Summary

Tell the truth。 Or face the consequences。

Clue meets Riverdale in this page-turning thriller that exposes the lies five teens tell about a deadly night one year ago。

One year ago, there was a party。
At the party, someone died。
Five teens each played a part and up until now, no one has told the truth。

But tonight, the five survivors arrive at an isolated mansion in the hills, expecting to compete in a contest with a $50,000 grand prize。 Of course…some things are too good to be true。 They were each so desperate for the prize, they didn’t question the odd, rather exclusive invitation until it was too late。

Now, they realize they’ve been lured together by a person bent on revenge, a person who will stop at nothing to uncover what actually happened on that deadly night, one year ago。

Five arrived, but not all can leave。 Will the truth set them free?
Or will their lies destroy them all?

Part of me seriously loved it, parts of me couldn’t connect with it at all, but no matter what I kept going page by page。Although it wasn’t my favourite thing to read, it was a very worthwhile read and the characters are clearly well thought out, planned out and considered。

the thing is, this book could’ve been so good。 however, the plot was all over the place and the end was a complete mess。

For quite a short book - it certainly took me a while to read。 I felt as though this book dragged on quite a bit。 I felt that the main story with all the side stories were hard to follow and the characters personalities lacked。 The plot was great, though I definitely think there was more potential!

This book was different from a normal murder mystery。 Everyone should read。

Okay this book is so weird。 So full of plot holes and holes that make the narrative not make sense。 The characters feel like caricature: it doesn’t make sense for Juniper to love Ruby as a friend to that extent, but ok let’s just assume it’s true。 Parker is just crazy through and through and manipulative without any point of redemption。 Everything is really strange。 This feels like a mix between Caraval and One of Us is Lying because of the whole set up, but in a more confusing and strange manne Okay this book is so weird。 So full of plot holes and holes that make the narrative not make sense。 The characters feel like caricature: it doesn’t make sense for Juniper to love Ruby as a friend to that extent, but ok let’s just assume it’s true。 Parker is just crazy through and through and manipulative without any point of redemption。 Everything is really strange。 This feels like a mix between Caraval and One of Us is Lying because of the whole set up, but in a more confusing and strange manner。 Did I like it? I don’t know, some parts are eerie and interesting。 It requires a heavy suspending of disbelief to read it and enjoy it and I feel confused as I finished it。 。。。more

accurate rating: 3。8 stars ⭐A delighful, entretaining story with much potential。 I wish it hadn't been so packed with teenage drama and romance (just a personal opinion & preference), but the finale was quite shocking & satisfying at the same time。 The author's writing style was beautiful as well, although it sometimes confused me when used in the most tense scenes of the book。 accurate rating: 3。8 stars ⭐A delighful, entretaining story with much potential。 I wish it hadn't been so packed with teenage drama and romance (just a personal opinion & preference), but the finale was quite shocking & satisfying at the same time。 The author's writing style was beautiful as well, although it sometimes confused me when used in the most tense scenes of the book。 。。。more

With murder mystery books I have always found myself at least liking the book for its plot, whether I'm disappointed in the twist or not。 But this book is the first time I've found myself not liking a book or at least appreciating it。The characters had so much potential with their personality and backstories that going into this I thought they were going to grow really strong。 But no, they either stayed on the same level of depth or no loner made any sense。 This may be a personal preference but With murder mystery books I have always found myself at least liking the book for its plot, whether I'm disappointed in the twist or not。 But this book is the first time I've found myself not liking a book or at least appreciating it。The characters had so much potential with their personality and backstories that going into this I thought they were going to grow really strong。 But no, they either stayed on the same level of depth or no loner made any sense。 This may be a personal preference but I hated how the characters secrets were revealed。 There was no feeling of being trapped inside this mansion with no choice but to confess。 They could've left at any time very easily。The plot twist turned out to be plot twistS, there was so many of them that I'm still not 100% sure what the conclusion was。 I guess it helped make the book more confusing since it was so obvious from the start who the villain was。Overall this book was just messy。 It was a good idea to start with: 5 teens partly responsible for a classmates death are invited to a dinner that'll force them to admit what they had done。 Personally, I think it would've been better if all the characters had no idea what each other had done, making the plot twist that it was 1 of the 5 who is the 'villain' or at least the one against the main characters who I'm still not sure if we were supposed be rooting for? 1 star。 Definitely disappointed in what I thought was going to be an amazing read when I bought this off amazon。 。。。more

Ok I don’t really know what to say。 The storyline and the plot is so good, but the writing is what ruined it。 There’s barely any character introduction。 I didn’t even know when and who was talking in between chapters。 I didn’t feel connected to any of the characters, however I can’t lie on how much interesting the storyline was。 It just needed a better writing。 I liked the plot twists throughout the whole book, but as I said there were so many book writing mistakes。 It’s super not unnoticeable, Ok I don’t really know what to say。 The storyline and the plot is so good, but the writing is what ruined it。 There’s barely any character introduction。 I didn’t even know when and who was talking in between chapters。 I didn’t feel connected to any of the characters, however I can’t lie on how much interesting the storyline was。 It just needed a better writing。 I liked the plot twists throughout the whole book, but as I said there were so many book writing mistakes。 It’s super not unnoticeable, my myself being a reader for almost a decade now, I can’t ignore it。Also the title had nothing to do with the book? If you’re going to read I would check for trigger warnings too。 。。。more

