This book reminded me of the first book in the series: The Escape from Mr Lemoncello's Library。 The theme was to escape (again) just with different challenges facing the characters。 I found this book more interesting than the other books in the series。 It is taking the idea from the first book but the challenges and games are a bit different and there are new characters appearing in the book (I really like it when new characters appear) You could read it when you want something fun and easy to r This book reminded me of the first book in the series: The Escape from Mr Lemoncello's Library。 The theme was to escape (again) just with different challenges facing the characters。 I found this book more interesting than the other books in the series。 It is taking the idea from the first book but the challenges and games are a bit different and there are new characters appearing in the book (I really like it when new characters appear) You could read it when you want something fun and easy to read。 。。。more

Not as good as the others。I do like this series, but this one was a different creature。 Yes, it was primarily about character development- which I generally appreciate- but this developments was just done clunkily。 Also, the book references were almost an afterthought。

Such a magical books, would definitely recommend。

(3。5 / 5)If Kyle Keeley and his team thought the previous Lemoncello game was big, they haven't seen anything yet。 The next competition Kyle's hero has dreamed up will be broadcast live on national television! And the winners will get to choose one from their team to be the host of a new kids' game show, while the rest of the team are the first contestants。 It's game on as Kyle is up against his nemesis Charles Chiltington and some other competitors that will be tough to beat。These books are beg (3。5 / 5)If Kyle Keeley and his team thought the previous Lemoncello game was big, they haven't seen anything yet。 The next competition Kyle's hero has dreamed up will be broadcast live on national television! And the winners will get to choose one from their team to be the host of a new kids' game show, while the rest of the team are the first contestants。 It's game on as Kyle is up against his nemesis Charles Chiltington and some other competitors that will be tough to beat。These books are beginning to become a bit formulaic, which is probably not good for this type of book。 Kyle almost can't compete for some reason, and then he can。 Kyle/his team stops normal game play to solve some side mystery/issue。 (view spoiler)[Kyle/his team wins almost by default because all or most of the other kids/teams were disqualified or gave up or joined Kyle's team。 (hide spoiler)] Considering how much I loved the first book, I want to continue enjoying this series。 But it's starting to become repetitive and just silly。 I did like the game, putting the kids into their own fictional stories in a way like holodecks work in Star Trek shows。 Who of us hasn't wanted to be able to do that? I still miss the more escape room, puzzle-y nature of the first book, though。 There was a tiny bit of that again here, with 5 locks to open per team, but the puzzles, riddles, etc。 that gave the codes were a lot lighter this time around。I really appreciated that the game forced the kids (or at least Kyle) to see the "bad guy" in a new light。 I only wish a little more had come from that。 The thing that bugged me the most as I read this book was the dialog。 I don't know if this is new to this book, or if I simply didn't notice it before, but all of the kids seem to talk the same way, in a particular format that I began to find grating。 I won't take the time to explain what I mean, because it seems really petty, but it happened enough that it started to bring the rest of the story down for me。 And seriously。。。the TV-star kids were just over-the-top silly and ridiculous in their shticks。I wonder if maybe they wouldn't feel so formulaic if I wasn't reading through them so quickly。 It's hard to know。 I also want to stress that this book is meant for kids around 8-12 years old, and the things that bother me may well not be noticeable to them。 My 10-year-old daughter loved this book as much as the previous ones, and I think that's important to remember。 。。。more

Mr。 Lemoncello is getting into escape rooms! And the prize this time is hosting a TV game show! But can the hometown heroes do what it takes? This installment explores fiction, and ultimately what we get out of reading fiction - empathy for another point of view。

Another brilliantly creative adventure with the kids from Alexandriaville Middle School! With a chance to host a televised game show on the line, Kyle and his friends must work together and get out of their comfort zones in order to once again break out of Mr。 Lemoncello's Library。 But this time their nemesis Charles Chitlington isn't the only obstacle standing between them and victory。 Another brilliantly creative adventure with the kids from Alexandriaville Middle School! Chris Grabenstein has managed to keep this endearing series fresh and interesting, and we enjoyed this fourth book quite well。 There's good continuity from book to book, but forward movement, as well。 As previously mentioned, highly reminiscent of the Willy Wonka books。 The numerous literary references, and the general celebrating of books and reading, are appreciated and fun。 Chris Grabenstein has managed to keep this endearing series fresh and interesting, and we enjoyed this fourth book quite well。 There's good continuity from book to book, but forward movement, as well。 As previously mentioned, highly reminiscent of the Willy Wonka books。 The numerous literary references, and the general celebrating of books and reading, are appreciated and fun。 。。。more

