Summary

She was given two choices。。。

Georgiana Bridgerton isn't against the idea of marriage。 She'd just thought she'd have some say in the matter。 But with her reputation hanging by a thread after she's abducted for her dowry, Georgie is given two options: live out her life as a spinster or marry the rogue who has ruined her life。

Enter Option #3

As the fourth son of an earl, Nicholas Rokesby is prepared to chart his own course。 He has a life in Edinburgh, where he's close to completing his medical studies, and he has no time -- or interest -- to find a wife。 But when he discovers that Georgie Bridgerton -- his literal girl-next-door -- is facing ruin, he knows what he must do。

A Marriage of Convenience

It might not have been the most romantic of proposals, but Nicholas never thought she'd say no。 Georgie doesn't want to be anyone's sacrifice, and besides, they could never think of each other as anything more than childhood friends。。。 or could they?

But as they embark upon their unorthodox courtship they discover a new twist to the age-old rhyme。 First comes scandal, then comes marriage。 But after that comes love。。。

The last Bridgerton prequel brings the youngest Rokesby and Bridgerton together under less than ideal circumstances。 Usual romantic story, what is almost more fun is a mention of Lady Danbury and the appearance of the first 3 Bridgertons as children, Colin with his huge appetite even as a baby。

First Comes Scandal is the fourth book in Julia Quinn's Rokesbys's series。 This is the story of Georgiana and Nicholas, two friends who have known each other forever and end up basically being forced to marry due to circumstances。 I believe that in the past, there were many cases where siblings married their spouse's siblings or family members but in the current day, it is not common and seems weird。 The bizarre thing to me is they went from friends to loving each other rather quickly。 The two o First Comes Scandal is the fourth book in Julia Quinn's Rokesbys's series。 This is the story of Georgiana and Nicholas, two friends who have known each other forever and end up basically being forced to marry due to circumstances。 I believe that in the past, there were many cases where siblings married their spouse's siblings or family members but in the current day, it is not common and seems weird。 The bizarre thing to me is they went from friends to loving each other rather quickly。 The two of them have shared interests, however, desire and attraction aren't just a switch you can turn on。 Also, the whole cat storyline was absolutely ridiculous。 Overall, I enjoyed the book and the series and am sad it is over。 I'll just have to find another Julia Quinn series to enjoy#FirstComesScandal #Rokesbys #Romance #AdultFiction #ChickLit #GraphicSexScenes #FriendsToLovers #FriendsLikeFamily #Audiobook #April #2021 。。。more

This was a fun read。 I've not read any of the other books or seen any of the Netflix series but I'm going to rectify that omission。 I look forward to reading more about the Bridgertons。 This was a fun read。 I've not read any of the other books or seen any of the Netflix series but I'm going to rectify that omission。 I look forward to reading more about the Bridgertons。 。。。more

There's this scene with Georgiana's cats。 All of them are trapped in baskets for a long carriage ride to their new home, and one of the scraggly bastards is making life miserable for everyone involved。It makes listening to the audiobook 100% worth it。 Swear to god, Rosalyn Landor had me crying。 She does the yowling, highly indignant cat to absolute perfection。 In fact, she pretty much does every character in Julia Quinn's books to perfection。 I honestly don't think I'd find her books half as fu There's this scene with Georgiana's cats。 All of them are trapped in baskets for a long carriage ride to their new home, and one of the scraggly bastards is making life miserable for everyone involved。It makes listening to the audiobook 100% worth it。 Swear to god, Rosalyn Landor had me crying。 She does the yowling, highly indignant cat to absolute perfection。 In fact, she pretty much does every character in Julia Quinn's books to perfection。 I honestly don't think I'd find her books half as funny without Landor reading them to me。As for the rest of the story? It's cute。Georgiana is compromised in the eyes of society through no fault of her own, having been 'kidnapped' and taken for a carriage ride by a fortune hunter。 Her old family friend and neighbor, Nicholas, gets pressured into asking her to marry him to avoid her ruination, and she's out of options and has to say, yes。 Well, sort of。 Quinn does a decent job making that weird situation palatable。He's studying to be a doctor and she is an intelligent young woman who would love to have the chance to travel and work in that field, as well。Anyway。 Like I said, it's cute and (due to the cats) one of the funnier and more memorable of Quinn's stories。 <--for me 。。。more

