Summary

NEMESIS [n]
1) A long-standing rival; an arch-enemy
2) A person's undoing
3) Joshua Templeman

Lucy Hutton, baker-of-cakes, exemplary assistant and professional 'nice girl', is waging war。 She's got the whole office on her side - except for tall, dark and charmless Joshua Templeman。 He's been nothing but hostile since the moment they met and now it feels like nothing matters as much as taking him down。

Trapped together under the fluorescent lights, they become entrenched in an addictive rivalry。 There's the Staring Game, The Mirror Game, The HR Game。 Lucy can't let Joshua beat her at anything, especially when a huge promotion comes up for grabs。

Finally she's going to destroy the man she can't seem to get out of her office, the man she hates, the man who's taking up far too much space in her head。 If Lucy wins, she'll be Joshua's boss。 If she loses, she'll resign。 The race is on - but the real games have only just begun 。 。 。

4。5 stars!this was so fun and just so cute。 the banter between lucy and josh was top tier! i was nervous this was going to be overhyped, but this book definitely deserves the hype。

It really is a book with good narrative and writing。 At first I thought it was going to be a story a little deeper, but really in the end the only thing I thought was YOU ARE FUCKING ME, they literally finished the book in 15 pages, to the super badly done, no real depth was given to any of the characters, neither has their relationship and gave a pretty bad outcome, in other words they murdered the book at the end。

If you want a slow burn enemies to lovers this is not for you。

3。5 stars? I expected more, and I think it's mainly because I've read sooo many enemies-to-lovers stories and this one just didn't stand out。 Maybe I'll have more thoughts on this later。 3。5 stars? Listened to on audio。 I’m pretty torn about this rating because I did enjoy this book overall and there were a lot of things that were great about it。 Namely the workplace setting and the super slow burn。But there were two aspects that really annoyed me。 First, the constant fixation on the difference in size between the two main characters。 And second, the toxic masculinity and emotional coddling of men in this story。 Neither of those things ruined it for me and I did still enjoy the experience Listened to on audio。 I’m pretty torn about this rating because I did enjoy this book overall and there were a lot of things that were great about it。 Namely the workplace setting and the super slow burn。But there were two aspects that really annoyed me。 First, the constant fixation on the difference in size between the two main characters。 And second, the toxic masculinity and emotional coddling of men in this story。 Neither of those things ruined it for me and I did still enjoy the experience of reading it, but they probably knocked it down a star。 。。。more

I did not like this book in the beginning, but it grew on me。 I almost stopped reading it because the characters were too immature for my liking but the second half of the book more than makes up for the first half。

I am sorry。 One day I will like cringey romance novels。 One day。

I loved, loved this book。 I couldn’t stop reading it。 Any chance I had, I would pick it up even if it was for a few pages。 The one thing I found intriguing was the competitive nature between Lucy and Josh。 Lucy trying to figure out what Josh was up to and Josh trying figure out what Lucy was up to。 It was hilarious at times while being heartfelt at other times。 Always wondering what was going to happen next。

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 *4 1/2 A bit of a slow start and not my usual genre but I still loved it! It has all the tropes that booktok loves and once you got into the story it gave you everything you wanted。 Josh and Lucy are well developed and it was obviously a heartwarming story to read but it ended a bit abruptly。 What about val? And id love to see them go to the strawberry farm! A great book that got my so hooked that I read most of it in a day

Finished it in almost 4 days。 Such a good read。

。。。more

I absolutely loved this book。 It was an easy read, and so fun! I went through it in two days because it was such a fun-loving read with a GLORIOUS enemies-to-lovers trope。 If you’re looking for an easy, beach-type read with a compelling romantic plot, this is the book for you。

I really really liked this book。 I enjoyed the storyline and the development。 It was a little predictable but not entirely。 It was really cute and I was happy at the end of it。 Would highly reccomend it。

