Summary

A BIG Bear Romance。

He might growl, but she's not afraid to bite。

Hands full taking care of his clan, the last thing this Kodiak bear needs is a woman poking her cute little nose into his affairs。 But when she refuses to back down--and shows the courage to stand up to him--he can't resist the allure of a curvy city girl。

She's mine。 All mine。

And when a rival clan thinks to use her to force his paw, he'll show them why you never piss off a Kodiak, or threaten what's his。

Tammy is convinced all men are scum, even gorgeous ones like Reid Carver。 She knows he's hiding something。 Something big。 She just never expected a real freaking bear hid underneath all those yummy muscles。 But when the truth comes out and he tries to scare her off with a roar, she shows him not just bears have bite。

This book was up and down for me。 Please note, I did not go into this looking for my next incredible read (see book cover and title for reasoning)。。。 I was looking for some entertainment。 It started that way。 I liked the characters and was super intrigued with the bear shifter aspect, since this was my first bear shifter book。 The writing was decent。 The storyline about missing trucks and drivers had me intrigued。 How our characters were brought together was good。 Their chemistry was there。 And This book was up and down for me。 Please note, I did not go into this looking for my next incredible read (see book cover and title for reasoning)。。。 I was looking for some entertainment。 It started that way。 I liked the characters and was super intrigued with the bear shifter aspect, since this was my first bear shifter book。 The writing was decent。 The storyline about missing trucks and drivers had me intrigued。 How our characters were brought together was good。 Their chemistry was there。 And it kept going strong through most of it。 I knew going in it was a shorter book (not a novella, just not super long) - so you always have to change you mindset knowing that a lot needs to happen in a shorter amount of time。 So, yea you get some insta-lust, which does not bother me one bit。 Reed is a complete bossy, alpha-hole (which I love)。 He had some push in pull in his mind between going after what he wanted and his duty as an alpha。 But he was honest with Tammy the whole time, just not honest with his true feelings。 Yes he was an idiot and did extreme things like "ground" her from her phone。 Tammy is a decent heroine, especially in the beginning。 But she did start to bug me。 Okay, so I’m loving these curvy woman being our feisty heroines。 But I have to say, and I know not all will agree, I really can’t get down with hearing how “chubby” my heroine is the entire fucking book。 Seriously, she literally called herself chubby over and over again until the last chapter。 And it wasn’t in an “kiss my chubby ass” kinda way。 It was a complete bashing on herself。 She also constantly talked about how her ex talked about her weight。 I just wish she would have owned her size and amaziness - or at least once Reed told her he loved himself a curvy girl that she would have embraced it…。 She didn’t… This book was still a solid 3。5 book for me, until it wasn’t…。。 The ending… I’m going to put this in a spoiler warning here because…。 Well the author will be pissed I’m spilling the beans, but seriously, I have to talk about it…。。 。。。。。。LAST WARNING。。。。。。。。。。。Tammy gets kidnapped by the bad guy。 He knocks her unconscious。 When she wakes up she is strapped to a table and in horrible pain, and the bad guy tells her he is turning her to a shifter and basically says, Good Luck only 1 in 13 survive the transition。 He is making her one of his kind, so that every time Reed looks at her he will think of him and how he failed to protect her。 That is pretty traumatic right? Then we shift to Reeds POV, he comes in and sees her on the table, fights with bad guy to get to her。 During this fight a fire starts in the building and Tammy is suddenly whirled back to being a child where she watches her dad die in a cabin fire (unless I zoned out, this was not mentioned earlier in the story)。 So now her PTSD is kicking in and she is freaking out。 Also very traumatic right? Then Reed gets hurt and she is all of sudden completely okay, no more pain from this transition。 Fire issue completely gone。。。 Fine, I can get down with that - heat of the moment women can pick up a fucking car to save their kids and shit, right? Okay, so then bad guy gets away, Reeds tells her she is staying, she agrees。 