The only way to reverse the damage is by giving everyone a financial stake in society。

I have already re-read and re-re-read multiple essays in this book。 Slouching Towards Bethlehem is one of my new Bibles for life。

A collection of vignettes of a bygone America。 Even as an Australian I suspect that it is an blurry portrait of an America even Americans would not recognise。 Although I cannot relate to these experiences there is no denying that these short pieces are finely crafted。

The writing in this book is INCREDIBLE。 Never in my life have I read prose so carefully constructed。 Although I found the style of writing fantastic， I occasionally found it difficult to understand exactly what the writer was trying to convey。 What I mean by this is that， having been born long after the publication of these essays， I felt that I missed some necessary context。 Other than that， though， this book was great！