Lucy Hutton has hated Josh Templeman since their companies merged and they've had to share an office。 They play games with each other, such as The Staring Game, all day long, each trying to gain the upper hand, until it's announced that there's a new executive position opening, COO, and both of them are in the running for it。 Then it becomes a more important game: who can get the promotion。 Everything goes sideways, though, when Josh unexpectedly kisses Lucy in the elevator, and she realizes may Lucy Hutton has hated Josh Templeman since their companies merged and they've had to share an office。 They play games with each other, such as The Staring Game, all day long, each trying to gain the upper hand, until it's announced that there's a new executive position opening, COO, and both of them are in the running for it。 Then it becomes a more important game: who can get the promotion。 Everything goes sideways, though, when Josh unexpectedly kisses Lucy in the elevator, and she realizes maybe she doesn't hate him after all。 Now they're playing a new game, and Lucy isn't sure what the rules are or whether it's better to win or lose。I really, really wanted to like this book。 I'd heard good things about it, I love the idea of office enemies-to-lovers, but this book just wasn't it。 Maybe I've read too much fanfiction lately, but this book was literally just a collection of tropes, which I will list out for you here:1。 Enemies to lovers2。 Large, handsome, scary guy & teeny, cute, people-pleasing girl (also, you don't have to keep mentioning how small she is, we get it)3。 Girl gets sick, guy takes care of her4。 Fake date to a wedding (but actually a real date!) where they guy's ex is marrying his brother5。 He was actually in love with her the whole time and (shocker) never hated her!The plot is minimal (we never find out if Lucy actually gets the job), the banter is so-so, the steamy scenes are just okay, and I didn't actually like either of these characters。 I found them both childish and wildly unprofessional, and even though the book is written from Lucy's PoV I had a hard time following the story and her thought process。 She goes from "I hate Josh" to "I'm standing outside Josh's building after a date with someone else and jumping into his arms" with no in-between and she keeps freaking out about everything。 The only part I liked was when she gave Josh's dad a well-deserved dressing-down, which was in the last 10% of the book。 Unfortunately, not a new favorite for me。 。。。more

When it took me 4 days to read the first two chapters I thought for sure this book was meant to be retired。 Little did I know by chapter four I would be hooked。 I devoured this little romance novel in 1 day miraculously whilst still holding down a job, two kids and housework。 I could barely pry my eyes away。 I’m not one for sappy romance and I’m sure a lot of this would never happen in the real world but what can I say? I fell in love with the characters。 The ending was probably perfect although When it took me 4 days to read the first two chapters I thought for sure this book was meant to be retired。 Little did I know by chapter four I would be hooked。 I devoured this little romance novel in 1 day miraculously whilst still holding down a job, two kids and housework。 I could barely pry my eyes away。 I’m not one for sappy romance and I’m sure a lot of this would never happen in the real world but what can I say? This is one of my favourite and the best rom-com book i have ever read。 It is an enemies-to-lovers type of book and really engrossing book。 It is an must read if you are an rom-com lover。 I don't really wanna write any spoilers beacause u know, well it spoils the fun, but。。。。。。。。。。。。。。Lucy is cute, funny and a huge smartass(u r gonna love her)。 Joshua or Josh is hot, atttractive and a great rival to have i think。Both of them are always at each others throats, fighting for the upper hand(but it i This is one of my favourite and the best rom-com book i have ever read。 It is an enemies-to-lovers type of book and really engrossing book。 It is an must read if you are an rom-com lover。 I don't really wanna write any spoilers beacause u know, well it spoils the fun, but。。。。。。。。。。。。。。Lucy is cute, funny and a huge smartass(u r gonna love her)。 Joshua or Josh is hot, atttractive and a great rival to have i think。Both of them are always at each others throats, fighting for the upper hand(but it is always Josh who has it, as Lucy thinks), playing all kinds of games which concludes in them hating each other and always thinking of ways of making the others life miserable。What happens when a different kind of feeling (than hate) starts blooming in the midst of their hilarious games? yes it was problematic but did i enjoy it? oh, absolutely。 100%。 lucy was so funny i love her so much she's my baby, my adorable baby。 and even josh is borderline stalker (PLSSNDSNDKSM) he was charming。 i think。 pls acknowledge your pretty privilege。 it was annoying how he complained about it 😭 anyways, i really did enjoy it。 so much。 i just think we all need a little light and fluff and romance especially with what's going on rn (and yes even if it's quite problematic and quite cringe, oh well。 yes it was problematic but did i enjoy it? oh, absolutely。 100%。 lucy was so funny i love her so much she's my baby, my adorable baby。 and even josh is borderline stalker (PLSSNDSNDKSM) he was charming。 i think。 pls acknowledge your pretty privilege。 it was annoying how he complained about it 😭 anyways, i really did enjoy it。 so much。 i just think we all need a little light and fluff and romance especially with what's going on rn (and yes even if it's quite problematic and quite cringe, oh well。) 。。。more

Super hot。 Some of Josh’s behaviour is a little bit troublesome (don’t take someone’s phone while they’re in the middle of a conversation, tell the other person not to call again, hang up, and pocket the phone, that’s weird), but I think he is decently complicated and Lucy stands up for herself。 overall I enjoyed this。 Anytime people wanna stop using the “tiny girl eats a lot” and “man is super humanly gorgeous” tropes would be great, though。