Not once does she thinks to say “Hey that crazy lunatic said he was changing me into a shape shifter, is that true?”。 Oh and even though only 1 in 13 people survive the shift change because it is so awful, Tammy luckily only had about 3 mins of pain and then it was all good…。 SERIOUSLY THEY GO HOME AND JUST GET ON WITH IT! And we never talk about said childhood fire trauma…。。 LIKE IT NEVER FUCKING HAPPENED - LIKE WHY THE FUCK WAS THIS EVEN IN THE STORY!Then the book fast forwards a bit (I don't know how long, I was getting kinda pissed at this point and the details were not sticking), Tammy is playing with some kids and “roars” at said kids。 She freaks out and asks Reed about it…。 You want to know what he says。。。。 He just comes all blase and shit and says “You are a shape shifter” She shrieks like this is brand new info to her…。 Then he continues “I kind of suspected when I saw you strapped to the gurney, but I figured it out last night, your scent and extra vigor in bed kinda gave it away”Then 4 sentences later they are on to something else…。 Nope, that was it。 She was like "hmm, I thought he was kidding。" and then we just moved on。 Okay, I know I read a book about bear fucking shifters so asking for some realistic shit is kinda stupid but come on!! That ending was just complete bullshit。 I totally didn't mean for this to be a long review, but sometimes shit just gets away with you。 I'm actually 90% certain my review is longer than the actual end of this book。 Whatever。 Moving the fuck on! DNF @ 70%This is my 5th EL book, and my 3rd DNF。 I think it’s time to admit I’m just not that into her。 Most of her books have a feisty female and a bossy alpha。 There’s also fluffy smut, and a light/silly feel to the book。 Kodiak’s Claim started out interesting enough with Tammy BBQing her cheating ex’s possessions, but it went down hill from there。 I’m a visual reader so I do like a physical description, but really hate labels。 Basically, tell me what they look like, but don’t stereotype or pl DNF @ 70%This is my 5th EL book, and my 3rd DNF。 I think it’s time to admit I’m just not that into her。 Most of her books have a feisty female and a bossy alpha。 There’s also fluffy smut, and a light/silly feel to the book。 Kodiak’s Claim started out interesting enough with Tammy BBQing her cheating ex’s possessions, but it went down hill from there。 I’m a visual reader so I do like a physical description, but really hate labels。 Basically, tell me what they look like, but don’t stereotype or place in a cliché group。 Tammy is curvy, that’s all I need, but she’s lumped into the “curvy girl” label/cliché and everything that goes with it。 I don’t mind BBW, it’s just that authors almost always make them have the same personality… which conflicts with the message they’re trying to sell。 That curvy woman can/should be confident。 For example…She dates a prick that thinks she’s fat。 She has enough pride to refuse to change for him, but not enough to break up with the ass until he cheats。 (even though he’s constantly insulting her。The author constantly tells us how confident she is, but shows us an insecure girl by having her CONSTANTLY justify that she’s cool with being chubby while acting like a victim, and needing constant validation that she’s attractive。 She also has to be judgey towards “skinny gals” turning her into the exact thing she’s been complaining about。Rather than empowering her, she’s given a snarky/borderline bitchy attitude and defined by being chubby but cute, and liking to eat。 Weight, food, curves, fat, plump, plush is all that defines her。The rest is a tale of animal attraction and unsuitable mate material…cuz she’s human。 Again, she rolls over giving into a man that isn’t accepting of her。 Bottom Line- I felt like the author put much more effort into reminding us of the h’s waist size than creating an interesting story, and I was bored a lot。 Reid is super bossy, but quite flat。 Most of his decisions are based on getting laid。 I felt zero chemistry between the two。 It’s like their entire relationship is based on her having curves to hold onto, and him being a big strong bear shifter that makes her look small, and can carry her。 。。。more

Okay this story was honestly a little farfetched for me but the characters, in particular the absolute badass cast iron pan wielding, great aim with a shot gun, snarky to the moon, curvy as heck insurance investigator taking on a freaking bear shifter was just fabulous。

