Summary

Shortlisted for the Sainsbury's Children's Book Award and the Children's Book of the Year in the Irish Book Awards。

This is a brilliantly funny story of a rabbit and a bear who discover that things are always better when they're shared with a friend。

"Peace and quiet!", shouts Rabbit。 "That's all I want!"

Ouch。 He's hurt his own ears again。

What with Bear's snoring and a BANG! -BANG! - BANG! noice from up in the tree, Rabbit knows that something simply has to be done。

But high in the branches, perhaps Bear can show Rabbit how to see the world from a different place。 。 。

From novelist and playwright Julian Gough, and the winner of the Roald Dahl Funny Prize, Jim Field, this is as tale of friendship, wisdom, and how to be really noisy。

This series of books is fab。 My 6 year old daughter loves them。 Quite simple and easy to read so she reads them in one sitting but she likes to re read them。

A delightfully positive story to help kids (and the grown ups reading) see how they can shift themselves to find peace and happiness。 I was put off at first by the illustrations。 They didn't wow me at first, but after several readings I appreciate that they are different than other books that we love。 A delightfully positive story to help kids (and the grown ups reading) see how they can shift themselves to find peace and happiness。 I was put off at first by the illustrations。 They didn't wow me at first, but after several readings I appreciate that they are different than other books that we love。 。。。more

This was very cute and had a wonderful message for kids (and adults)。 I can certainly relate to Rabbit at times! Illustrations were perfect。I only wish the story had 2 or 3 "chapters" as that would make it ideal for a nightly read aloud with a little。Even so, my 3 year old loved this book very much and is looking forward to more from the series! Spring has arrived and Rabbit is ready to face the world。 But his den is a mess, and the woods are full of new and noisy neighbors。 Time to fight! Why I started this book: New books at the library! Hurray! Why I finished it: Good reminder for when I'm feeling like Rabbit and ready to fight the world。 That my problems are smaller than they seem and I need a new perspective。 Spring has arrived and Rabbit is ready to face the world。 But his den is a mess, and the woods are full of new and noisy neighbors。 Time to fight! Why I started this book: New books at the library! Not a fan。 Some of the humor I get, but some of it just isn't funny。 I feel like this was such a dramatic departure from the character growth Rabbit made in the first book! After being awakened by Bear's big hibernation snores, Rabbit just wants some peace and quiet。 Everything and everyone seems to drive him "crazy," leading Rabbit to kick innocent bystanders (like a sleeping tortoise) and generally just take out his bad mood on whatever happens to be in his path。 I also wasn't a fan of how ofte Not a fan。 Some of the humor I get, but some of it just isn't funny。 I feel like this was such a dramatic departure from the character growth Rabbit made in the first book! After being awakened by Bear's big hibernation snores, Rabbit just wants some peace and quiet。 Everything and everyone seems to drive him "crazy," leading Rabbit to kick innocent bystanders (like a sleeping tortoise) and generally just take out his bad mood on whatever happens to be in his path。 I also wasn't a fan of how often the author used the word "crazy" and "stupid。" Will not be recommending this series to young readers。 。。。more

Somewhere between a picture book and a chapter book, this story features a selfish, angry rabbit that gets set off by every noise and inconvenience。 Bear is quiet and calm and tries to help rabbit not to be annoyed at everything。 There's some admonition to seek inner peace。 On the whole, I didn't like reading about Rabbit's constant temper tantrums and didn't think this book series was worth revisiting。 Somewhere between a picture book and a chapter book, this story features a selfish, angry rabbit that gets set off by every noise and inconvenience。 Bear is quiet and calm and tries to help rabbit not to be annoyed at everything。 There's some admonition to seek inner peace。 On the whole, I didn't like reading about Rabbit's constant temper tantrums and didn't think this book series was worth revisiting。 。。。more

I received a free ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review。 I love this book。 I love the pictures and the story。 This was too fun。

I think I know a couple of adults who should read this book and perhaps learn from rabbits journey。 :)

