Summary

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it， click here。 Oh look， yet another one of my favourites。 This one had me crying for half of it， even though I know what's going to happen。 I miss how Eren treated Armin in season 1-3。 I miss when they were friends。 Not that I want Bertholdt or Reiner to die （I love them too much）， I wish both Erwin and Armin lived。 But of course Isayama hates happiness。 Personally I think they made the right choice- Erwin only had the goal of knowledge， his goal would have been reached immediately once they got to the basemen Oh look， yet another one of my favourites。 This one had me crying for half of it， even though I know what's going to happen。 I miss how Eren treated Armin in season 1-3。 I miss when they were friends。 Not that I want Bertholdt or Reiner to die （I love them too much）， I wish both Erwin and Armin lived。 But of course Isayama hates happiness。 Personally I think they made the right choice- Erwin only had the goal of knowledge， his goal would have been reached immediately once they got to the basement。 Also， his suicidal tactics where he kills off half the army never seems to work in anyone's favour。 Like Eren said， Armin's goals were vast， and it was Armin who came up with all of the clever ideas。 Ultimately， it was time for Erwin to rest and for Armin to rise up。 It still hurts though and I was very sad all the way through the decision-making scene。 And poor Levi。 Although he said that he'd be the one to kill Erwin， I know he absolutely hated having to make a decision。 I'd say it is one of the worst days of his life。 And he didn't even kill Zeke like he promised。 Give this man a break。 The basement/reveal chapter was also amazing。 After finding out Zeke's backstory， I don't feel as sorry for Grisha， but once again， Isayama hates happiness。 He makes me feel sorry for absolutely everyone。 I also love the way everyone mirrors each other。 The scene where Grisha's father is screaming at him when he says that he and Faye did nothing wrong mirrors the scene in season 4 when Kaya asks Gabi what she did wrong to deserve so much hate。 Of course， the responses are very different- Grisha's father acts like a cowardly dog， and Gabi is an indoctrinated child。 Of course， the answer to what they did wrong was simply that they were born into the world as an Eldian。 I love this answer， for it sets up Zeke and Eren's character development into sociopaths very well， as we shall see in season 4。 It hurts when just a couple of books ago we saw Carla and Eren stating how they were special just for being born。 Zeke was right。 Eren was manipulated by his father。 If only he had listened to Carla。 The world would be a better place， and Eren wouldn't be filled with such unbridled rage。 When Zeke saved Reiner， he says how lucky he is （to be rescued）。 Arguably， from a future perspective， I'm not sure Reiner agrees， but I'm glad he lives， for who else could act as Eren's foil？ I can't wait to continue reading the rest of the series before the 9th April。 If this made me cry， I sure do know I'll be crying a lot more later on。I didn't mean for this to turn into a giant review， but here we are。 I could write a whole essay on the entire series， but alas no one would read it， and I don't have the time。 。。。more

It's human nature to be sceptical - to worry that after so long this series has been going on; after so many twists and turns， shocking revelations， heartbreaking betrayals and bloody battles there could be nothing more to surprise you， nothing that could knock the breath out of your lungs from the utter disbelief; that you couldn't possibly think Isayama a bigger genius。 Perhaps it truly is my karma for avoiding AoT for this long， but I was proven wrong。 No matter how many volumes I've read， th It's human nature to be sceptical - to worry that after so long this series has been going on; after so many twists and turns， shocking revelations， heartbreaking betrayals and bloody battles there could be nothing more to surprise you， nothing that could knock the breath out of your lungs from the utter disbelief; that you couldn't possibly think Isayama a bigger genius。 Perhaps it truly is my karma for avoiding AoT for this long， but I was proven wrong。 No matter how many volumes I've read， there are still things that leave me utterly speechless， gaping at my screen like a gutted fish and making choking sounds because。。。。 Holy Cow， Moly and all the cannoli， will this manga ever give me - and all its protagonists - a break？！ We've reached the basement， ladies and gentlemen。。。 。。。 and I admit， I was scared that whatever we learn is not going to live up to the expectations。 I was convinced that we've spent 86 chapters of fighting/dreading/dreaming of the information hidden in that basement， only to be given something that wouldn't be worth all the sacrifice， and once the mystery was uncovered， the series - and the high-stakes story - would lose some of its appeals。 Stupid - I was really goddamn stupid！ To think Isayama would stop toying with us all and just offer us the greatest mystery of the manga on a silver platter？ Ha！ The joke's on me。。。 So， thank you， for not only proving me wrong on so many levels yet again but also for the grey hair， another round of questions to which I demand the answers ASAP！ And yet， I'm not fully prepared for this series to end。。。 P。S。 （view spoiler）[ The whole situation behind the walls provided in Grisha's backstory just reminds me of Nazi Germany - with Eldians being the Jews and Marley serving as the German Reich。 I connected the dots when they wanted the children and training them to be 'warriors' which my brain immediately connected to Hitler Youth。。。 I'm a history buff so this was right up my alley！ Either way， whether there has been some inspiration from history or not， I applaud Isayama once again。 （hide spoiler）] 。。。more
