Summary

This short story is surprisingly cute and sweet。 Langlais did a fine job of writing a heavier character who loves and values herself， but still struggles with the decades of social conditioning and ingrained hatred she's absorbed from others about her size。 Shockingly， you never get over this， and anyone who claims to not understand it is being disingenuous。 （Ask almost any girl or woman what's the worst thing that could happen to her and most will tell you it's getting fat。 Yeah。） It chips at y This short story is surprisingly cute and sweet。 Langlais did a fine job of writing a heavier character who loves and values herself， but still struggles with the decades of social conditioning and ingrained hatred she's absorbed from others about her size。 Shockingly， you never get over this， and anyone who claims to not understand it is being disingenuous。 （Ask almost any girl or woman what's the worst thing that could happen to her and most will tell you it's getting fat。 Yeah。） It chips at you and on weaker days when you feel vulnerable， those old wounds reopen。 It's a constant battle to love yourself in a fat body。 Especially the insecurities of pairing with a much taller and more idealized attractive man。 It messes with your head and really does make you want to run and hide before you get a chance to be seriously hurt and undo everything you've fought so hard for。 So Teddy is a highly sympathetic and relatable character for me。 It's hard to know what size she actually is， but we do know that she's shorter and larger than all of the other women around her。Yes， Reece is a total bag of dicks in the opening of this story。 But。 He reexamines his old feelings and challenges them and gets over them pretty quickly。 That poor wolf is a glutton for punishment， but thank goodness， because a man who's willing to fight that battle on the regular and keep persisting is a gem。 。。。more

One star removed because the ‘hero’ is a ducking douche in the beginning。 He changed very quickly after she walks away from him for it， but it was a very big downer I couldn’t quite get over。 Without that I would have really loved this one。 Would have been nice to be a tad longer， but for a short read it was sweet and steamy and just what I like。
