A deluxe bind-up edition of Naoki Urasawa’s award-winning epic of doomsday cults, giant robots and a group of friends trying to save the world from destruction!

Humanity, having faced extinction at the end of the 20th century, would not have entered the new millennium if it weren’t for them。 In 1969, during their youth, they created a symbol。 In 1997, as the coming disaster slowly starts to unfold, that symbol returns。 This is the story of a group of boys who try to save the world。

Urasawa, you did good。

This was a trippy first volume。 It took me a little bit to get into it, but by the midpoint it hit its stride and I was hooked。 Definitely worth a try。

I was originally put off by the dialogue of the first page, but I was pleasantly surprised at how quickly it picked up。 I love the art, and it's a pretty compelling story with a diverse set of characters, I enjoy the unique look they have compared to so many other manga on the shelf。 It has its own personality to it。 Very excellent。 I was originally put off by the dialogue of the first page, but I was pleasantly surprised at how quickly it picked up。 I love the art, and it's a pretty compelling story with a diverse set of characters, I enjoy the unique look they have compared to so many other manga on the shelf。 It has its own personality to it。 Very excellent。 。。。more

What a fascinating mystery that I cannot put down。 I have been tying to get around to reading 20th century boys since Urasawa is a genius。 I have no regrets so far, the characters are interesting, the story is very thrilling, and the art is amazing as expected。 With the main cast introduced I can't wait to see the mystery unfold。 What a fascinating mystery that I cannot put down。 I have been tying to get around to reading 20th century boys since Urasawa is a genius。 I have no regrets so far, the characters are interesting, the story is very thrilling, and the art is amazing as expected。 With the main cast introduced I can't wait to see the mystery unfold。 。。。more

I think that’s the only question I got, besides how is Kenji going to get his friends to believe any of this to help him out。 I feel like I’ve seen this concept before and not that I’m complaining, it’s really good I’m really into it。 But after reading it all and saying “you can’t trust anyone”, I feel like I’ve seen this before。 I have recently, I just finished watching for the first time the Marvel cinematic universe movies。 And that one movie with Captain America has to not trust anyone because there are ears everywhere and the whole thing with the hydra cult。 I think I’m just comparing those two things, a cult and the not trusting anyone。 I like the concept and the storylines, they’re really good but I think that’s all they got in common to me。 This manga though was super good I can’t say that enough。 Oh and I definitely ship Kenji and Yukiji, kind of want them to get together, and I know Kenji is just taking care of his sisters kid until she gets back but like he’s so protective of her so far I want him to stay that way with her。 It’s cute how he takes her everywhere because she’s literally on his back and be anywhere else。 Anyways that’s my review。 。。。more

This graphic book reads from right to left。 It took my old mind a while to adapt to the reading style, but by a third of the way through, the story had taken over and I raced to the end。 I am pleased that I was warned before I began reading this book, that this was a long series, as there are so many unanswered questions at the end of the volume。 I also understand why the son who lent me this book gave me the first three in the series, and then asked me a couple of days later if I was ready for This graphic book reads from right to left。 It took my old mind a while to adapt to the reading style, but by a third of the way through, the story had taken over and I raced to the end。 I am pleased that I was warned before I began reading this book, that this was a long series, as there are so many unanswered questions at the end of the volume。 I also understand why the son who lent me this book gave me the first three in the series, and then asked me a couple of days later if I was ready for the next ones。An interesting story with engaging twists and turns。 Well worth the few holiday hours that it took to reach the end。 。。。more

How has something like this not gotten an anime adaptation yet? It's great。 The mystery is intriguing, the characters are all unique and interesting, and I really like the back and forth between past and present。 It kinda reminds me of "IT" to some extent。 I'm excited to see Kenji grow into a hero as he continues to uncover what's really going on。 Can't wait to read volume 2。 How has something like this not gotten an anime adaptation yet? Okay。。 I was gonna give it a 5/5 but I feel like it’s just gonna keep getting better and better。 Characters feel like actual people and the story doesn’t seem far of reality。 The main thing about this volume is build up, the story feels very much alive in a sense and I just want to keep reading。 I’ve heard a lot of good things about this manga and so far it’s looking like a setup for a story I’ll never forget。(must read)

Urasawa sets up a slow-burning conspiracy-thriller that is largely an excuse to tell lovely everyday stories about kids, which should resonate with any man who grew up before the internet。I liked this book so much that I've just ordered the other 7 volumes。 This is a solid seinen manga the likes of which we rarely get in translation。 Urasawa sets up a slow-burning conspiracy-thriller that is largely an excuse to tell lovely everyday stories about kids, which should resonate with any man who grew up before the internet。I liked this book so much that I've just ordered the other 7 volumes。 This is a solid seinen manga the likes of which we rarely get in translation。 。。。more
