تُصعق فيرونيكا، عندما تفتح عينيها في مستشفى للأمراض العقلية، حيث يبلغونها أنها نجت من الجرعة القاتلة، لكن قلبها أصيب بضرر مميت، ولن تعيش سوى أيام معدودة。

من همیشه نسبت به پائولو کوئیلو گارد داشتم، ولی خب دست سرنوشت （！） باعث شد دومین کتاب ازش رو بخونم。 خوب بود، قشنگ بود، ولی به نظرم برای نوجوان و اوایل جوانی مناسبه و شاید برای کسی که داره به سی سالگی نزدیک میشه یه کم دیر باشه。 من نسخه ی صوتی این کتاب رو با صدای نیکی کریمی گوش دادم و آه و واویلا！ بسیار زیبا روایت کرده بود。
