Summary

Claudia and her sister, Janine, may as well be from two different planets。 Claudia, who pays more attention to her artwork and The Baby-sitters Club than her homework, feels like she can't compete with her perfect sister。 Janine studies nonstop, gets straight As, and even takes college-level courses! But when something unexpected happens to the most beloved person in their family, will the sisters be able to put aside their differences?

Raina Telgemeier, using the signature style featured in her acclaimed graphic novels Smile and Sisters, perfectly captures all the drama and charm of the original novel!

I cannot believe that in the almost 10 years I've been using Goodreads, I've not reread this book to rate it。 Especially when I had reread the first three books back in 2015 when they were rereleased in colour。 What, I got Claudia and Mean Janine and just didn't read it? Not cool, Past Ashley。 Another great graphic novel by Raina Telgemeier, and another amazing BSC adaptation。 Similar to how parts of Stacey's Book were added to The Truth About Stacey, the scene where Kristy and Dawn play i I cannot believe that in the almost 10 years I've been using Goodreads, I've not reread this book to rate it。 Especially when I had reread the first three books back in 2015 when they were rereleased in colour。 What, I got Claudia and Mean Janine and just didn't read it? Not cool, Past Ashley。 Another great graphic novel by Raina Telgemeier, and another amazing BSC adaptation。 Similar to how parts of Stacey's Book were added to The Truth About Stacey, the scene where Kristy and Dawn play in the barn were taken from Dawn and the Impossible Three。 (Which would funnily enough become a graphic novel itself almost a decade later!) I also liked the inclusion of Mallory, and the talk of adding her to the club。 (That was a great scene - "I know a certain big sister。。。" and Claudia pictured Janine lol。 It fit perfectly in the story!) It's interesting to think that this was originally the end of the series, how on brand for the BSC to be more popular than the four books originally written! Also, a little BSC bragging time: Dawn's notebook entry on page 40 (of the full-colour paperback release)? That's my handwriting。 Raina and I became friendly because of the BSC, and she emailed me and asked if I would like to "be" Dawn in the last graphic novel。 My name is even mentioned in the dedication page! It's my BSC claim to fame。 (I know I'm four years too late, but any future BSC graphic novelists: you need handwriting for Dawn? Call me!) 。。。more

God, I love this series so much。 No matter how many times I read it。I'd never particularly been interested in the Babysitters Club novels as a child, though I did know what the general plot was about。 When these graphic novel versions of the books came out, however, it was love at first sight, with me devouring the first four books as soon as I could get them from the library。 Raina Telgemeier's illustrations are really what made these graphic novels so memorable; I can still picture sections of God, I love this series so much。 No matter how many times I read it。I'd never particularly been interested in the Babysitters Club novels as a child, though I did know what the general plot was about。 When these graphic novel versions of the books came out, however, it was love at first sight, with me devouring the first four books as soon as I could get them from the library。 Raina Telgemeier's illustrations are really what made these graphic novels so memorable; I can still picture sections of the books in my mind quite vividly。 These books are a childhood staple of mine and after buying them for myself quite recently, I've re-read them multiple times already and will continue to do in the future。 Love, love, love。Note: This series review is only for the first four books illustrated by Raina Telgemeier。 。。。more

This is Raina Telgemeier's adaptation of one of the original Baby-Sitters Club novels by Ann M。 Martin。 I haven't red any of the original prose series, but this was a good solid bit of family drama with humor and heart。 It doesn't quite hit at the personal level that Telgemeier's autobiographical works do, but it was still quite engaging。 Although this is the fourth volume in the series, it stands alone quite well and tells a complete story。That story focuses on the sibling rivalry between young This is Raina Telgemeier's adaptation of one of the original Baby-Sitters Club novels by Ann M。 Martin。 I haven't red any of the original prose series, but this was a good solid bit of family drama with humor and heart。 It doesn't quite hit at the personal level that Telgemeier's autobiographical works do, but it was still quite engaging。 Although this is the fourth volume in the series, it stands alone quite well and tells a complete story。That story focuses on the sibling rivalry between younger sister Claudia, who is into art, fashion, and Nancy Drew novels, and older sister Janine, who excels at school and loves coding and web design。 Their lives are thrown into disarray when their grandmother suffers a near-fatal stroke, and the events that follow bring them apart, and then eventually together。 Meanwhile, the Baby-Sitters club launches into summer with a new playgroup project that gives the other club members a chance to shine, and provides some comic relief。Telgemeier's artwork is always wonderfully expressive, and it really shines in a lovely scene with Dawn and Kristy playing in the barn on Kristy's family's property, as well as in some nice quiet moments between Claudia, Janine, and their grandmother, Mimi。 。。。more

