （Proverbs 3:5-6） I have a feeling the Gaineses agree with this， so it’s sad to see this truth absent from Chip’s latest book。 Even as well-intentioned believers， it’s possible to be deceived by worldly philosophy if we aren’t staying anchored to Christ。 This is my prayer for myself， Chip & Joanna， and for everyone who reads this book:Colossians 2:3-9 （NLT） “In Christ lie hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge。 I am telling you this so no one will deceive you with well-crafted arguments。。。And now， just as you accepted Christ Jesus as your Lord， you must continue to follow him。 Let your roots grow down into him， and let your lives be built on him。 Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught， and you will overflow with thankfulness。 Don’t let anyone capture you with empty philosophies and high-sounding nonsense that come from human thinking and from the spiritual powers of this world， rather than from Christ。 For in Christ lives all the fullness of God in a human body。” 。。。more

I liked it。 It is not quite what I expected。 I was thinking it would be more about the people in his network and what they do， which was in it， but I thought there would be a lot more of it。 It took me a long time to read。 I would read a chapter or two and then think about things in it and get sidetracked。

I loved this audiobook read by Chip Gaines。 Chip is full of wit and wisdom， and his stories are priceless。 I related to two of these chapters very deeply， and I have shared one takeaway that will have paid for the book a thousand times over- no exaggeration。 If you love the Gaines， you will love this book。

This was a quick read and kept me engaged the entire time。 I’m not quite sure what genre to put it in。 It really reads more like a memoir than a “self-help” or business book。 He makes a lot of good points and I agree with his message and the aims of the book but I’d really like to see a book that is a true business book next time from him。
