Summary

For a merry widow and a stoic major, it’s a bumpy road to love…

Adjusting to life in peacetime isn’t easy for Major Duncan McCameron。 Escorting a lady on her journey north seems like the perfect chance to give him some much-needed purpose。 That is, until he learns the woman in question is the beautiful, bold, reckless Lady Farris。 She makes his head spin and being alone together will surely end in disaster。

Beatrice, the Dowager Countess of Farris, is finally free of a stifling marriage and she has no plans to shackle herself to any other man。 Ready to live life to the fullest, she’s headed to a week-long bacchanal and the journey should be half the fun。 Except she’s confined to a carriage with a young, rule-abiding, irritatingly handsome Scottish soldier who wouldn’t know a good time if it landed in his lap。 But maybe a madcap escapade will loosen him up。。。

Between carriage crashes, secret barn dances, robbers, and an inn with only one bed, their initial tension dissolves into a passion that neither expected。 But is there a future for an adventure-loving lady and a duty-bound soldier, or will their differences tear them apart?

This book was a gorgeous, delightful romp from start to finish! I loved the opposites-attract pairing of staid younger soldier Duncan and sassy older widow Beatrice。 She couldn't help but push his orderly, spit-shined buttons, and he couldn't help but love every minute of it。 True, everything that could possibly go wrong on their road trip did, but I wouldn't dare complain since it led to so many situations where Duncan got to show off his many admirable skill sets。My favorite one? He's excellent at using his bossy words。It was so unexpected coming from him, and it neatly turned their established power dynamic on its head, and that made it all the more enjoyable for me。Can't wait to backtrack and read the first two books in this series!Reasons I enjoyed this book:Entertaining; Happily Ever After; Original; Romantic; Steamy; Witty; Wonderful characters 。。。more

Older woman who finally gets to partake of life's every pleasure ends up traveling with stoic, regimented man。 Their adventures were fun, but the "will they end up together" was too drawn out。 Historical accuracy? Totally lost interest 75 percent of the way through, skipped to the end to read the last two chapters, couldn't be bothered with the epilogue。 Totally lost interest 75 percent of the way through, skipped to the end to read the last two chapters, couldn't be bothered with the epilogue。 。。。more

I have read the other 2 books, in this series, but Waiting For A Scot Like You, is my favorite。 In the beginning, Beatrice and Duncan seemed at odds with each other; but as the story progressed, they became closer。 But Duncan was still a solider, at heart, a solider who followed rules。 I would defiantly read this story, again。 I really enjoyed the love scenes between Duncan and Beatrice。 They were so made for each other。

Andrea (Hammock and Read)

These two are on a wild adventure for her crazy adventure, he will do anything to keep her safe。 The chemistry is flying but all things that can go wrong does。 Beatrice is free from her bad marriage and Duncan is trying to figure life back after years in the military。 Loved how they learned to work together with all the issues over the trip。 Loved the age gap of the older lady! Really liking this series!4 stars!

Hearing the word orgy said in a Scottish accent made me giggle in the car。 This audiobook provided by Libro FM was the perfect road trip listen--kept me entertained and smiling the whole time! Just what I expected from an Avon historical fiction title--sexy!

3。7 star。 Characters are rather likable, but somehow, despite many adventures book is drudging。 It's not a bad book, but for me, it lacks sparkle。 3。7 star。 Characters are rather likable, but somehow, despite many adventures book is drudging。 It's not a bad book, but for me, it lacks sparkle。 。。。more

A delightful, adventurous conclusion to Leigh's Union of the Rakes series, which solidifies that she's become a must-buy author for me in the realm of historical romance。 This one was a wild ride from start to finish, and I've always enjoyed a road trip romance (especially in historicals, where usually it all takes place in carriages and other older forms of transportation), but these two characters dealt with constant trials that only made their journey more thrilling and unpredictable, and I l A delightful, adventurous conclusion to Leigh's Union of the Rakes series, which solidifies that she's become a must-buy author for me in the realm of historical romance。 This one was a wild ride from start to finish, and I've always enjoyed a road trip romance (especially in historicals, where usually it all takes place in carriages and other older forms of transportation), but these two characters dealt with constant trials that only made their journey more thrilling and unpredictable, and I loved the nods to several classic 80s comedies, like Ferris Bueller and Footloose。 McCameron and Beatrice are a pitch-perfect example of opposites attracting, the by-the-book soldier versus the free-spirited widow, and it was also great to see how their personality differences manifested in the bedroom (including some surprising but equally welcome D/s play!)。 Also appreciated that their HEA didn't include a marriage, for reasons that are completely valid for these two characters in particular! I'm a little sad to say goodbye to this series and this group of friends, but it was a wonderful journey and I'll have to revisit these books later on sometime。 (As well as buy hard copies, because THESE COVERS。)I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley。 All thoughts and opinions are my own。 。。。more

It's so rare to read a historical romance that actually surprises me, but Waiting For a Scot Like You did it。 I was unsure if I'd like it as I haven't read very many convincing May-December romances, especially when the woman is December。 But wow。 And happy sigh。 I loved Beatrice。 She was unapologetically herself, while still being gentle of others, even when things got sticky towards the end。 As an older reader, I understood where she was coming from, and I just wanted to give her a fist bump f It's so rare to read a historical romance that actually surprises me, but Waiting For a Scot Like You did it。 I was unsure if I'd like it as I haven't read very many convincing May-December romances, especially when the woman is December。 But wow。 And happy sigh。 I loved Beatrice。 She was unapologetically herself, while still being gentle of others, even when things got sticky towards the end。 As an older reader, I understood where she was coming from, and I just wanted to give her a fist bump for realizing it was never too late to be yourself (and then advise her to snag Duncan and not let go because--dear Lord, woman--yum)。 If I loved Beatrice, I loved loved loved Duncan。 He was just so freaking adorable and a perfect blend of warrior, lover, and mush pot。 The two were perfection together, and reading about their adventures and discoveries was simply delicious (and sometimes heartbreaking) fun。Yes, the relationships described in this book are perhaps more reflective of what is considered acceptable (some barely) today, but I think you could argue that any historical romance requires some checking reality at the door。 On the flip side, a book free of romance tropes is a breath of fresh air。So, good for you Eva Leigh, and good for readers too。 。。。more

