Summary

The God Delusion caused a sensation when it was published in 2006。 Within weeks it became the most hotly debated topic, with Dawkins himself branded as either saint or sinner for presenting his hard-hitting, impassioned rebuttal of religion of all types。

His argument could hardly be more topical。 While Europe is becoming increasingly secularized, the rise of religious fundamentalism, whether in the Middle East or Middle America, is dramatically and dangerously dividing opinion around the world。 In America, and elsewhere, a vigorous dispute between 'intelligent design' and Darwinism is seriously undermining and restricting the teaching of science。 In many countries religious dogma from medieval times still serves to abuse basic human rights such as women's and gay rights。 And all from a belief in a God whose existence lacks evidence of any kind。

Dawkins attacks God in all his forms。 He eviscerates the major arguments for religion and demonstrates the supreme improbability of a supreme being。 He shows how religion fuels war, foments bigotry and abuses children。

The God Delusion is a brilliantly argued, fascinating polemic that will be required reading for anyone interested in this most emotional and important subject。

Didn't think it was possible to get so many factual errors in so many pages。 Must be a record。 Hate to attend one of his actual lectures; would have to read other sources and views to get real information。 Didn't think it was possible to get so many factual errors in so many pages。 Must be a record。 Hate to attend one of his actual lectures; would have to read other sources and views to get real information。 。。。more

I want to give a testimony on how I got cured from Herpes Virus。 Few months back I was having some symptoms。 I went to see a doctor and many blood tests was done on me, later on I was told I had Herpes。 My doctor told me that there’s no cure for Herpes I felt bad, I went online searching for a possible cure for Herpes Virus, I saw a post of Dr。 Ojamo a herbal doctor that’s helping people get cured from Herpes。 I contacted him and told him how I’m feeling he said his herbal medicine can cure me。 I want to give a testimony on how I got cured from Herpes Virus。 Few months back I was having some symptoms。 I went to see a doctor and many blood tests was done on me, later on I was told I had Herpes。 My doctor told me that there’s no cure for Herpes I felt bad, I went online searching for a possible cure for Herpes Virus, I saw a post of Dr。 Ojamo a herbal doctor that’s helping people get cured from Herpes。 I contacted him and told him how I’m feeling he said his herbal medicine can cure me。 He sent me the medicine via UPS delivery service and I received the medicine in 8 days after he sent it, i took the medicine as prescribed by him。 Before i completed the medication the symptoms stopped。 I went to the doctor and carried out another blood test, surprisingly I was Negative。 I haven’t had any symptoms anymore。 Dr。 Ojamo is great and you can contact him via dr。ojamoherbalhome@gmail。com or message him on via whats-app at +2349077406037You can check on his website for more info https://drojamoherbalhome。wixsite。com。。。 。。。more

Rereading this it feels super outdated。 It is still very compelling but I feel like the arguments in this book have been used as pretexts for a lot of unpleasant views (I say this from experience - I read it as a teenager and it turned me into a bit of a dick for while)。

I fell in love with Science after listening to this book。 I realised that my field of Software Engineering could be related closely to biology and the possibilities are greater that any religion can come up with。 Science has proved itself to be an awesome tool to break down the walls that bind us in this reality。 Religion can suck my dick! Religion is the poison that makes us judge the people around us harshly。

The author takes some liberties in logic and there are a couple of “he did not just go there” moments, but his writing style overcomes any of that kind of criticism 。 。。。 If you have some great stories like this one, you can publish it on Novel Star, just submit your story to hardy@novelstar。top or joye@novelstar。top

As can be said of Dawkins, it is possible that he intended to make people atheists with an idea he has conveyed in several other books。I also think that Dawkins is a scientist who has little concern with religion in this world, so he decided to write down all his thoughts in a book of debating religion。But it seems that Dawkins is misunderstood by what other people think of this book。 I don't know how the general public tries to respond to this book, but it is quite a controversial book in my co As can be said of Dawkins, it is possible that he intended to make people atheists with an idea he has conveyed in several other books。I also think that Dawkins is a scientist who has little concern with religion in this world, so he decided to write down all his thoughts in a book of debating religion。But it seems that Dawkins is misunderstood by what other people think of this book。 I don't know how the general public tries to respond to this book, but it is quite a controversial book in my country。Even with a lot of bright ideas (and I agree with some of them too), it's just that I think Dawkins is really taking care of other people。I think it is something natural if it turns out that he has been tormented by religion (who knows)。 Still, for me, the points in this book make enough sense even though basically Dawkins also makes quite an exaggerated generalization of his claims。And I'm sure every writer does that too。Anyway, this is quite an interesting book that you can read seriously to open your mind about your religion。 If you can understand this book well, maybe that is the time for you to question your religion。 。。。more

Dawkins at his best。 Unmasking and unearthing all the incongruencies of the things we believe in, or we pretend to believe in。。。 Beliefs that we haven't even bothered to understand! Clear, to the point and well argumented。 A book that will be almost no controversial in a decade。

Thoroughly enjoyed the presence of facts and anecdotes in the book to explain the different ideas and concepts while still maintaining the quality of what is being said。

Not my fave。 I didn’t find some of the arguments or chapters interesting, but that could because I already am nonbelieving。

