Summary

Nursery magic is very strange and wonderful, and only those playthings that are old and wise and experienced like the Skin Horse understand all about it。

Like the Skin Horse, Margery Williams understood how toys—and people—become real through the wisdom and experience of love。 This reissue of a favorite classic, with the original story and illustrations as they first appeared in 1922, will work its magic for all who read it。

Beautiful story with great illustrations。I read the Augmented Reality version and the come-to-life pages were so cute and educative。Although they were too short。I love little hippo books series 🦛

A new addition to my treasured shelf。 For personal reasons, I cried so much over and over while reading the 13 pages of this book。 It's about love and being Real, and probably other things too that I'm not quite ready to pinpoint but just attacked me like a wrecking ball。 It's chock full of symbolism that it's almost poetry, and it digs emotional interaction and existence so sublimely I gotta put it in my philosophical bookshelf。 Might come back later for scrutiny with hopefully more composure, A new addition to my treasured shelf。 For personal reasons, I cried so much over and over while reading the 13 pages of this book。 It's about love and being Real, and probably other things too that I'm not quite ready to pinpoint but just attacked me like a wrecking ball。 It's chock full of symbolism that it's almost poetry, and it digs emotional interaction and existence so sublimely I gotta put it in my philosophical bookshelf。 Might come back later for scrutiny with hopefully more composure, I'm too much of a watery pool on the floor now to write a proper review。 。。。more

Sad but true story, very sweet。

Just read this quickly and it's so sweet。 I wish I had read this as a child, the idea of my lost toys "becoming real" is very comforting。 - I know the lessons are a little deeper than that haha but I am the type who personifies everything, but I'm also the type who likes to get rid of stuff - see the problem? I never read this book as a child and I've always wanted to read it since it was mentioned in Friends (I, know)。 The short story is completely lovely and sweet and has a beautiful and powerful message, showing the importance and impact of love and loss and what true love really is, beyond looks and prejudice。 It's impossible not to fall in love with this story。 5 stars! "It hurts sometimes to be real, but when you are real, you won't mind being hurt。" (paraphrased) Williams delivers a tender dose of authenticity in The Velveteen Rabbit。 I first encountered this title on reddit, when someone asked what book rings different everytime they read it。 Bittersweet, this story is a quick read that will leave you thinking about what it really means to be Real。 The Rabbit's devotion and full confidence to the Boy teaches him a valuable lesson in love and in trust。 "It hurts sometimes to be real, but when you are real, you won't mind being hurt。" (paraphrased) Williams delivers a tender dose of authenticity in The Velveteen Rabbit。 I first encountered this title on reddit, when someone asked what book rings different everytime they read it。 Bittersweet, this story is a quick read that will leave you thinking about what it really means to be Real。 The Rabbit's devotion and full confidence to the Boy teaches him a valuable lesson in love and in trust。 。。。more

A friend recommended this book to our little writing group - just for the enjoyment of it。 I had heard of the book but never had a copy for my children in the 60s/70s and I don't know why not。 It is a lovely sweet story and I enjoyed it at the age of 81 for the first time! The Velveteen Rabbit was brown/white & fluffy/chubby。The boy loved what was stuffed in the stocking。 He was most thrilled about the Velveteen Rabbit。Timothy (wooden lion), Skin Horse, China (dog) lived in the nursery。Nana picked up the toys & cleaned the room when needed。 1-day the little boy & Velveteen Rabbit were playing in the yard & there was 2 real life bunnies。 What happened then? I do not receive any type of compensation for reading & reviewing free books from publishers & authors。 There The Velveteen Rabbit was brown/white & fluffy/chubby。The boy loved what was stuffed in the stocking。 He was most thrilled about the Velveteen Rabbit。Timothy (wooden lion), Skin Horse, China (dog) lived in the nursery。Nana picked up the toys & cleaned the room when needed。 1-day the little boy & Velveteen Rabbit were playing in the yard & there was 2 real life bunnies。 What happened then? I do not receive any type of compensation for reading & reviewing free books from publishers & authors。 Therefore, I am under no obligation to write a positive review, only an honest one。 An awesome book cover, great hand-drawn colored pictures, charming illustrations & proper font & writing style。 A very professionally written children’s (preschool/elementary age) classic tale storybook。 It was quite easy for me to read/follow from start/finish & never a dull moment。 There were no grammar/typo errors, nor any repetitive or out of line sequence sentences。 Lots of exciting scenarios, with several twists/turns & a great set of unique characters, settings, etc。 to keep track of。 This could also make another great children’s educational presentation (self-acceptance, diversity), Velveteen Rabbit movie, an animated cartoon, or better yet a mini-TV series。 There is no doubt in my mind this is an extremely easy rating of 5 stars。 Thank you for the free author(s); Storytime Publishing; BookZio; Amazon Digital Services LLC。; book Tony Parsons MSW (Washburn) 。。。more

While this book was quite longer than most of the other books I read, I really enjoyed the story from the perspective of the rabbit。 This book seemed a bit outdated and the vocabulary and word choice may be difficult for younger students。

I had never read The Velveteen Rabbit even though it's a classic, so I decided I would today, especially since it was referenced in our church service。 Oh, my, gosh! I'm still trying not to cry from the beauty of it all。Children's books from the 1920s often could be maudlin in their sentimentality。 This one is not。 In elegant, understated prose Ms。 Bianco tells the story of a toy rabbit who arrives one Christmas as a gift to a small boy。 At first ignored, he comes to be the child's favorite toy, I had never read The Velveteen Rabbit even though it's a classic, so I decided I would today, especially since it was referenced in our church service。 Oh, my, gosh!