Poor Tammy! This city slicker insurance adjuster got sent to a small Alaskan town in the middle of nowhere。 What is a urban city girl to do? Fortunately, the local scenery is snow-meltingly hawt and seems to appreciate a girl who enjoys her food。 Stay with the hawt eye candy or go back to Starbucks in the big city? Decisions, decisions。。。。。

I love Eve Langlais's books and her sense of humor。 This series is about a clan of various types of shifters in Alaska。 It's not over the top silly like some of her books, but still has plenty of doses of funny banter and sexy times, with some good suspense thrown in。 Tammy is an insurance adjuster sent to Kodiak, Alaska after several trailers belonging to Reid Carver go missing。 The two have an instant attraction, but Tammy doesn't know that Reid is a bear shifter。 I likes how fearless and stro I love Eve Langlais's books and her sense of humor。 This series is about a clan of various types of shifters in Alaska。 It's not over the top silly like some of her books, but still has plenty of doses of funny banter and sexy times, with some good suspense thrown in。 Tammy is an insurance adjuster sent to Kodiak, Alaska after several trailers belonging to Reid Carver go missing。 The two have an instant attraction, but Tammy doesn't know that Reid is a bear shifter。 I likes how fearless and strong Tammy was - great characters in this book! 。。。more

This was an okay read。 Not too heavy, not even that hot, but some light comedy and small plot。 Definitely not the best book by this author。 The heroine, Tammy, was more or less a contradiction。 One moment she was so satisfied with her looks and her attitude embracing her curves。 The next, she was always showing her insecurities constantly seeking reassurance from Reid。 I did like that they gave her a few quirks, the the pjs。 Reid was somewhat 2D, a cookie-cutter alpha type male with not a great This was an okay read。 Not too heavy, not even that hot, but some light comedy and small plot。 Definitely not the best book by this author。 The heroine, Tammy, was more or less a contradiction。 One moment she was so satisfied with her looks and her attitude embracing her curves。 The next, she was always showing her insecurities constantly seeking reassurance from Reid。 I did like that they gave her a few quirks, the the pjs。 Reid was somewhat 2D, a cookie-cutter alpha type male with not a great deal of back story。 Also, I wasn't satisfied with the development of the supporting characters。 Overall just a HEA(ish) okay book。 。。。more

Bringing on the heatThe story is endearing, the characters amazing and the excitement and danger enthralling。 Overall this is a perfect beginning to a new series。 The only thing missing is a little more backstory about a few things, so we knew what drove them to their actions, but with 5 more books I’m sure the intensity will increase overtime。 I really enjoyed this book and can’t wait to move onto the next one。

Ehh, there wasn't really much to this。 I don't think there was anything necessarily *bad* about it, it just wasn't all that great。 The start was okay, the set up was fine and the same could be said for everything beyond that point。 The main leads didn't really have any chemistry so I found myself hesitant to back their relationship - not to mention that everything occurred within about 3, maybe 4, days。 I also found the whole think Ursula and Jan did to be stupid, it just felt like a cheap way f Ehh, there wasn't really much to this。 I don't think there was anything necessarily *bad* about it, it just wasn't all that great。 The start was okay, the set up was fine and the same could be said for everything beyond that point。 The main leads didn't really have any chemistry so I found myself hesitant to back their relationship - not to mention that everything occurred within about 3, maybe 4, days。 I also found the whole think Ursula and Jan did to be stupid, it just felt like a cheap way for the author to make the main leads realise their interest - no thanks。 This entire book just felt like it was setting up for the next, which is okay in small quantities, but with this one, just nothing felt real。 Not to mention every two seconds Tammy would be going on about being chubby。 That would be fine had it been a plot point but it just wasn't。 We understand that she's giving men a break because her ex's had been judgmental about it, but that wasn't really an issue when Reid came into the picture。 He was fine from the get-go。 I'd also like to mention that it really bothers me that the author made such a big deal out of the chubby thing but then went and got the least chubby woman to ever exist to be on the cover。 No。 Thanks。 Overall。。。it was meh。 Even the sex scenes were boring and repetitive。 。。。more