This book was wild like honestly I’m so conflicted by my feelings towards this book I loved the start the character building the back stories the whole spooky mansion Cluedo set up。 It had very creepy vibes to begin with。 Then that one toxic character who you will know if you read it really annoyed me to the point I had to put the book down for a while they were just so toxic。 I couldn’t stand their whole character at all。 It made me not wanted to finish The book at all。 I thought it got bett This book was wild like honestly I’m so conflicted by my feelings towards this book I loved the start the character building the back stories the whole spooky mansion Cluedo set up。 It had very creepy vibes to begin with。 Then that one toxic character who you will know if you read it really annoyed me to the point I had to put the book down for a while they were just so toxic。 I couldn’t stand their whole character at all。 It made me not wanted to finish The book at all。 I thought it got better towards the last 100ish pages then there was many twists and turns and revaluations that had me turning the pages a lot of pretty little liars vibes which I liked。 The end I found to be sad I felt for a certain character and the plot twist was wild I didn’t see it coming until the last minute but it made sense and added to the story and I liked how it was pulled off and the direction it went in。 My feelings towards this book are very conflicted I loved it, I hated it, it made me angry, sad and just straight up confused but I’m still happy I read it as it was definitely an experience to say the least 😂 3 ⭐️s 。。。more

The reviews said the book was disappointing so I was hesitant to read it but since it had been on my tbr list for a while I decided to give it a try。 Definitely worth it in my opinion。 I loved everything! The secrets, the background stories of everyone, the different relationships between the "friends"。 To be honest I was expecting a typical someone-got-murdered-and-its-up-to-them-to-uncover-the-truth, but I thought it was much more than that。 Especially when Brianna came in。 The book was a bit The reviews said the book was disappointing so I was hesitant to read it but since it had been on my tbr list for a while I decided to give it a try。 Definitely worth it in my opinion。 I loved everything! This was a good read, but I can’t help but agree with some reviews I’m seeing。 As I was nearing the end of the book, I felt like something was missing。 I agree that the author could’ve done much more with the story especially since the premise was so interesting。 I also was disappointed with who the killer turned out to be but I will refrain from saying anymore on that as to not allude to who it is。 I think there could’ve been more suspense and more twists。 I also feel that there could’ve been m This was a good read, but I can’t help but agree with some reviews I’m seeing。 As I was nearing the end of the book, I felt like something was missing。 I agree that the author could’ve done much more with the story especially since the premise was so interesting。 I also was disappointed with who the killer turned out to be but I will refrain from saying anymore on that as to not allude to who it is。 I think there could’ve been more suspense and more twists。 I also feel that there could’ve been more done with the characters’ circus personas。 But as stated above, I think this is a good and enjoyable read。 。。。more

rating: 1。9 review: As a fan of Karen McManus I was excited to read this book because it was marketed as a similar work that is suited to the taste of her fans。 I like the way the author planned out her book — specifically the plot, how she was going to reveal the true intentions of the characters, & how they were all connected to each other some way, some how。 However, the writing style is not it for me¿ It was very drawn out & I think there were many boring details that acted as filler between rating: 1。9 review: As a fan of Karen McManus I was excited to read this book because it was marketed as a similar work that is suited to the taste of her fans。 I like the way the author planned out her book — specifically the plot, how she was going to reveal the true intentions of the characters, & how they were all connected to each other some way, some how。 However, the writing style is not it for me¿ It was very drawn out & I think there were many boring details that acted as filler between the start of the event, & the conclusion to what happened。 I wouldn’t say they were unnecessary, but I think the way it was written could have been better so that the readers wouldn’t lost interest。 The ending had a nice twist ig, but it was not satisfactory at all because it did not feel conclusive。 Wtf happened to the scapegoat? Wtf happened to the manipulative psycho? Idk man。 All I know is the other people walked out like they were going to be besties 4eva。 In a way this was disappointing to read。 !SPOILERS BELOW!Ps, also I wish Chelsea would have gone more in depth with exploring how much of a MF psycho manipulator Parker was, especially in regards to how he treated Ruby & Brett。 She could have paralleled it to how women & victims of abusive codependent relationships get treated especially in our age today。 Just saying, as I reader i got the message that he was a mf。 But it wasn’t as thoroughly explored so I didn’t *hate* *hate* him。 It was only after I finished & reflected on the book where I went “holy shit this guy really is dangerous”。 Also, ig he died? Wtf? Idk man I wish his death was more played out。 。。。more

the story was okay。 however, I did not like the mystery elements too much。

It’s very rare for me not enjoy a book especially one in the mystery genre but I didn’t enjoy this book。 I didn’t feel emotionally connected to any of the characters in this book which made all of the twists and turns feel tedious。 There were some nice sentences and some nice phrasing but I don’t recommend this book at all。

So。。。。 I'm definitely going against what most people are saying here。 I actually really enjoyed this book。 It has become so because of all the plot twist that left me squealing (yes, literally squealing) in the middle of class。 My only problem with this book was that the end was just stuff happening and I struggled to see a structure。 Aside from that, the writer's style is amazing and I loved how well developed the characters all were。 So。。。。 I'm definitely going against what most people are saying here。 I actually really enjoyed this book。 It has become so because of all the plot twist that left me squealing (yes, literally squealing) in the middle of class。 My only problem with this book was that the end was just stuff happening and I struggled to see a structure。 Aside from that, the writer's style is amazing and I loved how well developed the characters all were。 。。。more
