Summary

Product ownership is an utterly crucial role in most businesses。 Scrum recognizes this -- but unfortunately, many companies, agile resources, and training curricula focus primarily on the mechanics of product ownership。 Mechanics are important, but only as a means to an end: value。 The Professional Product Owner will help product owners and their organizations refocus on value as the primary objective。 The authors offer detailed practices for identifying where value can be found, measuring it, and maximizing it throughout the entire product lifecycle。 Drawing on their combined 40+ years of experience in using agile and Scrum in product delivery, the authors show how to go beyond merely writing requirements and managing product backlogs, to take accountability and drive the process from vision to value。

I am not a Product Owner, rather a Scrum Master studying for my PSPO Certification。 This book not only helped me attain my certification it gave me a better understanding of the role and how I can best coach my current Product Owners to success。 Excellent book, easy to read and understand。

Value, value in every single page。If you are, want to be, deal with or even have the slight interest in PO role, you can't go wrong with this book。 It's on a league of its own。 Value, value in every single page。If you are, want to be, deal with or even have the slight interest in PO role, you can't go wrong with this book。 It's on a league of its own。 。。。more

İstediğim her bilgiyi bulamadım, ancak başka noktalara değinmiş olduğundan (işlerin ne kadarının bittiğinin ölçümü gibi) ufkumu açan bir kitap oldu。

Must read for all Product Owners and everyone who develop or manage (digital) products。Important reading for anyone who do not have much time and want to read one book around the topic。 It's a good start for understanding scrum and product (vs project) mindset。 Must read for all Product Owners and everyone who develop or manage (digital) products。Important reading for anyone who do not have much time and want to read one book around the topic。 It's a good start for understanding scrum and product (vs project) mindset。 。。。more

The structure of the book is bit off specially at the begining and remains shallow through out the book。 Overall, book contains some really useful information。

Naim

A good complementary book to the Scrum Guide before passing PSM1 certification。

Got this as a recommendation from a colleague - and as it turns out it's also recommended by scrum。org as reading material for the product owner exam。Atypical for a book recommended for certifications (see my review for the IREB required reading) well laid out, well written and full of useful stuff。 Probably will serve as a reference on the coming time。 Got this as a recommendation from a colleague - and as it turns out it's also recommended by scrum。org as reading material for the product owner exam。Atypical for a book recommended for certifications (see my review for the IREB required reading) well laid out, well written and full of useful stuff。 Probably will serve as a reference on the coming time。 。。。more

I have enjoyed the book a lot。 Very practical and to the point。 Connecting the business strategy, product visions and tactics with daily operations and monthly sprints。 Showing that Scrum is "just" a framework within the product owner can apply many methods, tools or approaches。 I have enjoyed the book a lot。 Very practical and to the point。 Connecting the business strategy, product visions and tactics with daily operations and monthly sprints。 Showing that Scrum is "just" a framework within the product owner can apply many methods, tools or approaches。 。。。more

It has a handful of techniques for Product Management and is overall a good study。Goes beyond Scrum product management and it makes a solid point in going deeper into the subject beyond Scrum。 Good to have it pocket wise and as reference material whenever you're stuck and ponder "hey, what was my job exactly?" While my initial interest was just to review the basic concepts of Scrum and product ownership, I found this book gave me much more than expected。 Meaningful structure and examples, non-trivial approach to how a product owner must face the different elements of Scrum。。。 Respectful with the definitions but with hints about when to treat it as a framework。。。 All in all I truly enjoyed this read。

Product Owner in this books is defined as 'Agile Product Manager'。 Book consists of very comprehensive description of main Product Owner/Product Manager responsibilities and techniques which might help in the PO/PM profession。 It is good reference material for anyone who plays PO/PM or Agile BA roles in Software projects。Was not very interesting for me since I was already familiar with most of them。 Product Owner in this books is defined as 'Agile Product Manager'。 Book consists of very comprehensive description of main Product Owner/Product Manager responsibilities and techniques which might help in the PO/PM profession。 It is good reference material for anyone who plays PO/PM or Agile BA roles in Software projects。Was not very interesting for me since I was already familiar with most of them。 。。。more

Very good book。 I’m actually surprised to find such a good book for the role。 Worth reading。 Whether you need tools for the role, you will get quite a few of them。 It called my attention Evidence Based Management, how forecasting has been adapted in Sum and a visual representation of the product backlog。