Another fun prequel for fans of the Bridgertons。 Georgianna Bridgerton has a dilemma。 She managed to escape from the bankrupt rogue who kidnapped her for her inheritance。 But now her reputation is in shreds。 She could marry the cad or plan to live a life of spinsterhood。 She is already close to that second choice anyway at the ripe old age of 26。 But then a third option is presented。 Georgianna has known Nicholas Rokesby for her entire life。 He is the fourth son of a neighboring earl and a close Another fun prequel for fans of the Bridgertons。 Georgianna Bridgerton has a dilemma。 She managed to escape from the bankrupt rogue who kidnapped her for her inheritance。 But now her reputation is in shreds。 She could marry the cad or plan to live a life of spinsterhood。 She is already close to that second choice anyway at the ripe old age of 26。 But then a third option is presented。 Georgianna has known Nicholas Rokesby for her entire life。 He is the fourth son of a neighboring earl and a close friend of one of her brothers。 Nicholas is in Edinburgh studying medicine when he receives an urgent message from his father to return home immediately。 Fearing a family emergency, Nicholas gets an extension on his exams and starts the long journey back to the family estate。 He is flummoxed to discover that his father intends that Nicholas should marry Georgianna to preserve her reputation。 A most unusual courtship is followed by a most unconventional honeymoon。 Julia Quinn's writing is bright and funny。 I lost count of how many times that I laughed out loud while reading the story。 She was heading for a 5 star rating until the most unsatisfactory ending。 It felt like she had gotten tired of writing this novel。 The narrative pretty much stopped and was followed by a "and they lived happily ever after" epilogue that takes place a few years later。 I would have loved more detail on those missing years。 But First Comes Scandal is still a mostly fun and fast read for Bridgeton fans。 。。。more

I lied that Julia Quinn kept developing their relationship after the marriage!

Another truly enjoyable read, especially if you don't take it too seriously。 Nice introduction to Edmund, Violet, and the start of *that* Bridgerton clan, but the butlers were truly the scene-stealers。 Another truly enjoyable read, especially if you don't take it too seriously。 Nice introduction to Edmund, Violet, and the start of *that* Bridgerton clan, but the butlers were truly the scene-stealers。 。。。more

I love Julia Quinn's work, especially this series。 But I think it would be better if it were a trilogy。 Judging by the title I thought it would be a thrilling reading but it ended up being plain boring。 The only thing I liked was Violet and Edmund brief participation。 I love Julia Quinn's work, especially this series。 But I think it would be better if it were a trilogy。 Judging by the title I thought it would be a thrilling reading but it ended up being plain boring。 The only thing I liked was Violet and Edmund brief participation。 。。。more

I loved it。I really liked both of the main characters。 There were quite different from the brazen and rogue characters I've been reading。 They were just 2 reasonable and nice people who were brought together by a situation and who slowly fell in love。It's true there wasn't an actual plot but frankly I think I prefered it this way。 Although the ending felt quite abrupt as if Quinn didn't know what to do with them so she stopped。 I wanted a lot more of their married life。 It's how much I connected I loved it。I really liked both of the main characters。 There were quite different from the brazen and rogue characters I've been reading。 They were just 2 reasonable and nice people who were brought together by a situation and who slowly fell in love。It's true there wasn't an actual plot but frankly I think I prefered it this way。 Although the ending felt quite abrupt as if Quinn didn't know what to do with them so she stopped。 I wanted a lot more of their married life。 It's how much I connected with them, I wanted to keep on following their life and their marriage。 The prologue was far too short to satisfy that。 。。。more

