This is such a lovely and sweet story about making friends。 Little Nutbrown Hare wants to play, but Big Nutbrown Hare is busy, so Little Nutbrown Hare goes exploring and finds different hares to play with。 But not every hare he finds out there is real, will Little Nutbrown Hare find a real friend to play with?I’ve read ‘Guess How Much I Love’ and found it such a sweet and lovely read, so when I found out about this new installment featuring Little Nutbrown Hare I couldn’t wait to see what happen This is such a lovely and sweet story about making friends。 Little Nutbrown Hare wants to play, but Big Nutbrown Hare is busy, so Little Nutbrown Hare goes exploring and finds different hares to play with。 But not every hare he finds out there is real, will Little Nutbrown Hare find a real friend to play with?I’ve read ‘Guess How Much I Love’ and found it such a sweet and lovely read, so when I found out about this new installment featuring Little Nutbrown Hare I couldn’t wait to see what happened。 The book is a beautiful hardback with a dust jacket and is larger than an A4 in size。 It’s filled with thick matt pages of text and colourful illustrations。 While Big Nutbrown Hare is busy, Little Nutbrown Hare explores the surrounding area。 He finds a puddle and sees a hare reflected back in the water, a hare he could play with, but it’s only his reflection。 He then sees a hare looking shape on the ground, a hare he could play with, but it’s only his shadow。 This happens a few times, each time Little Nutbrown Hare spots a potential hare-shaped friend to play with but then realists that it’s only himself that he’s really seeing。 I love the creativity that’s shown here, looking for a friend and playing with shadows and reflections of yourself is something that I’m sure many children at some point have tried to do, I know I did when I was young!Once Little Nutbrown Hare visits Cloudy Mountain things change though because he spots another hare, a white hare, but this time there’s something different。 This hare is real it’s someone real to have fun with! The story is a short one but very sweet with the two hares eventually playing and having fun and later Little Nutbrown Hare goes home。 There’s a fun twist on the playtime they spend together though and I like what happened as the day went on。 There’s a fun ending to the story and it is lovely to read, but I did feel as though the actual tale was a bit short and missing some of the magic of ‘Guess How Much I Love You’。The illustrations are really lovely to look at。 I’ve come to adore Anita Jeram’s watercolour images whenever I see them in a book and just like with ‘Guess How Much I Love You’, this book is filled with truly beautiful pictures which have a sweet and slightly old-fashioned feel to them。 The illustrations really make the story feel more special, especially with the way all the characters look and their expressions, and I just love the way the two hares look when they are playing together, it’s so sweet。This really is a lovely story with a fun ending although it does feel too short and as if something else was missing。 I would have loved another scene with more of the two small hares shown rather than the slightly abrupt end to the tale we get instead。 Despite that comment though, this really is a lovely tale, filled with such sweet images and a book I think many children will enjoy reading and looking at again and again。-Thanks to Walker Books for a free copy for review。 。。。more

This is a nice companion to Guess How Much I Love You as Little Nutbrown Hare explores independence。 He wants to find a friend to play with, but keeps seeing reflections of himself until finally he meet another hare。 The two play hide and seek together but both wait for the other to find them。 Nutbrown Hare goes home disappointed but his new friend has followed him home。 I've always given Guess How Much I Love You to new mothers to read to their babies, and it will be a pleasure now to give them This is a nice companion to Guess How Much I Love You as Little Nutbrown Hare explores independence。 He wants to find a friend to play with, but keeps seeing reflections of himself until finally he meet another hare。 The two play hide and seek together but both wait for the other to find them。 Nutbrown Hare goes home disappointed but his new friend has followed him home。 I've always given Guess How Much I Love You to new mothers to read to their babies, and it will be a pleasure now to give them both of these books。 。。。more

Strange story (if it can really be called a story at all)

Super sweet illustrations and text, but the end felt unresolved。 I wish there was a silly moment where they both realized no one was "seeking" in hide and seek。 Super sweet illustrations and text, but the end felt unresolved。 I wish there was a silly moment where they both realized no one was "seeking" in hide and seek。 。。。more

Guess how much I love you, will forever remind me of my childhood。 I was excited to see this release 26 years after the original classic。 A heart warming story with the brilliant Anita Jeram’s illustrations throughout。

This book is a companion story to Guess How Much I Love You?。。。 I liked it, but did find it very simplistic, which is fine when considering its audience is children (in my opinion the youngest of children)。 It reminded me of growing up as an only child and has brought back memories of trying to amuse myself when there was no other kids around。 I think this is a nice, bright book that would be the perfect Easter treat as the story focuses on sweet rabbits and the illustrations are very reminiscen This book is a companion story to Guess How Much I Love You?。。。 I liked it, but did find it very simplistic, which is fine when considering its audience is children (in my opinion the youngest of children)。 It reminded me of growing up as an only child and has brought back memories of trying to amuse myself when there was no other kids around。 I think this is a nice, bright book that would be the perfect Easter treat as the story focuses on sweet rabbits and the illustrations are very reminiscent of springtime。Thank you kindly to Walker Books and Tandem Collective UK for providing me with a copy of this book as part of the children’s books readalong 🐰 。。。more