Rabbit & Bear are back for their second adventure。 Julian Gough has done it again with another laugh-out-loud read full of charm and warmth。 Don’t worry if you haven’t read the first book as this is a stand alone story, you can always go back and read the first one after。Rabbit is still grumpy and this time it’s all the noise that’s bothering him。 All he really wants is some peace and quiet…Spring has sprung, the sun is shining and Rabbit has been rudely awoken by a terrible noise。 If it isn’t B Rabbit & Bear are back for their second adventure。 Julian Gough has done it again with another laugh-out-loud read full of charm and warmth。 Don’t worry if you haven’t read the first book as this is a stand alone story, you can always go back and read the first one after。Rabbit is still grumpy and this time it’s all the noise that’s bothering him。 All he really wants is some peace and quiet…Spring has sprung, the sun is shining and Rabbit has been rudely awoken by a terrible noise。 If it isn’t Bear’s snoring then it is the pesky woodpecker with his "Bang! Bang! Bang!" from up in the tree。 It seems there is no escape from the noise for Rabbit and he knows that something has to be done。 But maybe there doesn’t need to be an escape from it…perhaps Bear can help Rabbit to see things differently。The Pest in the Nest is a read that is totally relatable for any reader。 We all have days when the world annoys us。 It could be something as small as the continuous dripping of a tap or the builder with his jackhammer digging up the road right outside your house。 As Bear teaches Rabbit though, sometimes it isn’t about changing the world around you, it is about changing how you see the world。 A great read for exploring different feelings and what you can do when something makes you feel grumpy or when something is annoying you。The characters of Rabbit and Bear are as loveable as they were in the first book。 Rabbit is at his brilliant bossy best and just about everything irritates him。 Bear is happy, helpful, calm and full of positivity and wanting to find solutions to problems。 Though with a noisy woodpecker on the scene, Rabbit and Bear’s friendship will be put to the test。This second instalment of Rabbit & Bear is again beautifully presented with illustrations from Jim Field that perfectly capture the different personalities and emotions of Bear, Rabbit, Woodpecker and Tortoise。 Readers of the first book will be delighted to see that the setting map is again included - anyone for a visit to the Wild Fool Falls or The Cliff of a Thousand Birds? The read is easily accessible to younger readers as each page has illustrations accompanied by a small amount of text。An ideal read for emerging readers, especially those transitioning from picture books to chapter books。 The story is easy to follow and features a setting and characters that are familiar。 Great for reading aloud to children of 5+ and for young confident readers to read independently。Recommended for 5+。 。。。more

This was a great read-together book with my 7-year-old。 It gave him practice reading a “long” book, with full pages of text/paragraphs, but not in an intimidating way。 Lovely illustrations and a storyline that didn’t bore me like most first chapter books do。 Challenging words for a first grader, but not so challenging so as to be discouraging。 Parent heads up: the book uses the word “stupid” on occasion。 I didn’t have a problem with it, but it’s there if you prefer to avoid it。

Both the books (the pest in the nest rabbits bad habits) are so funny and I recommend them to 3-10 ages

Oh。 My。 Gosh。 This book was so profound on so many levels that I will need to get my own copy and read it to many of the adults in my life who could benefit from the deceptively simple wisdom found within。 Seriously, this could be a life-changing book, ably explaining very difficult ideas in such a way that even a child (as is the intended audience) would understand。 I happened upon this at the public library but after reading this, I kinda wonder if I wasn't meant to find it。 Highly, highly rec Oh。 My。 Gosh。 This book was so profound on so many levels that I will need to get my own copy and read it to many of the adults in my life who could benefit from the deceptively simple wisdom found within。 Seriously, this could be a life-changing book, ably explaining very difficult ideas in such a way that even a child (as is the intended audience) would understand。 I happened upon this at the public library but after reading this, I kinda wonder if I wasn't meant to find it。 Highly, highly reccommended。 。。。more

Dan: Love these books! This is number 2 in the series and like the first book Bear is a lovely, gentle and wise character and Rabbit is very much the opposite but his growth is the story of the book。 Excellent interplay between text and pictures and perfect for children who are moving into early independent reading。

Rabbit woke up from hibernation and discovered that all the surrounding noises annoyed him including a woodpecker hacking in the tree。 Rabbit friend Bear helped Rabbit to achieve mindfulness by reframing negativity and putting a positive spin。

I haven't read the first book in the series。 I just discovered this one and read it (2nd in the series of 4 to date)。 It was a quick read for me and I think it would be a great book for a beginning chapter book reader。 I didn't feel like there was anything that I was missing by not having read a prior book。 The illustrations are nicely done and flow along with the text and story well。 Although it's right around 100 pages, it is much closer to a picture book in terms of the amount of words per pa I haven't read the first book in the series。 I just discovered this one and read it (2nd in the series of 4 to date)。 It was a quick read for me and I think it would be a great book for a beginning chapter book reader。 I didn't feel like there was anything that I was missing by not having read a prior book。 The illustrations are nicely done and flow along with the text and story well。 Although it's right around 100 pages, it is much closer to a picture book in terms of the amount of words per page。 The storyline itself, while being very easy to follow, also has an excellent message for readers of all ages。 High marks for this cute little book。 。。。more

gr/koynelos-kai-。。。 。。。more

Right up there with Piggie and Gerald or Frog and Toad, these stories are filled with sheer fun and surprisingly well-rounded moral truths told in a way that resonate while engaging me and my children in the imaginative tales and the multi-dimensional characters。