Incredibly interesting if you’ve been raised Catholic or any other faith。

Some pretty interesting stuff mostly bogged down by a few long-winded chapters and a jarringly abrupt ending。

Sorely disappointed。 Looking forward to getting a better grasp of the reasons NOT to believe in God, but Dawkins seemed to have more of an agenda against Christians than an interest in sharing concrete reasons。 He employed poor logic in numerous places, rarely used good or statistical sources, employed an ungodly amount of anecdotal evidence for a topic which I would expect to be far more scientific。 Felt like he was trying to horrify readers with religion rather than create a good argument for Sorely disappointed。 Looking forward to getting a better grasp of the reasons NOT to believe in God, but Dawkins seemed to have more of an agenda against Christians than an interest in sharing concrete reasons。 He employed poor logic in numerous places, rarely used good or statistical sources, employed an ungodly amount of anecdotal evidence for a topic which I would expect to be far more scientific。 Felt like he was trying to horrify readers with religion rather than create a good argument for God's nonexistence。 I'm certain there are good arguments for not believing in God, but Dawkins does not share them here。 。。。more

I took off two stars for the random rant about how raising a child Catholic is worse than sexual abuse。 That would be incorrect。

Dawkins is the most prolific scientific philosopher in our generation。 I likes God Delusion, but found Selfish Gene much more impactful

There is nothing to be said about this book that has not been covered by other reviewers so I will keep this review short。 Dawkins' style is almost like a more exuberant and less hostile version of that of the late Christopher Hitchens, whom I still miss, although no more than Dawkins, I am sure。 The Ultimate Boeing 747 Gambit is devastating to any claims of intelligent design - which is currently the most passionately and ubiquitously espoused argument for god。 Not only does Dawkins successfull There is nothing to be said about this book that has not been covered by other reviewers so I will keep this review short。 Dawkins' style is almost like a more exuberant and less hostile version of that of the late Christopher Hitchens, whom I still miss, although no more than Dawkins, I am sure。 The Ultimate Boeing 747 Gambit is devastating to any claims of intelligent design - which is currently the most passionately and ubiquitously espoused argument for god。 Not only does Dawkins successfully dismiss any claims that popular religions ought to be considered in higher esteem and reverence than any other mythologies or cults, but he also expounds why religious belief or belief of any other kind, a) severely curtails the mental faculties of the believer; and b) instils within the believer a sense of morality that is, by all modern secularist standards, anachronistic at best and wicked at worst。 Suffice it to say that I immensely enjoyed this book。The God Delusion is a must-read for any free-thinking person who, if not already at least sceptical of the fictitious concept of god (or gods), is open to subsuming a new perspective if evidence and reason demand it。 。。。more

As a once raging Christian, now turned atheist, I've been wanting to read this book for a while。 I liked the chapters that cover morality, the farfetched and horrific stories in the bible, and inconstiencys in religious beliefs, as these are all topics that I think about a lot since becoming an atheist。 That being said, the other chapters and majority of the book itself is very long and a lot to digest, with many pages filled with quotes and references to other studies。 Perhaps it's because I do As a once raging Christian, now turned atheist, I've been wanting to read this book for a while。 I liked the chapters that cover morality, the farfetched and horrific stories in the bible, and inconstiencys in religious beliefs, as these are all topics that I think about a lot since becoming an atheist。 That being said, the other chapters and majority of the book itself is very long and a lot to digest, with many pages filled with quotes and references to other studies。 Perhaps it's because I don't have a scientific background, but I didn't get as much satisfaction out of these chapters。 Just give me the tea on God, the bible, and religious leaders tbqh!I can see why this is one of the 'go to' books for athiests, but I'm wondering if there is another book out there that would have satisfied my questions on religion without overloading me with SCIENCE! Somehow even worse and less substantial than I thought it would be, which is a shame because The Selfish Gene was fantastic。

This should be a must read for children everywhere。 Religious zealots will want the book burned。 However, dangers and experience of religion are obvious and pointed out。 Science portions of the book should be an eye opener why religion can be a wet blanket to obvious understanding。

A very interesting and extremely thought-provoking book that I would go as far as to say is an essential read for anyone — regardless of their beliefs。 I’ve refrained from giving a full 5* rating due to a couple of criticisms I have: Dawkins is at times slightly pretentious, a bit too scientific (understandable as he is a scientist but this book is for a general audience and he often goes off on these tangents that only make sense to someone with some background knowledge) and always too singula A very interesting and extremely thought-provoking book that I would go as far as to say is an essential read for anyone — regardless of their beliefs。 I’ve refrained from giving a full 5* rating due to a couple of criticisms I have: Dawkins is at times slightly pretentious, a bit too scientific (understandable as he is a scientist but this book is for a general audience and he often goes off on these tangents that only make sense to someone with some background knowledge) and always too singularly focused on his mission。 The latter is especially problematic。 An example is his argument that the mental abuse caused by bringing up children as religious is even worse than the physical abuse caused by sexual assault。 It sounds audacious without context but he does make a convincing argument and raises valid points, but it still comes off (unintentionally) as trivialising of sexual abuse。 Why not just warn of the dangers of raising “faithful” children? Is a comparison necessary in the first place? 。。。more