Guess How Much I Love You is a roaring success for a reason; it’s difficult not to just adore bunnies who are happy and just want to love each other and be friends isn’t it? In this episode, little hare meets another little hare up in the mountains and wants them to become friends。 The illustrations are super cute, the hare’s are adorable and the story gives you all the warm fuzzies。 There’s never very much to these stories in terms of a narrative, but I love them all the same。 ARC provided from Guess How Much I Love You is a roaring success for a reason; it’s difficult not to just adore bunnies who are happy and just want to love each other and be friends isn’t it? When Little Nutbrown Hare's mama is too busy to play, he goes exploring。 Along the way he tries to play with his reflection and his shadow, but it's not as much fun。 Then he encounters a REAL friend - a snowshoe hare named Tipps, who invites him to play。 They run and chase and dig and do all the kinds of things that hares enjoy。 Their last game is hide and seek (but I'm not sure either of them knows how it's supposed to work, because they BOTH hide at the same time), and when it's time to go hom When Little Nutbrown Hare's mama is too busy to play, he goes exploring。 Along the way he tries to play with his reflection and his shadow, but it's not as much fun。 Then he encounters a REAL friend - a snowshoe hare named Tipps, who invites him to play。 They run and chase and dig and do all the kinds of things that hares enjoy。 Their last game is hide and seek (but I'm not sure either of them knows how it's supposed to work, because they BOTH hide at the same time), and when it's time to go home Little Nutbrown Hare isn't sure if he'll ever see Tipps again。 But she surprises him AND his mama。 The moral of the story is that it's good to have bun (ok, hare) friends! Big Nutbrown Hare is very busy, so Little Nutbrown Hare hops off to play by himself。 As he explores, and discovers several things, he spots a snow hare named Tipps , and they become fast friends, and spend the day together having fun。

There's not much story here, I mostly adore Anita Jeram's illustrations。I used to like that little nutbrown hare was just that, so gender was a little neutral, but it feels odd when the other rabbit does have a name。。。 There's not much story here, I mostly adore Anita Jeram's illustrations。I used to like that little nutbrown hare was just that, so gender was a little neutral, but it feels odd when the other rabbit does have a name。。。 。。。more

Didn’t realize this was a sequel until I saw the sticker on the cover but I don’t t junk that really affects my opinion of the book。 The plot is just kind of meh。 A bunny goes off to play, sees their reflection (realizes it is them), sees their shadow (repeat) , then sees an actual other bunny。 Then they play。 That’s pretty much it。 It bothered me from the beginning that the character’s name is “little nutbrown hare” (that would be like calling me “white woman”) but it bothered me even more when Didn’t realize this was a sequel until I saw the sticker on the cover but I don’t t junk that really affects my opinion of the book。 The plot is just kind of meh。 A bunny goes off to play, sees their reflection (realizes it is them), sees their shadow (repeat) , then sees an actual other bunny。 Then they play。 That’s pretty much it。 It bothered me from the beginning that the character’s name is “little nutbrown hare” (that would be like calling me “white woman”) but it bothered me even more when the Cloudy Mountain Hare had an actual name (Tipps)。 I will not likely purchase this book for my school library collection。 。。。more

A sweet, bright friendship story from the late Sam McBratney, but it ends very abruptly and almost seems unfinished, like it stops before really getting to the end。 Hand to McBratney superfans and those who can't get enough of adorable Little Nutbrown Hare。 A sweet, bright friendship story from the late Sam McBratney, but it ends very abruptly and almost seems unfinished, like it stops before really getting to the end。 Hand to McBratney superfans and those who can't get enough of adorable Little Nutbrown Hare。 。。。more

Grade Range: k-3rd Genre: Fiction This is a really cute book about making friends and adventuring。 The illustrations were simple but really cute and flowed with the book。 The climax of the book was little Nutbrown Hare made a little friend。 Over all, great story time read。

The familiar characters and illustrations from "Guess How Much I Love You" are here。 The plot is a bit thin--usually making a friend takes more than merely asking the title's question。 Nevertheless, this a sweet book for a quick warm fuzzy type experience。 Recommended for preschoolers。 Possible tie-in with the Creation story of humankind--finding a partner recognized as one's matching species。 The familiar characters and illustrations from "Guess How Much I Love You" are here。 The plot is a bit thin--usually making a friend takes more than merely asking the title's question。 Nevertheless, this a sweet book for a quick warm fuzzy type experience。 Recommended for preschoolers。 Possible tie-in with the Creation story of humankind--finding a partner recognized as one's matching species。 。。。more

I could be reading too much into this, but something about the “your parent is way to busy for you, go find a random stranger your parent hasn’t met to go off all day with” concept didn’t sit well with me。 I am sure the idea is that it’s great to be nice to people and make new friends, and it is, but all I could think about was the pedophilloic grooming strategy of having a child play with the target child for awhile before asking them to leave and meet their “parent”。。。 by themselves。 Snow bunn I could be reading too much into this, but something about the “your parent is way to busy for you, go find a random stranger your parent hasn’t met to go off all day with” concept didn’t sit well with me。 I am sure the idea is that it’s great to be nice to people and make new friends, and it is, but all I could think about was the pedophilloic grooming strategy of having a child play with the target child for awhile before asking them to leave and meet their “parent”。。。 by themselves。 Snow bunny can do it, and it was so sweet and fun, so why shouldn’t I? I know this probably sounds ridiculous, but this stuff is happening every day。 What are we teaching our children? Are we expecting a small child to think critically about stories like this and how they apply in real life? It’s a cute story and Anita Jeram’s art is beautiful as usual, but it’s not worth the risk to me, at least until my kiddo is old enough for me to explain situations like that in an age appropriate way。 。。。more
