This book is a perfect example of the extraordinary imagination that Roald Dahl had。 This is a charming little book about a giraffe, a pelican, and a monkey teaming up to be window-washers with a little boy whose dream is to own a sweet shop。 Their adventures are adorable and the limericks are so catchy you might catch yourself singing them out loud! It's a perfect book to give your children。 This book is a perfect example of the extraordinary imagination that Roald Dahl had。 This is a charming little book about a giraffe, a pelican, and a monkey teaming up to be window-washers with a little boy whose dream is to own a sweet shop。 Their adventures are adorable and the limericks are so catchy you might catch yourself singing them out loud! I didn’t particularly enjoy the book although the characters were likeable。 I can understand why young children would enjoy the story with rhymes included, nonsense happenings and relatable (debatable!) events。 Written in true Roald Dahl style with fun phrases this is a lovely story of a friendship formed between the boy Billy, a giraffe, a monkey and a pelican as they clean the windows; one thing leads to another。 As a teacher I can see elements of this being good for teaching points and use in I didn’t particularly enjoy the book although the characters were likeable。 I can understand why young children would enjoy the story with rhymes included, nonsense happenings and relatable (debatable!) events。 Written in true Roald Dahl style with fun phrases this is a lovely story of a friendship formed between the boy Billy, a giraffe, a monkey and a pelican as they clean the windows; one thing leads to another。 As a teacher I can see elements of this being good for teaching points and use in the classroom but not as much as other Dahl stories。 。。。more

I really wanna do a read through of all of Dahl's books for kids。 I reread Matilda about once a year and The Witches, while strange and somewhat problematic, is still one of my favorites。 I read this one to remember if it was as cute and light as I remembered so I could pair it with other beggining chapter books。 It is! It also is filled with cute rhymes/songs that parents and kids could sing along to if doing partnered reading。 I really wanna do a read through of all of Dahl's books for kids。 I reread Matilda about once a year and The Witches, while strange and somewhat problematic, is still one of my favorites。 I read this one to remember if it was as cute and light as I remembered so I could pair it with other beggining chapter books。 It is! 3。5 estrellasUna historia simple y corta pero linda。Este es un libro súper cortito pero, la verdad, es lindo y entretenido siento que al que lo lea se la va a formar una sonrisa en su rostro。 Creo que los libros de Roald Dahl tienen una chispa que te hace recordar lo bonita que es la niñez y lo lindo de la inocencia de los niños y que por alguna razón siempre me recuerda a los momentos felices de mi infancia。Recomendaría este libro si quieren leer algo ligero, entretenido y bonito。

The giraffe and the Pelly and me was about a boy named Billy who wanted this shop that use to sell candy。 Then Billy met the giraffe the Pelly and a monkey。 They were all magic。 My favorite part was when Pelly caught burglar。 My favorite character was giraffe because her magic was so cool。

Currently spending my time trapped in a snow storm in Texas。。 decided to go through my childhood bookshelf and read some Roald Dahl books。 This was definitely a charming and quirky read。。 not my favorite by Dahl but still fun。 The characters were entertaining and made me smile!

Short。 Random。 Entertaining。

We read this in two days to the kids and it was fun and entertaining, though not amazing or super thought-provoking。 It had a satisfying end--short and sweet。

The story just sort of rambles on without guidance, but my young son really enjoyed it。 I can see why, as it is a silly book。 There are no chapters and it makes for a quick read。 It’s not Roald Dahl’s best by a long shot, but not a waste of time, either, especially if you are a child。

Not a fan of reading this to a 5 year old。 Surprisingly hinges on violence and guns as the main discourse and threats between the Duke, the visitors, and the burglar。 Skip it。

This was one of my favourites of Dahl's - or to be fair, favourites of anyone's - when I was growing up。 I'm very glad to say that reading it again after all these years, I'm still very much in love with it。It's only very short, but despite this Dahl still manages to fit a lot in, as usual。 There's some other mainstays of Dahl's work - the unattended children (or at least children as main characters with no mention of parents), friendly and energetic old people, and some very interesting animals This was one of my favourites of Dahl's - or to be fair, favourites of anyone's - when I was growing up。 I'm very glad to say that reading it again after all these years, I'm still very much in love with it。It's only very short, but despite this Dahl still manages to fit a lot in, as usual。 There's some other mainstays of Dahl's work - the unattended children (or at least children as main characters with no mention of parents), friendly and energetic old people, and some very interesting animals。The story is fairly simple and very tidy, but has the trademark charm and quirk typical of the author: three magical (although the monkey seems to not have a special ability, he can still talk, after all) animals who have, of all things, a window cleaning company。 I'd love to see where his ideas came from。 There's a baddy who gets dealt with (hopefully this won't count as too much of a spoiler) and some mild peril along the way, but everything ends up nicely sorted。I think my favourite part as a child was the aftermath with the shop。 There was nothing more I wanted than to try everything described, and as an adult I'm just as tempted。 I like that it's in the same universe as Wonka - I don't remember this, and I'm interested to see if any of his other stories tie together now - but they all sound so fantastic。It's worth mentioning the tight verse in here, too, even if there is only short snatches。 It's all very easy to read, with great pacing and rhyme, something I think is great in a kids book。 I used to love it, anyway。 The final close, also in verse, is another nice touch by the author, similar in a way to the ending of the BFG, slightly breaking the fourth wall。It's a fantastic book。 If you haven't ever read it, do yourself a favour and do so。 It's fifteen minutes I guarantee you won't regret。 。。。more
