Incredibly repetitive。 The book could easily be cut in half; however, there were lots of good insights。

The book provides a new way to help individuals shape their negative thoughts and experiences。 Quick read with useful frameworks - would recommend。

Very accessible for the Western seeker, and goes beyond the latest shelves of modern first-world spirituality self-help books based on Eastern philosophy that all seem to repeat themselves。 Sometimes, though, the author provides oversimplified and vague direction like: "just stop thinking" (not this, exactly, but similar) and one is left THINKING, "but how???"。。。。 Still, I give it 4 stars。 Very accessible for the Western seeker, and goes beyond the latest shelves of modern first-world spirituality self-help books based on Eastern philosophy that all seem to repeat themselves。 Sometimes, though, the author provides oversimplified and vague direction like: "just stop thinking" (not this, exactly, but similar) and one is left THINKING, "but how???"。。。。 Still, I give it 4 stars。 。。。more

Fantastic book。 Educational about so many traditions, in a cohesive way that helped me see how they fit together, and the common threads。 Will read this again and again to get the most of it。

I really wanted to like this book, but I really just don’t get how it has such rave reviews。 It is (very) poorly written, it has no structure, and many, many repetitions and contradictions。 What is more, much of what is said lacks actual meaning (“let go of your stuff”- could you please, once, tell us what this stuff is? Be specific!), and is frequently condescending/patronizing/essentialist。 We are constantly told to JUST let go, but never told how this is done。 As if it was such an easy thing I really wanted to like this book, but I really just don’t get how it has such rave reviews。 It is (very) poorly written, it has no structure, and many, many repetitions and contradictions。 What is more, much of what is said lacks actual meaning (“let go of your stuff”- could you please, once, tell us what this stuff is? This makes things understandable & actionableI was meditating and it drug up a lot of emotions。 This explained what to do with them。 Of all the books I’ve read about trying to get to your center。。 this one seems the most practical。 The analogies are very effective。

A very practical self-help book with a hint of fantastical prose and a dash of spirituality/religion towards the end。 It was a bit too mystical for me at times, but was enlightening nonetheless。

Love! This book is so helpful for uncovering unconscious triggers, and the critical mind。 I marked my copy up in highlighter, so I have easy access to reading back for personal-growth reminders。

Is my rating a measure of my agreement/connection with the author's ideas? Or how well he articulated these ideas? I'm weary of constant critique。 I found this book helpful in many ways, and also had some critical reactions。 In the end, I took what I found to be helpful。 Is my rating a measure of my agreement/connection with the author's ideas? I'd give this book 3。5, which is pretty decent impo。 If one is already on the journey of being aware of the inner psyche and understanding how one can change the way to think about how life is happening for us instead of to us , everything clicks。 The only thing that could be a bit out of place was discussed in the very last chapter about the idea of God。 That He is the only being that gives us love and the way of life。 It felt forced and borderline pushy as some individuals could be atheists, r I'd give this book 3。5, which is pretty decent impo。 If one is already on the journey of being aware of the inner psyche and understanding how one can change the way to think about how life is happening for us instead of to us , everything clicks。 The only thing that could be a bit out of place was discussed in the very last chapter about the idea of God。 That He is the only being that gives us love and the way of life。 It felt forced and borderline pushy as some individuals could be atheists, reading this book for a philosophical guidance but instead walking into a persuasion of converting their religious beliefs to Him。 Perhaps the last chapter about God could be expanded and transitioned into a proper length。 Overall, it's a good read though。 。。。more

I’d give this one 4 stars (or maybe even higher) but all the God talk and Bible citing at the last few chapters really ruined it for me。 It has some great points though。 Overall a good read I won’t forget anytime soon。

I’ve read books about self help, all about ego, knowing who you are, the voice inside you head, etc but this one so far is the best book for me。 It is very easy to read and I like the sequence of the chapters。 From knowing who you are, having that energy, being free, and death。 I love everything about it。 Sometimes it makes me think about myself。

Kat

Concise。 Lots of ponderings。

Great book I will definitely reread at some stage! For me it was super interesting, it just took me very long to read through。 Maybe because I’ve kept going back to passages and reading them a couple of times to really understand the meaning of it。 This book will open your eyes!

