Ehh, it was alright。 I guess I was fooled by the book cover。 It gave off such a creepy vibe and I was expecting more detail and spooky stuff。 It had so much potential to be more。 Probably won't be reading the second or third in the series。 Ehh, it was alright。 I guess I was fooled by the book cover。 It gave off such a creepy vibe and I was expecting more detail and spooky stuff。 It had so much potential to be more。 Probably won't be reading the second or third in the series。 。。。more

I love creepy books so this one seemed right up my alley。 It had a good premise and definitely had the creepy factor early on。 However the twists were a little predictable and I wasn't real pleased with the big reveal。 It might make more sense if I were to read the rest of the books in the series, but I really wasn't into this one enough to make me really want to read the rest of them。 I love creepy books so this one seemed right up my alley。 It had a good premise and definitely had the creepy factor early on。 However the twists were a little predictable and I wasn't real pleased with the big reveal。 It might make more sense if I were to read the rest of the books in the series, but I really wasn't into this one enough to make me really want to read the rest of them。 。。。more

Although this is a book geared toward teens, I get scared easily and this book had me on the edge of my seat many times。 There were many unexpected twists and turns throughout that kept the pages turning。 The graphics made it that much more creepy。 I just ordered the rest of the series and excited to see what happens next!

Format: Audiobook。 I can honestly say that Asylum had so much potential, but fell flat on its face。 I didn't feel emotionally connected to Dan, Abby, or Jordon, so whenever conflict arose externally or internally, I was like "eh。" I felt like Jordon was the token gay character, meant only to act as a best friend for Abby and to ensure that he wasn't a threat to Dan; for me, Jordon lacked substanial character development。 I WANTED character development。 Badly。 Our narrator, Dan, just annoyed me。 Format: Audiobook。 I can honestly say that Asylum had so much potential, but fell flat on its face。 I didn't feel emotionally connected to Dan, Abby, or Jordon, so whenever conflict arose externally or internally, I was like "eh。" I felt like Jordon was the token gay character, meant only to act as a best friend for Abby and to ensure that he wasn't a threat to Dan; for me, Jordon lacked substanial character development。 I WANTED character development。 Badly。 Our narrator, Dan, just annoyed me。 I get that he had anxiety and everything that was happening at the asylum was well above his paygrade, but the writing felt forced。 Abby and Dan's relationship felt forced too, and wildly unrealistic。 If I were a senior in high school and my parents were paying for a 5-week vacation to take (fun) college-level courses, I wouldn't be thinking about romance。 I liked Abby's artistic character, but I hated that Roux fell back into the trope that "small female characters must 'feisty' or if not that, overly emotional。" And don't get me started on the ending。。。yeah, I thought something weird was going on with Felix。 I predicted the ending halfway into the novel。 There were flashes of genuinely good writing here and there, but there were so many cliches that my head spun。 Although I know "Sanctum" and "Catacomb" are avaiable at my local library, I can't see myself picking them up。 There are better fish in the sea。 。。。more

Personally I found this book relatively difficult to get through。 It was definitely weird。 I can see where it’s supposed to be a paranormal/psychological thriller/horror book, but this book made my head hurt trying to keep up with and figure out what was going on。 It wasn’t bad or uninteresting; just seemed like the writing style was a little Elemetary and “all over the place” per say。 But I don’t care for the narrative writing style either🤷🏼‍♀️。

Pretty outrageous。 Writing wasn’t great 。 But it was a fun story and I’m interested in the others

This was such an interesting book。 I've had an interest in Asylums and abandoned buildings with a past。 Asylum has such an interesting plot with likable characters。 I'm looking forward to reading the next book。 This was such an interesting book。 I've had an interest in Asylums and abandoned buildings with a past。 Asylum has such an interesting plot with likable characters。 I'm looking forward to reading the next book。 。。。more

Started reading this out of curiosity and want for a darker story。Was met with a well built and enticing plot, with quite an unorthodox set of characters that became increasingly more interesting as the pages were turned。Was not expecting the ending and this book just left me wanting for more。An interesting read and surely something I would recommend for anyone looking for a spooky mystery。

Mayed

This book was um interesting it was weird and whacky but I liked the mystery but let’s be real I saw the plot twist coming a mile away

I highly recommend this entire series。 This book keeps you sucked in and wanting more throughout every page。 I had such a hard time putting this book down, I always wanted to keep reading more。 This book is very intense and suspenseful。 it constantly keeps you on the edge of your seat。 If your a fan of Horror and Paranormal Genres then this is definitely a book for you !

Loved how the author used real places and photos of asylum patients。。。。added an element of realism that made it gloriously creepy。

Dan, Abby, and Jordan go to a college prep over the summer in New Hampshire, but the dorms are closed, forcing the students to stay in different dorms。 The dorms they stay in however, used to be a full running mental hospital。 Dan, Abby, and Jordan go exploring and find some weird things and weird connections。 The place also makes them act different and out of character。

What a great book! I love stories based in old asylums and this book by Madeleine Roux fits the bill perfectly。 With added photos making Dan Crawford's story along with Abby and Jordan's come to life in a most enjoyable way。 An excellent read and I will certainly be reading the sequel。 What a great book!

I really wanted to like this book。 I’m a fan of horror and suspense but this was neither。 The characters were too one-dimensional and the storyline was obvious。 The cover was cool and some of the photos included were spooky but that was it。 Maybe if I was much, much younger I would have enjoyed it more。

Jason Kron

The asylum photos in the book were cool, and it's not poorly written as far as descriptions go。 But there is barely any character development and it's pretty friggin boring。 The asylum photos in the book were cool, and it's not poorly written as far as descriptions go。 But there is barely any character development and it's pretty friggin boring。 。。。more

*sigh*2⭐️I just genuinely do not care Was this the worst book I’ve read? No。 Was it compelling? No。 Did I like the whole asylum idea? Yes-I really disliked the insta-love and Dans literal OBSESSION with Abby-The narrators taunting/panicking voice was single-handedly the most annoying thing I have ever heard

Melody

I like it so far!!!😍😎

I was worried this was going to have an obvious ending but it did not。 I just ordered the rest of the series!