This continues a line of great books for families and children to read together。 There are so many messages that can be extracted from the book, but they aren't "in your face" like so many messages can be。 Seeing things from other people's perspectives can create the empathy that so many of us are desperately in need of。 A great next book in a fantastic series! I enjoyed this story a lot。 I love this series by Chris Grabenstein, and this still has the wonderful qualities I love about this series。 The puzzles, clues, books hinted at, books quoted, books mentioned, the zany Mr。 Lemoncello, and the coolest library on earth。 There were just a few things I didn’t enjoy as much about this particular book。I felt like the perspective hopped around more than normal。 Usually the main character is very clearly Kyle, but in this one it seemed like he was the main I enjoyed this story a lot。 I love this series by Chris Grabenstein, and this still has the wonderful qualities I love about this series。 The puzzles, clues, books hinted at, books quoted, books mentioned, the zany Mr。 Lemoncello, and the coolest library on earth。 There were just a few things I didn’t enjoy as much about this particular book。I felt like the perspective hopped around more than normal。 Usually the main character is very clearly Kyle, but in this one it seemed like he was the main character a bit less。 This may have been partly for perspective on a main theme of this book, but I didn’t enjoy it, and think that maybe the point could have been made without doing it quite as much。 I also felt like the kid characters in this book were extra whiny。 Kyle’s character and a couple others weren’t, but the majority complained about everything。 Like seriously, they are getting a once in a lifetime chance to play one of the coolest, if not the coolest, televised games ever and they are composing about it。。。!!! What?!?????! I think there were better ways to point out they where out of their comfort zones。Besides that, I really did enjoy the book。 The theme of fiction being a way for people to empathize with each other was great, and I think true。 Sometimes I think some politicians should read more fiction and then maybe they would empathize and better understand the people they are supposed to be leading。 。。。more

This book was AWESOME。 Awesome。 The other books in the series was also really good。 I think that the best part of this book is when Kyle's team stops chiligton because it shows that tehy actually care about the library and Mr。 Lemoncello not just trying to win the prize and doesn't care about anything else。 This book was AWESOME。 Awesome。 The other books in the series was also really good。 I think that the best part of this book is when Kyle's team stops chiligton because it shows that tehy actually care about the library and Mr。 Lemoncello not just trying to win the prize and doesn't care about anything else。 。。。more

Mr。 Lemoncello does it again with another contest that pits teams of middle schoolers against each other, and this time one of the teams includes celebrities。 I appreciated Grabenstein's author's notes at the end of the book, a peek into both of characters' names and his rationale for how he handled the other characters with regard to Charles Sheltington (sp) in this fourth book。 I hope there are more books in this series! A disappointing addition to an otherwise excellent series。 This book felt as though it was written in a hurry, borrowing heavily from previous books and creating increasingly unbelievable scenarios with less and less of the actual trivia or puzzle-solving which made its predecessors shine。

The punny funny booky wooky all-ages welcome MG series continues with this installment's satirical focus on tween TV。 Author Grabenstein shifts the story spotlight onto the series villain to boost readers' empathy for others, be it friend or foe。 May we all remember lessons learned at younger ages irregardless of stations, televised or on a private channel。 The punny funny booky wooky all-ages welcome MG series continues with this installment's satirical focus on tween TV。 Author Grabenstein shifts the story spotlight onto the series villain to boost readers' empathy for others, be it friend or foe。 May we all remember lessons learned at younger ages irregardless of stations, televised or on a private channel。 。。。more

Kyle and his friends team up to compete in a virtual reality fantasy game show against kid show stars and their nemesis Charles’s team。 In each stage of the competition, a genre is chosen for the team to play through and this genre is one of the teammate’s exact least favorite genre to read。 As the teams progress through the game show, the genres start to get mixed up, as do the teams。 Along the way, Kyle also learns what it is like to walk in Charles’s shoes。 While this book did not tackle any Kyle and his friends team up to compete in a virtual reality fantasy game show against kid show stars and their nemesis Charles’s team。 In each stage of the competition, a genre is chosen for the team to play through and this genre is one of the teammate’s exact least favorite genre to read。 As the teams progress through the game show, the genres start to get mixed up, as do the teams。 Along the way, Kyle also learns what it is like to walk in Charles’s shoes。 While this book did not tackle any big literary problems like the last two books, this one did offer the same zany literary experience。 I felt that many of the references to books in this book were extremely well done, and you almost do not recognize the connection unless you had already read or knew about the other book! This book was amazing and a whole lot less confusing than the previous books in the series, although the ending was pretty bad。 If I could change one thing about this book, it would be that the stories were longer。 They were waaaaay to short。 This was probably my favorite book in the series。

This is the fourth book in the Mr。 Lemoncello series and Grabenstein doesn’t disappoint! In this installment, Mr。 Lemoncello goes live, nationwide, on the Kidzapalooza Television Network so that everyone can play along。 To be on the show, however, kids have to audition and be accepted to play the game, using their own bodies as playing pieces。 Would you have what it takes?