This is one of my favorite books regarding the self, or lack thereof; the relationship of the individual to the whole; basically the best of Buddhist thought in a clear western vernacular。 I read this book during one of the most difficult times of my life, only to discover it was really one of the best learning experiences I've ever had, and then to discover how amazing experience is regardless of circumstance。For clarity and depth, I believe this is one of the most spiritually helpful books I'v This is one of my favorite books regarding the self, or lack thereof; the relationship of the individual to the whole; basically the best of Buddhist thought in a clear western vernacular。 I read this book during one of the most difficult times of my life, only to discover it was really one of the best learning experiences I've ever had, and then to discover how amazing experience is regardless of circumstance。For clarity and depth, I believe this is one of the most spiritually helpful books I've read thus far。 。。。more

A little heady。 Lofty, idealized, maybe oversimplified ideals。 But interesting food for thought。 A little Difficult to follow as an audiobook。 I’d recommend reading it instead。

This is a rather exceptional book。 A series of essays on the self & the seat of consciousness - it is as fascinating as it is simplistic in its portrayal of complicated aspects of spirituality。 I read this book over several months, which meant that I got to slowly apply each chapter to my life, and have seen a transformation in the way I experience pretty much everything。 In applying the guidance provided in this book, you will be able to release whatever sorrows you have stored inside you, and This is a rather exceptional book。 A series of essays on the self & the seat of consciousness - it is as fascinating as it is simplistic in its portrayal of complicated aspects of spirituality。 I read this book over several months, which meant that I got to slowly apply each chapter to my life, and have seen a transformation in the way I experience pretty much everything。 In applying the guidance provided in this book, you will be able to release whatever sorrows you have stored inside you, and finally begin to actually experience living your best life! 。。。more

This book comes so highly recommended that I had to read it。 To be candid, although there were enlightening moments (such as the psyche as your inner roommate who has hypnotized you for years with doubts and fears and the idea that it is best to let go of a triggering event at the beginning so that it does not become an energy blockage), it was a slog until Singer reached his most glorious Chapter 17 "Contemplating Death。" This is a chapter I will re-read many, many times and still find wisdom a This book comes so highly recommended that I had to read it。 To be candid, although there were enlightening moments (such as the psyche as your inner roommate who has hypnotized you for years with doubts and fears and the idea that it is best to let go of a triggering event at the beginning so that it does not become an energy blockage), it was a slog until Singer reached his most glorious Chapter 17 "Contemplating Death。" This is a chapter I will re-read many, many times and still find wisdom and inspiration。 A must-read chapter。 (If the rest of the book were as engaging, it would be five stars from me)。 。。。more

tReading Michael Singer’s, The Untethered Soul, was an intriguing read and a stretch from my usual reads。 It’s a combo of self-help and spiritual journey。 The edition I read had a new introduction from Singer。 He explained how he has received many responses telling him how the book has changed their lives。 This really intrigued me so I was looking forward to getting through the rest of the book。tSinger walks the reader through several steps on his spiritual journey。 The first section focuses on tReading Michael Singer’s, The Untethered Soul, was an intriguing read and a stretch from my usual reads。 It’s a combo of self-help and spiritual journey。 The edition I read had a new introduction from Singer。 He explained how he has received many responses telling him how the book has changed their lives。 This really intrigued me so I was looking forward to getting through the rest of the book。tSinger walks the reader through several steps on his spiritual journey。 The first section focuses on opening your consciousness and laying your foundation。 He then goes on to explain the energy that moves through your body and mind。 The last three sections are the journey itself and how to free yourself from the pressures and stresses of everyday life。 tSinger is very up front that this is a difficult process。 While the steps he lays down seem simple in practice, actually attempting them is difficult。 One step he focuses on is keeping you from “closing your heart” by reacting to bad situations。 My own instinctive reaction in a bad situation is to clam up and close myself off, so intentionally making myself relax rather than closing up is going to be difficult。 Another aspect that I appreciated was that he encompassed all religions and referenced them all。 He often quoted from the Christian bible, but he usually followed up with references to other religious texts。tI truly enjoyed reading this book and I know it will influence me as I move forward in my own spiritual journey。 If you feel like you are ready to move forward in your own spiritual path, this is an excellent book to pick up。 。。。more
