Summary

'Shoot all the Bluejays you want, if you can hit 'em, but remember it's a sin to kill a Mockingbird。' Atticus Finch gives this advice to his children as he defends the real mockingbird of this classic novel - a black man charged with attacking a white girl。 Through the eyes of Scout and Jem Finch, Lee explores the issues of race and class in the Deep South of the 1930s with compassion and humor。 She also creates one of the great heroes of literature in their father, whose lone struggle for justice pricks the conscience of a town steeped in prejudice and hypocrisy。

What a pleasurable, thought-provoking, relevant and fun read! You must also read Go Set A Watchman - it's the matured complement to this book。 Together they elevate above and beyond TKaM's classic status。 What a pleasurable, thought-provoking, relevant and fun read! I liked this but sometimes it felt like reading a history book, i think that's why it took me so long to finish it, for me it kinda got a boring at times。 But overall I enjoyed it, i like the way it's written and i like how it makes me feel this warm touch in my soul if that makes sense。 Again I gave it 3 stars because at times it felt like reading a history book。 I liked this but sometimes it felt like reading a history book, i think that's why it took me so long to finish it, for me it kinda got a boring at times。 But overall I enjoyed it, i like the way it's written and i like how it makes me feel this warm touch in my soul if that makes sense。 Again I gave it 3 stars because at times it felt like reading a history book。 。。。more

Oh dear oh dear is this a beautiful book。Nothing much more needs to be said- everyone knows of this book, and everyone should definitely read it at least once in their lifetime。

I read it for a class assignment, but it turned out to be one of the best books I have ever read。 With its page-turning plot, insightful stories on prejudice, and the magnificent vocabulary it processes。 This book I would recommend to anyone。

I guess it was a progressive book for the 1960s but it just comes off as very white saviour。 I'm just not that interested in a hero who defends an innocent man not because it's the right thing to do but because he is legally obliged to; who recognises systemic racism exists but has no intention fixing it, brushing it off as "not something that will be fixed in my lifetime"; who has a contented slave housekeeper。 I guess it was a progressive book for the 1960s but it just comes off as very white saviour。 I'm just not that interested in a hero who defends an innocent man not because it's the right thing to do but because he is legally obliged to; who recognises systemic racism exists but has no intention fixing it, brushing it off as "not something that will be fixed in my lifetime"; who has a contented slave housekeeper。 。。。more

The description of social classes and racism in the early 30’s in a little town of Alabama is done through the eyes of young kids who are educated to question their society and grow their mind about the world。 I really liked the approach and atmosphere created in the story of this family and how the young ones are astonished by the mentality of adults and culture of racisms at this time。 Great book !

This book hit on a hard topic, about injustice happening even now in society about class and racism, the story explores the injustice happened to black man after being falsely accused of raping a white girl。 And how the society treats people with color。 It helped me understand the life of black people those days and it is sad to see after all these era racism is still under debate and people are still suffering。

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 Loved it! So wholesome especially from a childs point of view learning what’s right and wrong in the world。 Atticus was such a great role model character too。 But I was sad with how the book turned out towards the end, I was really hoping for Tom to be set free and served justice。

To kill a mocking bird was a great book it had a bunch of life lessons and taught greater understandings of the world for me personally。 It takes place during the Great Depression in which I think is a good setting to set the mood because you know where everyone is comping from。 The novel tells about Jen and scout abs the other kids and the big case about Tom Robinson and how Atticus is a fighting strong lawyer and will fight for justice and what’s right。

Everyone should read this book… It tells a lot about America's racist justice system as well as the racism on the street。 It follows a young white girl, Scout, who's father is a lawyer and has to defend a black man accused of rape。 Scout is quickly exposed to racism but desn't understand it, between her father who is against it, but society said otherwise。 It's really touching。 Everyone should read this book… It tells a lot about America's racist justice system as well as the racism on the street。 It follows a young white girl, Scout, who's father is a lawyer and has to defend a black man accused of rape。 Scout is quickly exposed to racism but desn't understand it, between her father who is against it, but society said otherwise。 It's really touching。 。。。more
