Summary

Fort and his friends face more perilous ancient magic as they race towards the final battle to save humanity in this fifth and final installment in the fantastical series from the author of the New York Times bestselling Story Thieves

Fort Fitzgerald is finally reunited with his father and wants nothing more than for life to return to normal, the way things were before magic burst back into the world。 But normal isn’t an option anymore。 Not when the Old Ones could still return to enslave humanity and Damian is dead set on making that happen。

Convinced he’s the Chosen One the prophecy says will save the world, Damian has mastered all six books of magic and plans to summon the Old Ones to destroy them。 Fort knows better though—Damian has no chance of defeating the Old Ones once they arrive。

Maybe Fort could stop Damian if he could use the magic from the dragon dictionary, but he’s consumed with strange visions each time he tries。 The only hope left is for Fort, Jia, and Rachel to recruit the help of old friends—and enemies。 But how can they know who to trust? Because unless they can find the truth behind the web of secrets and lies surrounding the prophecy of the Chosen One, Fort’s visions, Arthurian legends, and even magic itself, they've already lost。

The final fight is coming。 Fort Fitzgerald and his friends have one week until Damian has promised to return and unleash the Old Ones on the Earth。 Damian thinks he can defeat the Old Ones, but Fort believes that Damian will fail, unleashing the Old Ones on the Earth。 Fort thinks his only hope is to find a way to destroy magic once and for all。 But can he figure out how to do that in time? This is the final book in the series, so if you haven’t read the earlier books, I definitely recommend you g The final fight is coming。 Fort Fitzgerald and his friends have one week until Damian has promised to return and unleash the Old Ones on the Earth。 Damian thinks he can defeat the Old Ones, but Fort believes that Damian will fail, unleashing the Old Ones on the Earth。 Fort thinks his only hope is to find a way to destroy magic once and for all。 But can he figure out how to do that in time? This is the final book in the series, so if you haven’t read the earlier books, I definitely recommend you go back and start there。 If you don’t, you’ll have some pretty cool twists spoiled for you。 Fans will be happy with the story we get here。 I do feel the author took a bit too long in the first half, time that could have been cut without impacting the story overall。 But the second half is great, with the complications we’ve grown to expect from the series and a page turning climax。 All the characters we love show up again here, and I enjoyed the growth some of them got。 Fans of the series will be happy with how things are wrapped up。Read my full review at Carstairs Considers。 。。。more

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 Perfect。Absolutely perfect。After finishing "The Timeless One" the other month, I honestly wasn't sure if I'd continue reading。 I just felt so betrayed。 But I'm so glad I finished the series。 The plot was confusing in places because of all the time travel stuff。 Lots of books have been written with time travel, but they're just plain confusing if not written well。 But after a moment to think, I could understand what was going on。 The characters' development was INCREDIBLE。 I loved seeing how much Perfect。Absolutely perfect。After finishing "The Timeless One" the other month, I honestly wasn't sure if I'd continue reading。 I just felt so betrayed。 But I'm so glad I finished the series。 The plot was confusing in places because of all the time travel stuff。 Lots of books have been written with time travel, but they're just plain confusing if not written well。 But after a moment to think, I could understand what was going on。 The characters' development was INCREDIBLE。 I loved seeing how much Fort has grown。 Also, I'M SO GLAD CYRUS TURNED AROUND!!!!! Now, THIS is the silver-haired Clairvoyance boy I immediately liked when I began the series。 Oh, yeah!! Everyone has magic now?? A new magic school is being started?? AND MERLIN。。。? EPICYet bittersweet。。。Thank you so much for the adventure, James Riley!!! 。。。more

The Chosen One is not a three star but it wasn't a four star either。 It was getting boring but finally it picked up。 It only really picked up because of Helio。 Now that was a character I liked。 I mean really almost everything that happened only happened because of some really bad decisions on the part of children, who thought they knew more than adults。 Which is usually how it is but still at least one entire book could have been deleted if the children hadn't thought they knew better than other The Chosen One is not a three star but it wasn't a four star either。 It was getting boring but finally it picked up。 It only really picked up because of Helio。 Now that was a character I liked。 I mean really almost everything that happened only happened because of some really bad decisions on the part of children, who thought they knew more than adults。 Which is usually how it is but still at least one entire book could have been deleted if the children hadn't thought they knew better than others what needed to be done。 。。。more

I very much enjoyed this series。 I'm sad to get to the end of the journey with Fort and his friends, but I like how it ended。 I very much enjoyed this series。 I'm sad to get to the end of the journey with Fort and his friends, but I like how it ended。 。。。more
