Summary

Letting Go describes a simple and effective means by which to let go of the obstacles to Enlightenment and become free of negativity。 During the many decades of the author’s clinical psychiatric practice, the primary aim was to seek the most effective ways to relieve human suffering in all of its many forms。 The inner mechanism of surrender was found to be of great practical benefit and is described in this book。     Dr。 Hawkins’s previous books focused on advanced states of awareness and Enlightenment。 Over the years, thousands of students had asked for a practical technique by which to remove the inner blocks to happiness, love, joy, success, health, and, ultimately, Enlightenment。 This book provides a mechanism for letting go of those blocks。     The mechanism of surrender that Dr。 Hawkins describes can be done in the midst of everyday life。 The book is equally useful for all dimensions of human life: physical health, creativity, financial success, emotional healing, vocational fulfillment, relationships, sexuality, and spiritual growth。     It is an invaluable resource for all professionals who work in the areas of mental health, psychology, medicine, self-help, addiction recovery, and spiritual development。

。。more

Super interesting book about letting go as the name suggests but also about letting individuals be。 It talks about a lot of different things like emotions and depression and grief and fear and desire and anger and pride and courage and acceptance and love and peace。 So it covers lots of different parts of humanity。 I was quite impressed with it and it gave lots of hints and tips on how to manage yourself emotionally and spiritually but also how to manage some of the relationships that you're in Super interesting book about letting go as the name suggests but also about letting individuals be。 It talks about a lot of different things like emotions and depression and grief and fear and desire and anger and pride and courage and acceptance and love and peace。 So it covers lots of different parts of humanity。 I was quite impressed with it and it gave lots of hints and tips on how to manage yourself emotionally and spiritually but also how to manage some of the relationships that you're in also:Here are some of the best bits from the book:Expressing oneself is now in vogue as a result of the misunderstanding of the work of Sigmund Freud and psychoanalysis。 Freud pointed out that suppression was the cause of neurosis: therefore, expression was mistakenly thought to be the cure。 This misinterpretation became a license for self-indulgence at the cost of others。 What Freud actually said in classic psychoanalysis, was that the repressed impulse or feeling was to be neutralized, sublimated, socialized and channeled into constructive drives of love work and creativity。 The gray la violette scientific theory integrates psychology and neurophysiology。 Their research demonstrated that feeling tones organized thoughts and memory。 negative feeling instantly causes a loss of 50% of the body's muscle strength and also narrows our vision both physically and mentally。 Stress is our emotional reaction to a precipitating factor or stimulus。 Stress is determined by our belief systems and their associated emotional pressures。 It is not the external stimulus then that is the cause of stress but our degree of reactivity。The fearful person precipitates frightening experiences: the angry person becomes surrounded by infuriating circumstances: and the prideful person is constantly being insulted。 And Jesus Christ said: why do you see the splinter which is in your brother's eye, and do not feel the beam which is in your own eye?She joined a conscious raising feminist group she said。 She described this particular group as almost completely made up of divorced women who are bitter, angry and hateful of men。 As a group they were getting lots of payoff from their negativity。 In reality their lives were forlorn and rather pathetic, as they struggle to regain their self-esteem through extremes and marked emotional imbalance。God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference。That is a higher vibration, such as love, has a healing effect on a lower vibration, such as that in the patient's case, fear。 This love is the mechanism of reassurance, and very often we can quiet another persons fears by our mere physical presence and by the loving energy that we project to them and with which we surround them。 It is not what we say but the very fact of our presence that has the healing effect。The average human he said would much rather project his shadow onto the world and condemn it and see it as evil, thinking that his problem is to battle with evil in the world。 In actuality, the problem is merely to acknowledge the presence of such thoughts and impulses in ourselves。Defensiveness invites attack。 This is the safety of the open mind position or what is called beginners mind in Zen practice。 When we are open minded, we are admitting that we are not in possession of all the facts and we are ready to change our opinion as the situation unfolds。The more inwardly powerful we really are the more flexible we become so that we are open to all that is beneficial。 Pride prevents us from seeing that which is totally obvious。 People die by the thousands because of pride。 They literally give up their health and life itself。 Addicts and Alcoholics will go to their death because of the denial inherent in pride: other people have the problem: not me。 Pride prevents us from recognizing our own limitations and accepting the help we need to work overcome them。 Our pridefulness isolates us。We know that it takes courage to face fear。 We champion the people who face their fear and attempt to do something about it。 Such courage is one of the characteristics of nobility and makes a person truly great。When we are in a state of acceptance, we love our friends instead of being critical and we are willing to love them in spite of their limitations which we willingly overlook。 The way people appear to us from this space is that everyone is actually doing the best they can with what they have at that moment。 We see that all of life is evolving towards its perfection and we are In Sync with the laws of the universe and consciousness。On this level we may begin to develop an interest in the philosophy, scientific research and spiritual classics that explore the highest potential of human mind and spirit。 Or it becomes increasingly important is what we are becoming not what we have or do。Love facilitates healing。 It transforms life。 We see this in the true story about a duck Hunter who was suddenly changed by witnessing an act of love。 One day he was out duck hunting which he often did for recreation。 As per usual he saw a duck flying , he shot it, and watched it fall to the ground badly injured。 To his sudden amazement he watched as the female mate of the injured duck immediately flew down on top of her companion and spread her wings over him to shelter him。 Seeing her love the heart of a Hunter was changed: he never hunted again 。Seemed like a stranger vanity to have once believed that there had been a small self as the author of the body's actions。 In reality the body was at the effect of the universe, and there had never been a doer of its actions。 Phenomena were as vibrations of the mind that had no separate existence or reality。 There was oneness only。 Only that oneness actually existed。Our feelings and thoughts always have an effect on other persons and affect our relationships whether these thoughts or feelings are verbalised expressed or not。The only way to get over this initial paranoia is to clean up our own act。 Finding out what needs to be cleaned up is simple and easy。 Just look at what you would not want others to know about you and begin to surrender it。The way out is to look at the worst possible scenario and look at the feelings they arouse and begin to relinquish them。 。。。more

