A fantastic and fun sequel to the first book in this series。 I enjoyed the trove of new characters, but that the story redeemed some of the older characters as well。 Chris Grabenstein once again makes this fun, humorous and full of library and book trivia, which us book lovers LOVE。

This book isn't a favourite but I liked it。First off, Mr。 Lemoncello was a little 。。。 weird。 And I agreed that he didn't like libraries "qua" libraries。Marjory was the best and Kyle was really annoying at times。 Even Sierra。I will probably re-read it if I am getting bored and not otherwise。 This book isn't a favourite but I liked it。First off, Mr。 Lemoncello was a little 。。。 weird。 And I agreed that he didn't like libraries "qua" libraries。Marjory was the best and Kyle was really annoying at times。 Even Sierra。I will probably re-read it if I am getting bored and not otherwise。 。。。more

This book was probably my favorite book this week。 It had so much imagination and it made me wonder if there really is a Lemoncello library out there。 I loved the comic relief and the hilarious action this book had in store。 This is amazing and deserves 5 stars。

Kyle Keeley and his friends have been living the high life since winning Mr。 Lemoncello's first library contest。 Mr。 Lemoncello has the coolest library on Earth, and the children are pleased to be linked to it, not to mention they love the fame that comes with doing commercials for such a fun place。 When the rest of the country argues that Kyle's team may not have won if the contest had been opened up to more contestants, Mr。 Lemoncello decides to hold a second competition。 This one is styled af Kyle Keeley and his friends have been living the high life since winning Mr。 Lemoncello's first library contest。 Mr。 Lemoncello has the coolest library on Earth, and the children are pleased to be linked to it, not to mention they love the fame that comes with doing commercials for such a fun place。 When the rest of the country argues that Kyle's team may not have won if the contest had been opened up to more contestants, Mr。 Lemoncello decides to hold a second competition。 This one is styled after the Olympics, with a 4-person team from each region of the U。S。A。 competing in 12 different games。 Kyle, Sierra, Miguel, and Akimi get to work practicing all of the skills they can imagine being important, determined to hold on to their title as Library Champions。 Soon the games are underway, and clearly mischief is afoot。 Previously disqualified contestants Charles Chiltington and Andrew Peckleman seem to be making some trouble for the event, as do their families。 Kyle and his friends are quite focused on winning enough medals to be crowned champions, however they can't ignore that books have gone missing and Mr。 Lemoncello is very out-of-sorts。 Plus Mrs。 Gause, the virtual librarian, keeps throwing hints their way。 They may just have to solve all of the games/puzzles while also solving a mystery if they want to keep this fantastic library in their town, and all the books on the shelves。Mr。 Lemoncello's Library Olympics is just as fun as the first book in the series, if not more-so。 Readers are presented with the same puzzles as the Olympians, and given a chance to solve them。 Contestants then work them out in the text, so that the answers are explained and the reader is not left pondering what just happened。 The kids are learning and growing throughout the event, with a real "moment-of-truth" towards the end。 There are some deep themes covered, such as banned books and freedom of speech, with a surprise reveal about the motives at the end。 The dilemma between individual accomplishments and teamwork for the greater good was another interesting theme explored to a surprising end。 Grabenstein calls out a number of works across a broad spectrum of literary genres, encouraging his readership to expand their horizon。 The puzzles and riddles are fun and challenging, and the children who solve them are quite the inspiration。 This is a great sequel to the first book in the series, and leaves it open to many possibilities for future stories。 I only wish there were such a library, and I can only hope that we continue to see libraries as fun and important places to preserve。 。。。more

Another fun book!!Fun games in the library!!

Lindsey

A bit too predictable, but still a fun book about libraries。

I found myself agreeing with and rooting for the Chiltintons。 All the electronic nonsense does defeat the purpose of a library。 The ending made no sense。 This was about free speech? Of all the defenses of free speech I have ever heard, the argument that people have the right to read about a squirrel is the least interesting, least controversial one I have ever heard。 My son disagrees。 How many more of these books are left?

Loved this read aloud with my boys! Mr。 Lemoncello is a book lover, just like us。 We love hearing about all the fun going on in his library。 Both of my boys have been really interested in these books。 They have a good message about essentially doing what is right, regardless of any possibility of personal gain。

Mr。 Lemoncello's Library Olympics by Chris Grabenstein is about a boy named Kyle and three of his friends。 This is the second book of the series in the first book he and his three friends won a competition and they got to be on all of Mr。 Lemoncello commercials。 In the second book Mr。 Lemoncello was getting a lot of mail that other kids in the country didn't get a chance to be in Mr。 Lemoncello's commercials they were mad。 So Mr。 Lemoncello had the first library Olympics with kids in the whole c Mr。 Lemoncello's Library Olympics by Chris Grabenstein is about a boy named Kyle and three of his friends。 This is the second book of the series in the first book he and his three friends won a competition and they got to be on all of Mr。 Lemoncello commercials。 In the second book Mr。 Lemoncello was getting a lot of mail that other kids in the country didn't get a chance to be in Mr。 Lemoncello's commercials they were mad。 So Mr。 Lemoncello had the first library Olympics with kids in the whole country there were eights teams of four kids, and one of the teams was the home team Kyle's team, they were going to see if the home town would win or if another team would win。 But then books started disappearing and people were acting weird。 I recommend this book because it has a lot of suspense and a lot of suprising things! I would also reccomend this book to people who like cliffhangers。 。。。more

I think I may have liked this one better than the first in the series。 I loved all the book references and puzzles to figure out throughout the book。 This one also has some great messages for kids!