Começou muito bem; no meio estava engraçadíssimo, mas no fim ficou cansativo。 De qualquer maneira, um ótimo livro。 Fechou a Tetralogia dos Rokesbys muito bem。 Obrigada pelo mimo, Julia

Loved this romance between 2 childhood friends who never saw each other as anything but friends, fall in love and then become a competent doctor-wife doctor team :)

Tentu saja。 Dan, yg cukup menarik, akhirnya kutemukan the v hero selain mas2 d buku kedua seri Highlandernya Maya Banks。 Kaget jg sih, tp melihat kelakuan Nicholas yg too gentleman ini ya mmg mungkin terjadi sih, hmpfh。 3,5*/5 untuk dialog2 dinamis Georgie dan Nicholas 。。。more

I adored this Bridgerton prequel so much。 It was funny, cute, sweet, and such a quick read。 But I especially loved reading a smart, capable and persistent woman in this period world, and that her endeavors were encouraged by her husband。 This is a perfect light read, as well as the ideal beach read。 I also recommend the audiobook - as with all the other Bridgerton books I've listened to audiobook, it is narrated wonderfully。 I adored this Bridgerton prequel so much。 It was funny, cute, sweet, and such a quick read。 But I especially loved reading a smart, capable and persistent woman in this period world, and that her endeavors were encouraged by her husband。 This is a perfect light read, as well as the ideal beach read。 I also recommend the audiobook - as with all the other Bridgerton books I've listened to audiobook, it is narrated wonderfully。 。。。more

I liked this one, but not quite as much as the others in the series。 The butlers and the cat were honestly the best part。 I did like Georgiana’s interest in medicine like Nicholas, while his proposal was not for romantic reasons, I think they obviously suit really well。

I absolutely love Julia Quinn novels, and this one did not disappoint。 This novel shows the true depth of the relationship between the Rokesbys and Bridgertons。 Although the circumstances were unfortunate, I am glad that Georgie and Nicholas were brought together to realize their happily ever after was always right under their noses。 Although this romance is slow to bloom, Julia Quinn's ability to bring characters to life with everyday conversations made me laugh (especially the scenes with Geor I absolutely love Julia Quinn novels, and this one did not disappoint。 This novel shows the true depth of the relationship between the Rokesbys and Bridgertons。 Although the circumstances were unfortunate, I am glad that Georgie and Nicholas were brought together to realize their happily ever after was always right under their noses。 Although this romance is slow to bloom, Julia Quinn's ability to bring characters to life with everyday conversations made me laugh (especially the scenes with Georgie's cats), swoon, and eagerly turn to the next page。 I even learned a few things about the history of medicine。 The characters were charming, and I love how Nicholas and Georgie met each other as equals。 Even though they had help from their families, it was sweet to watch the two set up their new lives together as partners in Scotland。 。。。more

Super enjoyable and very quick read。 As with most of Julia Quinn’s novels, it’s more about the dialogue than the plot。 If you like period pieces and enjoy witty banter, give this series a whirl。

I liked Nicholas and Georgie's story。 I love a rake, but it was nice to read about a gentleman for a change。 As the last book of a series, though, it left a lot to be desired。 It felt more like a novella than a series closer。 If you are a fan of the Bridgertons series looking for a light read, you will enjoy this sweet story。 However, you're a fan of any kind of internal or external conflict to drive the story, or of something testing the relationship and forging it into a stronger bond, you wil I liked Nicholas and Georgie's story。 I love a rake, but it was nice to read about a gentleman for a change。 As the last book of a series, though, it left a lot to be desired。 It felt more like a novella than a series closer。 If you are a fan of the Bridgertons series looking for a light read, you will enjoy this sweet story。 However, you're a fan of any kind of internal or external conflict to drive the story, or of something testing the relationship and forging it into a stronger bond, you will be disappointed。 。。。more