This has been my favorite one so far。 Claudia’s grandmother has a stroke and Claudia’s family has to deal with the new changes and family dynamics。 The BSC faces new challenges with their day club and troublesome kids。

I always wanted to me like Claudia when I was younger。 I loved her artistic style, and how she always had candy in her room。 I still want to be like Claudia, in a way。

Claudia and mean Janine is about Claudia and her sister。 Although in this book Mimi Claudia's Grandmother has a stroke and poor Claudia thinks its all her fault。 Claudia and mean Janine is about Claudia and her sister。 Although in this book Mimi Claudia's Grandmother has a stroke and poor Claudia thinks its all her fault。 。。。more

I like how Claudia learned to find ways to have fun with her sister even though they don't always get along。 They liked doing math together and playing games。 I'm glad Mimi was better at the end。 I like how Claudia learned to find ways to have fun with her sister even though they don't always get along。 They liked doing math together and playing games。 I'm glad Mimi was better at the end。 。。。more

I love these books。 In this, Mimi falls poorly and Claudia blames herself。 She finds her relationship with her sister a struggle and they have to find their way through Mimi’s illness and trying to understand each other。 This is such a great series! Lush messages。

Four nostalgic stars。 Read the children’s novels when I was in elementary school。 The series translates to graphic novel well。

Brandy

I really liked this one。 I think the book did well featuring a family member overcoming a stroke。 I enjoyed the lack of drama and Kristy's ego in this book。 I really liked this one。 I think the book did well featuring a family member overcoming a stroke。 I enjoyed the lack of drama and Kristy's ego in this book。 。。。more

Good age-appropriate portrayal of tough things like aphasia (heh, relatable) and scenes of occupational/speech/physical therapies at home after a family member has a neurological event。 Reading this was also revisiting childhood memories, BSC nostalgia in a cute graphic novel format。 I liked it。

I think it was pretty good

I'm following this series since the first book。 Raina, very talented author who deliver good message thru her books。 This book deliver a lot of messages about how important being close to a family, friendship, being able to tolerate with each other and how to deal with tantrum of younger kids。 I love this book, because it capture the real scenarios in our real life。 I'm following this series since the first book。 Raina, very talented author who deliver good message thru her books。 This book deliver a lot of messages about how important being close to a family, friendship, being able to tolerate with each other and how to deal with tantrum of younger kids。 I love this book, because it capture the real scenarios in our real life。 。。。more

It's hard to live up to your perfect older sister。 However, Claudia has her own special talents but all of her family except Mimi do not recognize them。 There are some hard lessons between the sisters and they learn to be more accepting of one another。 The perk of this is seeing all the Nancy Drew references。 Claudia LOVES Nancy Drew。 In fact, it's the only thing she will read, with the disapproval 😲🤯😡 of her parents。 As far I'm concerned, Nancy Drew is the best stuff to read for girls her age s It's hard to live up to your perfect older sister。 However, Claudia has her own special talents but all of her family except Mimi do not recognize them。 There are some hard lessons between the sisters and they learn to be more accepting of one another。 The perk of this is seeing all the Nancy Drew references。 Claudia LOVES Nancy Drew。 In fact, it's the only thing she will read, with the disapproval 😲🤯😡 of her parents。 As far I'm concerned, Nancy Drew is the best stuff to read for girls her age so high fives to Claudia!
