I wasn't sure what to expect when I started this。 The story is definitely is a wild adventure! I'd like to read critical analyses of these two texts for an in-depth look at them。 I admit that they're not my favourite classics, but I'm so glad that I finally read them instead of allowing the Disney movie to be my only reference to these classic tales。 Not as disturbing as Grimm Fairytales, but definitely scary at times, so I wouldn't recommend reading these to younger children。 I wasn't sure what to expect when I started this。 The story is definitely is a wild adventure! I'm currently going down a rabbit hole (HA!) of Alice in Wonderland retellings, but I hadn't actually read the original or Through the Looking Glass before。 I've had this beautiful edition on my bookshelf for years now, so I figured it was time to finally read them。 I loved them。 And now I can better spot all the references。 Also, the White Queen is super underrated。 I'm currently going down a rabbit hole (HA!) of Alice in Wonderland retellings, but I hadn't actually read the original or Through the Looking Glass before。 I've had this beautiful edition on my bookshelf for years now, so I figured it was time to finally read them。 I loved them。 And now I can better spot all the references。 Also, the White Queen is super underrated。 。。。more

Second time reading and only a meh from me。 It’s nice because of the nostalgia and the familiar lines/scenes。 I love the mock turtle and gryphon chapter as well as the court chapter in Alice’s Adventures。 I also think the play on word meanings throughout is very clever! Through the Looking Glass is far too jumpy and random for me。 At least in Alice’s Adventures there is some continuity between each scene and person/creature she meets。 The only thing I liked from Through the Looking Glass was the Second time reading and only a meh from me。 It’s nice because of the nostalgia and the familiar lines/scenes。 I love the mock turtle and gryphon chapter as well as the court chapter in Alice’s Adventures。 I also think the play on word meanings throughout is very clever! Overall my favorite book。 This book brings new aspects to life every time you read it。 If you don't mind reading between the lines you can find many life lessons。 I would recommend this to anyone looking for an escape "down the rabbit hole"。 Overall my favorite book。 This book brings new aspects to life every time you read it。 If you don't mind reading between the lines you can find many life lessons。 I would recommend this to anyone looking for an escape "down the rabbit hole"。 。。。more

Probably my #2 favorite book, only behind "The Great Gatsby"。 It's strange but wonderful。 "Through the Looking Glass" is the better story, I feel。 A must-read。 The Disney version could only go so far! Understanding NONSENSE LITERATURE is a challenge and analysing it from the perspective of an adult of our times is yet another challenge。 I won't recommend it to all but for those who intend to venture into the world of Alice please be ready to think 6 IMPOSSIBLE THINGS BEFORE YOU HAVE YOU touch this book。 Understanding NONSENSE LITERATURE is a challenge and analysing it from the perspective of an adult of our times is yet another challenge。 I won't recommend it to all but for those who intend to venture into the world of Alice please be ready to think 6 IMPOSSIBLE THINGS BEFORE YOU HAVE YOU touch this book。 。。。more

I was torn with these books and in the end found them to just not be my kind of books to read。 I read both books back to back and really just struggled with the oddness of the story。 I knew the stories would be odd, but I wasn't prepared for them to be that crazy。 So many people analyze these books trying to understand the meaning of them and other's have said Lewis Carroll had no goal to have these works mean anything except being nonsensical stories to entertain children。 Some of it just got o I was torn with these books and in the end found them to just not be my kind of books to read。 I read both books back to back and really just struggled with the oddness of the story。 I knew the stories would be odd, but I wasn't prepared for them to be that crazy。 So many people analyze these books trying to understand the meaning of them and other's have said Lewis Carroll had no goal to have these works mean anything except being nonsensical stories to entertain children。 Some of it just got out of control with me, but I did enjoy some of the humor in it and the pictures were fun。 I did find it interesting on the differences in the stories from the movies there was and I also enjoyed Alice's Adventures In Wonderland more than Through The Looking Glass。 。。。more

Lewis Carroll is creep and no one can tell me otherwise。 I appreciate the Alice adaptations more than the source material here。

Re-reading Lewis Carroll’s poetry and stories。 What great memories of my Dad reciting Jabberwocky to our family of eight in the station wagon during Sunday drives。 He also quoted from The Hunting of the Snark as scripture。 Those along with Pogo snd Peanuts for life lessons。

Really enjoyed revisiting this fantastical tale。 Beneath the story lies a treasure trove of psychological detail to explore。 Absolutely fascinating to consider and muse on the meanings under the narrative。 Check out Wonderland X on YouTube which cleverly attempts to interpret segments of the story in the light of our current understanding of human behaviour & tendencies。

Alice's Adventures in Wonderland is about a young girl named Alice who follows a white bunny and falls down a hole into what ends up being Wonderland。 Here she experiences strange and unusual things such as talking animals, and random potions that appear out of nowhere。 I definitely recommend this book to a person who loves fantasy and magic。 If your brain is unable to picture scenarios that are different than what would happen in the real world, this book is not for you。 In the beginning, Alice Alice's Adventures in Wonderland is about a young girl named Alice who follows a white bunny and falls down a hole into what ends up being Wonderland。 Here she experiences strange and unusual things such as talking animals, and random potions that appear out of nowhere。 I definitely recommend this book to a person who loves fantasy and magic。 If your brain is unable to picture scenarios that are different than what would happen in the real world, this book is not for you。 In the beginning, Alice “was now only 10 inches high, and her face brightened up at the thought that she was now the right size for going through the little door into that lovely garden” (5)。 This quote was probably my favorite out of the entire book because it was so descriptive and I could really picture everything。 There were definitely some slow parts but you will get through them and they only last about a page。 Alice's Adventures in Wonderland will make you feel like you’ve been swept off the earth and into this world of magic。 I hope you enjoy it! 。。。more
