Another fun romp! I’m thinking I’ll need to read the spin off w Megumin here soon since a lot of characters popped up that I think are more central in that book? Looking forward to more reads w Kazuma and the gang :)

Ehhh。。。 I can't give it a four。 It picked up a bit in the final 1/3rd of the book, but for the most part it was just kind of there。 It really just felt like a lot of filler to me。 Sure, sure, you finally get to learn more about the Crimson Magic Clan and more of Megumin and Yunyun's stories。。。 but getting there wasn't nearly as much fun as some of the other books in this series。Was it bad。。。 no。 Was it great。。。 no。 Somewhere in between。Verdict: If you're a fan it's probably worth reading just to Ehhh。。。 I can't give it a four。 It picked up a bit in the final 1/3rd of the book, but for the most part it was just kind of there。 It really just felt like a lot of filler to me。 Sure, sure, you finally get to learn more about the Crimson Magic Clan and more of Megumin and Yunyun's stories。。。 but getting there wasn't nearly as much fun as some of the other books in this series。Was it bad。。。 no。 Was it great。。。 no。 Somewhere in between。Verdict: If you're a fan it's probably worth reading just to learn more about some of the characters and the world。 If you're just mildly interested in this series -- thus far you can skip this one。 Of course with my luck in the future volumes something from this one will be important。 Best just read it to stay current。 。。。more

Surprisingly Dark!Iike the title says, I was surprised at how dark this book got in the beginning。 I mean it was still light hearted and funny, but definitely dark in places! All told, I enjoyed this book like all the others and I'm definitely looking forward to the next one。 Surprisingly Dark!Iike the title says, I was surprised at how dark this book got in the beginning。 I mean it was still light hearted and funny, but definitely dark in places! All told, I enjoyed this book like all the others and I'm definitely looking forward to the next one。 。。。more

And we're back to fun Konosuba! New jokes, new characters, some really good comedy moments! It's hard to explain why Konosuba is this good。 If you consider the basis for the series, it's just a bland fantasy story。 The characters however, are hilarious fun and stay true to their nature throughout the story。 And we're back to fun Konosuba! This was hard to rate。 The books have been declining slowly, and so it's not good enough for a three, but not as bad as two。 I think this is the first time I want to settle for a 2。5 rating。 Let me explain。These books started out really fun。 It was a fantasy world with a whole bunch of comedy thrown in。 The party was useless, the main character lacked hero material。。。 As satire, it was brilliant。 Problem is, we're in book 4 now, and it still reads exactly as book 1。 By now, even with the fun ele This was hard to rate。 The books have been declining slowly, and so it's not good enough for a three, but not as bad as two。 I think this is the first time I want to settle for a 2。5 rating。 Let me explain。These books started out really fun。 It was a fantasy world with a whole bunch of comedy thrown in。 The party was useless, the main character lacked hero material。。。 As satire, it was brilliant。 Problem is, we're in book 4 now, and it still reads exactly as book 1。 By now, even with the fun element, I would have expected the characters to grow more, if not in skills at least personally and as a group。 They haven't。 The only one who seems to make slight progress is Kazuma, but with all the nonesense happening, you can barely notice unless you really pay attention, and it's getting exasperating。 I'm tired of Aqua wailing about everything。 I'm tired of Darkness pervy mind and the fact she can't take anything serious。 And I'm tired of Megumin behaving like a child。 She had some real chance of growth in this book, and it was tossed overboard。 And the sexual tension is also getting annoying。 The whole 'Oh Kazuma is a perv, but we all secretly want to do him' is getting old。 Basically, I've been hearing the same jokes for 4 books。 I need something else。 This is not going to cut it for much longer。 It would have been fine had it been a standalone book, maybe even a trilogy, but if this is to run for long, then there better be some improvements or I'll get tired and stop reading。 。。。more

This volume goes into a different direction than the ones before it, and I don't know how happy I am with this。First the good parts: My favourite Yunyun finally gets her screen time in this novel, and is no longer reduced to a lonely sidekick of Megumin。 The story itself is great, a really nice Konosuba story: Kazuma and the gang journey to Megumin's home town, which not only sets some wolrld-building into motion, but also leads to - who could have thought that - a confrontation with the Demon K This volume goes into a different direction than the ones before it, and I don't know how happy I am with this。First the good parts: My favourite Yunyun finally gets her screen time in this novel, and is no longer reduced to a lonely sidekick of Megumin。 The story itself is great, a really nice Konosuba story: Kazuma and the gang journey to Megumin's home town, which not only sets some wolrld-building into motion, but also leads to - who could have thought that - a confrontation with the Demon King's army。 And we get a 。。。 um 。。。 return of a certain character that I simply loved before, and who has the by far best comedic moments in the series up to now, even if that person is not present physically。 Aqua and especially Kazuma have great lines, and Darkness is ok, I guess (since Akatsuki only relies upon her fetish for her comedic parts)。Now for the not so great part: Megumin。 Love it or hate it, but the focus is on her and her relationship to Kazuma in this volume。 And yes, it comes to a point where you really have to talk seriously about an actual relationship being explored in this volume, which of course happens on a less comedic note than all the light and standard character development during the rest of the series。 Some people may love the depth this gives to the characters, but I, personally, like Konsosuba BECAUSE it is just slapstick after slapstick, and usually doesn't care about a deep character design。Nevertheless, this volume had some really great jokes and I hate to have to wait for four months to read the next one。 。。。more

Funny as always, we now get to know Megumin and her people, we see a lot of interaction between her and Kazuma and a hint of jealousy from another character and, of course, yet another Demon king General。 It’s relevant to see how from the last book and this one Kazuma is getting tired of his life in that world and a certain hint of conflict between the party members。

The world of Konosuba holds a very special place in my heart。 The light novels, the anime, the fan art, the collectibles, the fans themselves。。all of it。 It's all amazing and you are amazing for picking up Konosuba: God's Blessing on This Wonderful World!, Vol。 5 (light novel): Crimson Magic Clan, Let's & Go!! It was like medicine = tasted。- How about the Crimson Magic Clan backstory? I can't wait for us to find out, somewhere down the road, that most of the bizarre chuunibyou and/or otaku and/or world-ending stuff our characters have to face down is somehow connected back to the same NEET who made Mobile Fortress Destroyer?- Or what about the scene when Yunyun finally got to have friends? You feel so good for her。 And even Megumin gets in on the Yunyun love!- Oh, and that other scene with Yunyun ! Where she gets to be a total BAMF in front of Sylvia! That will be such a good scene if we ever get a third season of the anime。- And Sylvia!? Man, she was something else。 I loved how they ultimately defeated her, but I was so disappointed they, quite literally, killed her off。 I thought she could (and I wanted her to become) a series mainstay!- How about the ending when Kazuma and Megumin have a touching moment and Megumin decides to give up on just focusing on EXPLOSIONS! because she thinks she't not a good enough party member only for Kazuma to tell her she's exactly who she needs to be, putting all of her unused points into MORE EXPLOSIONS?- Or that scene where, right before the end, where Megumin refers to Kazuma as "my man?" How funny/sweet/cool was that? It only took five novels for us to get some sort of payoff for between the two of them。 Whew, okay。 What a book。 。。。more