[3。5] I did still enjoying reading this book but it seemed too similar to the first book in my opinion。 I also wish Haley was in the book [she leaves in the first chapter]。

I liked the first book better。 There is a running theme in the series, I think, of kids working together to achieve whatever, and I think that is nice。 But, it makes an appearance too late in the book and by then I was quite annoyed with almost all the kids, especially Kyle and Marjory。 I am going to eventually read this with my son, and he’s probably going to like this more than I did。 It’s quite hilarious, I kept thinking that my son hasn’t yet figured out that he can memorize the Dewey Decima I liked the first book better。 There is a running theme in the series, I think, of kids working together to achieve whatever, and I think that is nice。 But, it makes an appearance too late in the book and by then I was quite annoyed with almost all the kids, especially Kyle and Marjory。 I am going to eventually read this with my son, and he’s probably going to like this more than I did。 It’s quite hilarious, I kept thinking that my son hasn’t yet figured out that he can memorize the Dewey Decimal System, and when he reads this book he will, and he’ll fit right in with the rest of the kids。 I’ll admit that I thought Marjory had a good point, a library doesn’t need to have all the gimmicks this library did。 I found it horribly annoying that the place closed for quite a bit of time, first to set up for a library olympics and then while the thing was going on。 Reading during covid here but I’ve been able to place holds and collect books at all times。 It takes longer but I still have the ability。 This library nope。 And there wasn’t even a global pandemic。 It wasn’t bad, but I found Kyle’s obsession with winning off-putting。 He stressed out about it so badly, so the change of heart at the end didn’t quite ring true。 。。。more

After their big win in Mr。 Lemoncello's escape game, Team Keeley is challenged by basically every kid in the country。 They all want their chance at stardom (starring in commercials for Mr。 Lemoncello games) and are unhappy that the contest was so localized。 So Mr。 Lemoncello grants them their wish, because hey, that means he gets to create more games! The top teams in each region of the country are chosen and invited to Ohio to compete for full college scholarships--against Kyle's team。 The only After their big win in Mr。 Lemoncello's escape game, Team Keeley is challenged by basically every kid in the country。 They all want their chance at stardom (starring in commercials for Mr。 Lemoncello games) and are unhappy that the contest was so localized。 So Mr。 Lemoncello grants them their wish, because hey, that means he gets to create more games! The top teams in each region of the country are chosen and invited to Ohio to compete for full college scholarships--against Kyle's team。 The only problem is that Kyle isn't so sure he's up to the challenge this time。After the pure fun I had with the first book, I knew this wouldn't be able to be quite the same。 For one thing, it's not so much with the escape room aspect anymore。 There are puzzles involved in the games, but it's not nearly the same as it was in the first book。 However, it's still a fun read, and even has a bit of mystery。 So while I didn't quite enjoy it as much as I did the first book in the series, it was still good。For all the similarities to Willy Wonka in the first book, this had even more。 Including a particular bit that I guessed at from early on, comparing a character to a role in Roald Dahl's book。 Even still, though, the book did keep me guessing a bit as I waited to see if I was right。 And unlike the "justice" in Wonka's world, it's nice to see some of the "bad" kids have a change of heart by the end of this book。In my review of the first book, I mentioned that it was unrealistic how much knowledge some of these kids have--Kyle is about the only one who doesn't come across like he lives and breathes books and studying。 That was much more noticeable this time。 Still overall, it's a good book, fun for kids, and I continue to recommend it for kids around 8-12 and for parents, especially those who like games。 。。。more

A fun extension of this universe featuring a new competition yet the same emphasis on the importance of books, libraries and knowledge。 Even though its inclusion is brief, I like how Grabenstein has incorporated the concept of banned books into the story for younger readers to understand。 There is a completely ridiculous plot twist revealed in the final act that would surely collapse upon further inspection but who cares, this was very enjoyable。 The one thing that I missed from choosing the aud A fun extension of this universe featuring a new competition yet the same emphasis on the importance of books, libraries and knowledge。 Even though its inclusion is brief, I like how Grabenstein has incorporated the concept of banned books into the story for younger readers to understand。 There is a completely ridiculous plot twist revealed in the final act that would surely collapse upon further inspection but who cares, this was very enjoyable。 The one thing that I missed from choosing the audiobook over the print edition is playing along with the various puzzles。 。。。more

If I was reading this on my own it would be 3。5 stars, but I read this aloud to my 5 year old and 7 year old and they had a lot of fun with it。 I think the first book was more engrossing than this one and we moved through it a lot faster。 The nature of the library games made book one more intriguing and a couple things in this book felt a little convoluted to me, but it was still a fun concept and a fun read。 All the bookish references and library love adds extra appeal。 My kids are going to lis If I was reading this on my own it would be 3。5 stars, but I read this aloud to my 5 year old and 7 year old and they had a lot of fun with it。 I think the first book was more engrossing than this one and we moved through it a lot faster。 The nature of the library games made book one more intriguing and a couple things in this book felt a little convoluted to me, but it was still a fun concept and a fun read。 All the bookish references and library love adds extra appeal。 My kids are going to listen to the next book as an audiobook on their own and we’re going to move on to a different book for our family read aloud。 。。。more

So I was scared to read this book because I didn't want it to be horrible! XD Then I made a bookswap deal with a friend and the first book was one of the books I chose for him。 I figured that I should continue this series so I would know if I should have him read these too or to just pretend Escape from Mr。 Lemoncello's Library was a stand alone book。 I really enjoyed this book, although I think I liked the first book more but that's okay So I was scared to read this book because I didn't want it to be horrible!