So every single moment is dissolving as it arises。 Let go of anticipating the next moment, trying to control it, trying to hang on to the moment that has just passed。 Let go clinging to what has just occurred。 Let go trying to control what you think is about to occur。 Then you live in an infinite space of non-time and non-event。 There is an infinite peace beyond description。 And you are home。

This book has some good thoughts on psychology, philosophy (including stoicism fought framework) and even good messages to take with you for life。 But if you’re looking for those only please don’t even start reading it ⛔️On the other hand is the largest heresy that I’ve ever read on the scientific method (eg: if you can’t replicate the experiment is because your “””energy level””” is too low, either by being an atheist, seen an advertisement, listening to heavy metal music or rap, etc 🤓🤢) All th This book has some good thoughts on psychology, philosophy (including stoicism fought framework) and even good messages to take with you for life。 But if you’re looking for those only please don’t even start reading it ⛔️On the other hand is the largest heresy that I’ve ever read on the scientific method (eg: if you can’t replicate the experiment is because your “””energy level””” is too low, either by being an atheist, seen an advertisement, listening to heavy metal music or rap, etc 🤓🤢) All the pseudo science with buzz words like quantum mechanics just remembers me the secret book, borderline scam pitch, oblivious of the scientific method, and what means to prove or disprove something, etc。 It’s almost offensive to the some good thoughts and messages that are scattered trough the book, lost in the middle of pseudo new age “””””””””science””””””” you’ll get everything from Dragon Ball like “vibration power” measurement, auras, chakras all the BS you find in the empty self help books that look not to improve people but to support delusional beliefs that there’s something wrong with you, and you just need to completely turn off your brain believe superpowers and you’ll then be happy。 。。。more

Took me a while to get through this。 And am still not fully through it。 In fact, this is gonna be a book I often refer to。 I bought a physical copy of this book today。 I’ve experienced a lot of “letting go” moments in the last few years。 I find everything he discusses in the book go be reasonable and possible。 But I still ask myself the question, so how do I actually surrender。 How do I actually let go?

While this book does have some interesting ideas on positivity and influence, there's an unusual balance between the psychological and the spiritual that I think people will find the book to be like marmite, you love it or you hate it。 While I was incredibly sceptical for a lot of it, it was an interesting read (listen) on someone else's opinion towards peace and enlightenment, but I do believe that the realism evolves into the fantastical as the book proceeds which wasn't my cup of tea。 While this book does have some interesting ideas on positivity and influence, there's an unusual balance between the psychological and the spiritual that I think people will find the book to be like marmite, you love it or you hate it。 While I was incredibly sceptical for a lot of it, it was an interesting read (listen) on someone else's opinion towards peace and enlightenment, but I do believe that the realism evolves into the fantastical as the book proceeds which wasn't my cup of tea。 。。。more

Definitely think there's a lot of good material here and some good examples that anyone can relate to。 However, there is a lot of fake sounding anecdotes and talk about "vibrations and energy"。 Overall, just keep your critical lens on, but really be open minded about the idea of choosing to experience your emotions and the focus of choosing how you react to all the bad stuff that life can throw in your face。 Definitely think there's a lot of good material here and some good examples that anyone can relate to。 However, there is a lot of fake sounding anecdotes and talk about "vibrations and energy"。 Overall, just keep your critical lens on, but really be open minded about the idea of choosing to experience your emotions and the focus of choosing how you react to all the bad stuff that life can throw in your face。 。。。more