This was a let down after #2 in the series。 I was genuinely invested in every element of that story, but here I felt like I was grasping for anything interesting。 I was intrigued by the interactions McCameron and Beatrice had in the previous book, but the 'antagonism' of the beginning never really clicked and then they started to get along well enough fairly soon。 I never got invested in their personal growth or growth as a couple which was such a bummer! And then the back half was such a random This was a let down after #2 in the series。 I was genuinely invested in every element of that story, but here I felt like I was grasping for anything interesting。 I was intrigued by the interactions McCameron and Beatrice had in the previous book, but the 'antagonism' of the beginning never really clicked and then they started to get along well enough fairly soon。 I never got invested in their personal growth or growth as a couple which was such a bummer! And then the back half was such a random hodge podge I nearly threw my hands up in surrender。 The town from Footloose? I normally enjoy Eva Leigh books but this just felt like Porn Without Plot。 A few misadventures thrown in for something to break up the very detailed, very vocal sex。Just not for me。

I am conflicted with this book。 I thought it would be my favorite out of the series, but it was my least favorite。 The romantic scenes were incredible。 And I loved the hero。 I thought I would like the heroine more but I did not。

*3。5 stars*The more I sat on my review of Waiting for a Scot Like You by Eva Leigh, the more I ended up liking the story。 Sometimes, you need to let these kinds of things marinate to discover your true feelings。 I can't help be enthralled at a huge age gap between the MCs and the woman is older。 That is so exceedingly rare in romance, especially historical romance, that it's absolutely worth noting。 I loved how the female MC reveled in her newfound sexuality, and how she was wiling to explore th *3。5 stars*The more I sat on my review of Waiting for a Scot Like You by Eva Leigh, the more I ended up liking the story。 Sometimes, you need to let these kinds of things marinate to discover your true feelings。 I can't help be enthralled at a huge age gap between the MCs and the woman is older。 That is so exceedingly rare in romance, especially historical romance, that it's absolutely worth noting。 I loved how the female MC reveled in her newfound sexuality, and how she was wiling to explore those feelings to the fullest。 I also enjoyed the more uptight male MC, though I feel like his portrayal wavered a bit too much over time。 For someone practically obsessed with propriety, he really changed a lot during the course of the story。 I did feel a bit bad for him because I felt like he was the one making all of the sacrifices for the relationship, but I felt the chemistry between him and the female MC in the end。 I really liked all of the outlandish adventures these two found themselves in, and I really liked the heat content。 I think the plot grew a bit tedious over time and I felt my attention start to waver, though the humor kept me going。 Overall, it was a fun story。 I think Waiting for a Scot Like You has a lot of positive aspects, even if I wasn't fully rooting for this couple the whole time。 Still, the book was a strong addition to the Union of the Rakes series。 *Copy provided in exchange for an honest review*goodreads|instagram|twitter|blog 。。。more

This is one of the best Regency romances that I have read for a long time。 I was starting to think that perhaps I should move on to another genre, as most of the books I have been reading recently have failed to arouse that certain feeling I get while reading a satisfying book。 But this book brought it back, woohoo!!Of course, it's not perfect。 The heroine does seem a little too modern for the times, and the language can be a little more colourful than usual。 However these in no way overshadow t This is one of the best Regency romances that I have read for a long time。 I was starting to think that perhaps I should move on to another genre, as most of the books I have been reading recently have failed to arouse that certain feeling I get while reading a satisfying book。 But this book brought it back, woohoo!!Of course, it's not perfect。 The heroine does seem a little too modern for the times, and the language can be a little more colourful than usual。 However these in no way overshadow the great writing, wonderful characters and enjoyable plot。 It is so nice to see a rather mature heroine, with a sensible outlook。 I also have a soft spot for the hero, a sensitive ex-soldier who always tries to do the right thing。 And the chemistry between the two - flaming hot!! This is my first book by this author, and I am definitely going to read more! 。。。more

This was such a fun time! Just like with the previous book in this series, I loved the references to 80’s romcom films and the sex scenes are SO hot 🔥🔥🔥。I really enjoyed seeing Duncan, a younger man and a grump, fall for Beatrice, an older widow (she’s twelve years older than him) who’s determined to live her life to the fullest。 Duncan is also a Dom, and like I said, the sex scenes between these two characters were just so freaking good。 Eva Leigh knows what she’s doing with writing smut。 I LOV This was such a fun time! I liked her mindset and how she wanted to experience everything she could。 He was able to release some of his should dos when he was with her。 It was nice to see an older woman celebrated and adored。 Some of the scenarios along the road trip seemed to last too long。

This book was a 5 star for me。。。up until 70%。 I still liked it, dont get me wrong。 BUT。。。How many things can happen to two people? It just gets unbelievable after a while。 Lets walk, now we tripped over a rock, now we stepped in a hole, now we are mugged, guess what? its raining, oops, now snowing。 Standing in the snow, stranded in the middle of nowhere, and here are my friends with transportation!
