Summary

In the shocking finale to the bestselling series that began with Stalking Jack the Ripper, Audrey Rose and Thomas are on the hunt for the depraved, elusive killer known as the White City Devil。 A deadly game of cat-and-mouse has them fighting to stay one step ahead of the brilliant serial killer---or see their fateful romance cut short by unspeakable tragedy。

Audrey Rose Wadsworth and Thomas Cresswell have landed in America, a bold, brash land unlike the genteel streets of London they knew。 But like London, the city of Chicago hides its dark secrets well。 When the two attend the spectacular World's Fair, they find the once-in-a-lifetime event tainted with reports of missing people and unsolved murders。

Determined to help, Audrey Rose and Thomas begin their investigations, only to find themselves facing a serial killer unlike any they've heard of before。 Identifying him is one thing, but capturing him---and getting dangerously lost in the infamous Murder Hotel he constructed as a terrifying torture device---is another。

Will Audrey Rose and Thomas see their last mystery to the end---together and in love---or will their fortunes finally run out when their most depraved adversary makes one final, devastating kill?

This is a very solid series and I enjoyed it a lot! My favourite book in the series is #2, hunting Prince Dracula。 I highly recommend this series as I enjoyed the romance, the historical aspect and the mystery。

This was a trainwreck。 Maybe if I hadn't been so familiar with the Chicago World Fair and H。H。 Holmes I would have enjoyed this more。 Who knows? But as it stands, this is the most historically inaccurate book I have read to date。 It was a very frustrating read for me。 This was a trainwreck。 Maybe if I hadn't been so familiar with the Chicago World Fair and H。H。 Holmes I would have enjoyed this more。 Who knows? Gorgeous novel, wrapped up in a thrilling and emotional conclusion to the series。 My favourite of the series, in both the moments and character development。 The ending is beyond satisfying and had me on the edge of my seat, feeling electric of what was next to come。

okay, so while i did enjoy this, it wasn’t exactly what i expected。 basically the first half of this book (like the first 200 pages) reads like a romantic drama。 there’s very little of the mystery, or investigating that we get in the previous books。 it’s all romance and drama and angst between audrey rose and thomas, and their relationship。 now i LOVE audrey rose and thomas so much, but i didn’t really need 200 pages of them going back and forth declaring their love for each other with very litt okay, so while i did enjoy this, it wasn’t exactly what i expected。 basically the first half of this book (like the first 200 pages) reads like a romantic drama。 there’s very little of the mystery, or investigating that we get in the previous books。 it’s all romance and drama and angst between audrey rose and thomas, and their relationship。 now i LOVE audrey rose and thomas so much, but i didn’t really need 200 pages of them going back and forth declaring their love for each other with very little plot besides that。 it’s not that it was bad, it was just not what i was expecting。 this book seemed to lack the strong mystery plot of the previous books that i loved so much。 i missed audrey rose and thomas investigating, and performing autopsies, and inspecting crime scenes, and all their banter while throwing around theories of the crimes。 so while i definitely still love the series and the characters to death, this book did let me down a tiny bit。 。。。more

All I'm asking for is a Mephistopheles spin-off series。I thought this was a good conclusion overall! While some points were weaker and some were stronger, I still like the way things panned out。 Personally, I thought the ending was on the weaker side with there being no twist or shock whatsoever。 I don't know what it is with Maniscalco; she just loves giving away the killer。 With that being said, I was mostly reading this for Audrey Rose and Thomas' relationship and they most certainly served in All I'm asking for is a Mephistopheles spin-off series。I thought this was a good conclusion overall! It's been established that he's on the older, weaker side in the first book, so after being poisoned he probably would have died。 I mean, Thomas was really weak and we know he's young and fit (thanks to fencing ooo la la), so how did an old man survive? I think one character death, such as Uncle who meant a lot to the story, would have created the most perfectly bittersweet ending。 Maybe not。 I don't know。 Just something I'm thinking about。 。。。more

Love and murder, what more could you ask for! I love the whole series and am sad that it has come to an end。 I do wish that there was a bit less of them cheesily declaring their undyling love for each other and more about them chasing down the murderer。 But, I understand why it happened and why this book is so much more romance based。 Although I kinda wish we had a little bit more of a murderous side I。e them searching for the murderer etc as it just came to a close a little too easily。 That’s j Love and murder, what more could you ask for! This book was so much better than I expected!! The romance was amazing, and the plot was very good。 These are my all time favourite characters and couple。 Out of 10 it would be a 9。5 but out of 5 it is。 5/5

I’ll give it another 0。5 star since it was the last book in the series。 I was just a little disappointed with the mystery aspect, but I will forever be a thomas stan。

I felt like I was back in Victorian London and 1800s New York。 The treatment of immigrants and women were appalling。 And Kerri did a great job bringing that to the story。 I just wish the romance drama hadn't been added to the story。 It was just completely unnecessary。 。。。more

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 There was a lot going on in this one。 With the love interest and with the cases。 Wasn’t my favorite。 Just because I’d like things be about a new case, rather then bringing things about Jack the Ripper again。 Especially, sense we know in history that those two cases aren’t by the same person。 I’m glad that the series is over。 That things came to a close。 I just wish things ended better。

3。5 stars。 My main issue with this book was the middle conflict。 It sprung from NOWHERE。 There was no real foreshadowing to it happening。。。 and it really took me out of the story for how much it didn’t make sense。It got better toward the end。 How that middle conflict got resolved was ridiculous。 But the mystery kept me engaged enough to finish the book。 I am happy for Audrey Rose and Thomas, though I believe they should of just had their ending without all the drama。
